Mr. Daniel John Taylor
August 5, 1984 - March 4, 2008

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our only son, brother and friend, Daniel John Taylor age 23 of Glace Bay. Daniel passed away in Calgary.

Born in Glace Bay he was the son of John and Mary (LeForte) Taylor, Glace Bay. Daniel attended and graduated from Glace Bay High School in 2003. Since then, he was employed as a laborer across Canada. Daniel was a free spirit who enjoyed skateboarding, music and the peaceful tranquility of the wilderness. Known for his sense of humor and love of life, Daniel will be always remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

Beside his loving parents, he will be sadly missed by his two sisters, AJ and Diana, many aunts, uncles and countless friends. He is also survived by his extended family, Beatrice MacSween, Laura Lee and Ray Sharpe.

Daniel was predeceased by Nana (Elizabeth) Sharpe, his maternal grandparents, Angus and Mary LeForte, and paternal grandparents, Douglas and Barbara Taylor.

Visitation for Daniel Taylor will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Carolyn Repp
October 1, 1935 - March 10, 2008

Repp, Carolyn of Calgary passed away the Foothills Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2007 at the age of 72 years. Carolyn will be dearly missed by her son Paul Repp, daughter-in law Jenn Nichols, grandchildren Alec and Kase, and nieces Diana Dittmar and Monica (Jack) Froese. Carolyn was predeceased by bother John MacCunn, sister Jeanne Dittmar, husband Fred Repp and son Carl Repp.

Carolyn was born in Toronto, ON. She attended Havergal College and later the University of Toronto where she completed her Diploma in Physical and Occupational Therapy. After a successful career as a therapist in Toronto, Carolyn started a family with her husband Fred in Ottawa. Following the birth of her two sons, the family moved to Dartmouth, NS where she played an active role in a number of churches and community organizations including the Muscular Dystrophy Association. After the death of her husband, Carolyn relocated to Calgary to be closer to her son Paul. Carolyn will be remembered as a generous woman with a wonderful and special sense of humor and as a caring and loving mother and grandmother.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a Visitation and Celebration of Carolyn’s Life at Leyden’s Funeral Home (17th Ave SW and 2nd Street) on Thursday, March 13th, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Carolyn directly to the Aplastic, Anemia and Myelodysplasia Association of Canada (11181 Yonge Street Suite 321, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1L2)

Mrs. Ella Gertrude Savage
January 29, 1922 - March 9, 2008

SAVAGE - Ella Gertrude of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Ella will be lovingly remembered by her children: Jeanette, Deana (Mike) and Kenneth; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Joe and numerous other family members. Ella was predeceased by her husband Reginald and son Donnie. A Celebration of Ella’s Life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Henry Tremblay
September 6, 1924 - March 13, 2008

Mr. Henry Tremblay late of Edmonton, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008, to be with his wife, Grace, who predeceased him. Henry was 83 years old.
He is survived by his loving family, 4 daughters, Sharon, Vivian (Jim), Gloria (Albert), and Carol (Randy); 7 grandchildren, Calvin, Melissa, Angela, Michael, Daniel, Sarah, and Emily; 2 great grandchildren, Madison, and Ethan; 4 sisters and 2 brothers, Violet, Anita, Doris, Olive, Rene, and Leo; as well as numerous other family and many dear friends.
Henry is predeceased by his sister, Irene; and brother, Romeo.
A Celebration of Henry's life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road.

Mrs. Mary Ann Penning
October 1, 1942 - March 12, 2008

On Wednesday March 12, 2008, Mary Ann Penning of Sherwood Park passed away at the age of 65 years. She will be lovingly rememeberd by her husband of 42 years, John, children; Suzanne (Ron), Angela (Chad), Lisa and Chris (Taryn), grandchildren; Samantha, Jacob, Ty, London, Sienna and Kian, mother Zinnia, brother Russ, and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Paul.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held on Monday March 17, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish (13 Brower Dr., Sherwood Park). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to unit 9Y, Edmonton General Hospital.

Mr. Sandy Rubletz
March 2, 1924 - March 4, 2008

Sandy Rubletz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. He was the beloved husband of sixty-two years to Clara, and father to Tom Rubletz and companion Cheryl Seaman, and Sandra (Kinley) Baillargeon. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Stephen (Stephanie) and Julia (Matthew) Rubletz, Danielle, Marc and Sylvie Baillargeon, as well as by his sister Anne (Andrew) Olenick. Sandy was a strong supporter of the union movement and served many years as president and business manager of the UFCW Local 373. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home (17 Avenue SE & Garden Road) on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Donations in Sandy's name may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association (#204, 2323 - 32 Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2E 6Z3).

Mrs. Vera Ternovoy
October 16, 1923 - March 2, 2008

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Vera Ternovoy at the age of 84 years.

Vera will be sorely missed and lovingly rememberd by her children: Terry (Philomena), Myra (Howard) Crosley and Debbie (Bill) Hammer, six grandchildren: Ivan, Naomi, Erin, Marissa, Jacqueline and Lewis, siblings: Paul, Peter, Olga, Victoria, Victor, Lydia, Ben, and Micah as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Vera was predeceased by her husband Metro, her siblings Joachim, John, Nida, Nina, Ed and Mary.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Donations in memory of Vera may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.

Mr. Alexander Archibald M. Patton
May 14, 1926 - March 1, 2008

Alex passed away in Edmonton after a two year struggle with cancer. He was born in Tyanee, Co. Londonderry, N. Ireland and came to Canada at the age of two with his parents, an older sister Elizabeth (deceased) and a younger brother. Alex is survived by his brother W. John (Margaret) Patton, a nephew Dr. David Patton (Kathleen) and grand nephew Jimmy Patton all of Calgary, as well as relatives in N. Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and USA. Alex was an excellent scholar all his life and gained recognition for his skills at Horse Hills, Belmont, Eastwood and Westglen schools culminating in a Chemical Engineering Degree (Class of 49) University of Alberta. Alex was a refining specialist with Imperial Oil and was recognized for his expertise in the catalytic cracking field. Friends and associates marvelled at Alex' vast store of knowledge in many fields where a conversation with him was a real learning experience. Alex by nature a quiet person with a wry sense of humour was much liked and admired. Special thanks to his kind faithful friends Cristina and Grant who saw him through some difficult days. Thanks also to all his friends who phoned and visited him in his last days in palliative care. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Mel Miller Hospice, Unit 9Y in the Edmonton General.

In keeping with family wishes a graveside service was held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 16102 Fort Road, Edmonton. Donations in memory of Alex may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Edith Kay

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010 Edith Kay of Edmonton passed away at the age of 87 years.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Maboob) Sumar, David (Val), Sean (Kathryn), Melanie, Patrick ( Shawna), Matthew; all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710,10123 - 99 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1.

Mr. Frank Joseph Pirker
July 8, 1931 - March 9, 2010

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Frank Pirker of Edmonton passed away at the age of 78. He was born in Austria and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his wife, Barbara Guenther, his children: Frank Pirker (Debbie) and Barbara Redmond (Denis); his grandchildren: Brenden, Alyssa, Evan, Frank, Drew and 1 great-granddaughter. He has 1 brother and 3 sisters in Austria. Frank is predeceased by his first wife Sigrid. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 9155 - 79 Avenue. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
