Gordon was born and raised in Calgary, graduated from the University of Alberta and was employed by Alberta Forestry Services for eighteen years serving in High Level, Slave Lake, Lac La Biche, Fort McMurray, St. Albert and Grande Prairie. He is survived by his wife Bernice; three children, Kristian, Andrea and Myles; one twin brother Graham (Sharon); two sisters, Linda (Ron) Oates, Carolyn Sage, all of Calgary. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Brown, his sister Margaret, grandparents, Rev. James Brown and Ethel Brown, and William and Louise Anderson. The family and Rev. Michael Ward invite all family and friends for a celebration of Gordon's life, to be held at Central United Church (139 - 7 Avenue S.W.) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8. Memorial donations are welcome for the trust fund set up for Gordon's children by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (A.U.P.E.) through the Alberta Treasury Branches or to the library at Central United Church.
CHOMYC -- Curtis Brian Chomyc of Calgary, beloved son of Orest and Lovie Chomyc of Taber, passed away in Calgary at the age of 40 years. CHOPPEN -- Marie (Knight). On Monday, November 3, 1997, Marie peacefully passed away. Marie dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. The memory of her will be especially cherished by her loving husband Jim, and family, Judy (Brian, Scott, Kelsey), Gloria (Rick, Kieran, Jamie-Marie), Barb (Ken, Lindsay, Abbigail), Debbie (Mike, Lauren), Jim (Sharon), Nancy (Michael, Gregory, Derek), Chuck (Lue) Knight; and numerous nieces and nephews. GROVE -- Louise (nee Terzi) passed away at home on November 6, 1997 at the age of 61 years. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Guido and Mathilda Terzi; and two children in infancy. She will be greatly missed by her husband Ken of Calgary; her son Wayne (Cathy); her daughter Linda (Dana); and grandsons, Calin, Thomas and Craig. She is also survived by her brother Richard (Edith) Terzi; and sister Guidonna (James) Dugan and families. She was a lifetime member of Pioneer Acres, enjoyed crafts, antiques and many days finding bargains at garage sales. HALL -- Reg, beloved husband of Gail, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on November 2, 1997 at the age of 89 years. Besides his loving wife, Reg is also survived by his children, Bobby (Jim) Dickson, Keith (Bev) Hall, Mona (Walter) Giesbrecht, Doug Hall, Claire (Carl) Burbridge, Gerry (Bonnie) Dreger, Rick (Marie) Dreger, Don (Irene) Dreger, Doreen (Al) St. Martin; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Bouskill, June Fitzsimmonds; and brothers, Ray (Bertha) Hall, Ken (June) Hall. Reg is predeceased by his sons, Dean Hall and Ron Dreger, and brother Keith Hall. Reg will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A private Memorial Service will be held at the Moose Lodge. HAYDON -- Helen Marjorie Haydon, beloved wife of Wilfred Haydon, passed away November 5, 1997 at the age of 85 at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary. Helen was born April 21, 1912 in Port Arthur, Ontario. The family moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan where her father was a city engineer. Later the family moved to Edmonton where she completed high school and commercial school. On October 17, 1942 she married Wilfred Evans Haydon. For fifty years they resided in Edmonton and in April of 1992 they moved to Calgary to be near their children. In November of 1994, Helen moved into Glenmore Park and in May of 1996, Wilf joined her there. She is survived by her husband Wilfred; her children, Ron and Carolyn of Calgary; as well as Ron's wife Chris and their two daughters, Cathy of Ottawa and Darlene of Calgary. She is also survived by brother Jim (Olive) Calder of Renfrew, Ontario; and sisters-in-law, Gladys New of Calgary, Elsie Calder and Fran Calder, both of Edmonton. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Hector. Helen was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was intensely proud of her two granddaughters. Special thanks to the staff of Glenmore Park for the loving care she received. He is survived by his beloved wife Thelma; daughter Donna DeCook (James) of Ashcroft; grandchildren, Kim DeCook of Ashcroft, Jamie Fredrickson (Stearn) of Ashcroft, Teri Bundus (John) of Ashcroft, Linda Linklater (James) of Ashcroft, Michael DeCook (Debbie) of Penticton; one sister Mae Coyne of Hamilton, Ont.; and eleven great-grandchildren. KENDALL -- Mrs. Annie "KATHERINE" Kendall of Lacombe passed away in the Lacombe Hospital and Care Center on November 4, 1997, just nineteen days before her 103 birthday. Katherine was born in Johnson County, Wyoming on November 23, 1894. The daughter of William and Martha (Dodge) Bryant, Katherine was raised on a ranch in Wyoming until her father's passing in 1912 when she, her mother, sister and brother moved to Los Angeles, California. After graduating from Hollywood High School, she became a Secretary and worked for an insurance company where she met her future husband. Katherine moved to Alberta in 1923 to marry Eugene L. Kendall and return to ranch life at Kew (near Millarville). After her husband's death in 1948, she continued ownership of the Kendall Stock Co. until its sale in 1973 when she moved to Calgary. In 1976, Katherine took up residence in Lacombe. Katherine was predeceased by her son John, son-in-law Bill Stewart, sister Rachel, and brother Oliver. She is survived by her loving family of one daughter, Dib Marie Stewart of Lacombe; two sons, William (Joan) Kendall of Millarville, AB and Frank (Anita) Kendall of Lacombe; daughter-in-law Margaret Kendall of Leduc; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held from the Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church, (on Woody Nook Road West of Lacombe) on Friday, November 7, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Calgary at 3:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, No. 101, 4826 - 47 Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1R2.
