Verna Bancarz, a lifelong resident of Thorsby, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the ranch as she had always hoped. She is lovingly missed and survived by her son Tim Bancarz of Leduc, daughter Tracy Marzolf and son-in-law Harvey Marzolf of Leduc County, sister Marie Cheb of Edmonton, grandchildren Dylan and Darby (Tim and Kelly) and Jordan, Brandon and Nathan (Tracy and Harvey) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her son Jody, daughter-in-law Kelly, sisters Sophie, Ann, and Fran, brothers Mac, Victor, Pat, Ed and Barney. A Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 5019 — 49 Avenue in Thorsby, Alberta on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served at the Community Hall following the interment.
Joubert, Eula Margaret

With great sadness we announce the death of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend Eula Margaret (nee Yuers) Joubert who passed away peacefully at Edmonton Grey Nuns Hospital on July 3. Eula leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Raymond, Darryl (Shirley), Loran, Kevin, Connie (Michael), Terry (Debbie), Nikki (Clint); 13 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and three brothers, Jack, Larry (Marion) and Ivan. She was predeceased by her husband Marvin, son David, daughters Dianne and Koreen, grandson Shane and her brother Willard. Eula was born in Hughton and raised her family there. Eula loved her jobs as Post Office Clerk and a Nurse’s Aide at the Elrose Golden Years Lodge. Eula took great joy in being around her family and friends. Eula loved the outdoors and nature along with her hobbies of gardening, sewing, baking, crocheting and traveling. In 2006 Eula moved from Saskatoon to Beaumont. At the age of 80 Eula got her first computer and was delighted to keep in constant contact with all her children, grandchildren and friends on Facebook and Hotmail. We Love you Mom and will cherish you in our hearts and memories till we meet up with you again. The Celebration of Eula’s life will be held Friday July 8, 2011 at St. David’s United Church, 4614 48th Street in Leduc, AB at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Osteoporosis Canada, your local Meals on Wheels or The Society of Seniors Care.

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Raymond (Ray) Wedman at the age of 73 years on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Leduc Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years Joyce Wedman, children Darrell (Donna) and family Sanna, Jacob and Walter; Susan Crest (Robert) and family Chad and Katelyn; Kelly Panylyk (Dwayne) and family Dani. Also surviving are his siblings Ernest Wedman (Ruth), Doreen Ramsankar, Otto Wedman (Joanne), Diane Edy, Elizabeth Roth (Ernst), sister-in-law Marilyn Wedman as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Ray was predeceased by his parents Olga and George Wedman, brothers Alvin, Lorentz and Jonathan, a brother-in-law Steve Ramsankar, son Ross and granddaughters Darci and Teri.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, 10014 — 81 Avenue, Edmonton with Pastor Arno Bablitz officiating. McDONALD, Mr. James (Jim) Irvin
On August 24, 2011 Mr. Jim McDonald of Drayton Valley died tragically as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife Kim, three sons; Brodie, Blaine and Billy, parents Thora and Dale Johnson of Sedgewick, brother Quentin (Bonnie) of Lougheed, four sisters; Sheila of Sedgewick, Pat (Nelson) of Lougheed, Thoralee (Cory) of Wainwright, and Deanne (Paul) of Ardrossan, Grandmother Ruth Erikssen (Stan Swaren) of Sedgewick, mother and father-in-law Irene and Lawrence Kohut of Hafford, Saskatchewan, two brothers-in-law; Kelly (Nicole) of Cold Lake and Kevin (Keri) of Pierceland, Saskatchewan as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Jim was predeceased by two sons, Logan and Billy James, and Grandfather Gudmunn Erikssen.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Jims life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Drayton Valley, with Father Christian Nwaigwe officiating.

Gayle was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 2, 1946 to parents Red and Sally Gough. She will be deeply missed by her two sons: Michael and Christopher Stewart; sister Audrey (Jim) Fardoe and two nephews: Daniel and David; and brother Bryan Gough.

JAVORSKY, Harry Rubin
On Wednesday, August 24, 2011 Harry Javorsky of Edmonton passed away at the age of 77 years after a courageous ten year battle with Leukemia.
Harry is survived by his loving family; wife of 56 years, Wally; two sons: Gary (Ingrid) and Wesley; one daughter: Lorna (Dan) Blum; two grandchildren: Lynnae and Aaron Blum; three siblings: Leonard (Lena) Javorsky, Elsie (Alfred) Kalke and Bill (Linda) Bartel as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Loree Larratt, Dr. Monica Modi, Nicole Crisp, Judi McCaustlin and the rest of the team of the Hematology and Out Patient Department at the University of Alberta Hospital.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our Dad, William Kennedy Napier, at the young age of 95 years. He was born February 17, 1916 and passed away on August 22, 2011.
He leaves to mourn: son, Colin (Del); daughters: Joanne (Bub), Arlene (Alan), Roslyn (Brett); ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great– grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Erba; son William and grandson James.

Born at Legal, Alberta on January 22, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the age of 83 years.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lucienne, (ne Coulombe) of 61 years; children: Therese, Claude, Irene (Louis Bourassa); two granddaughters: Samantha, Danielle Hardy. He was predeceased by daughter Marie-Claire Hardy and son-in-law Edward Serediak. He leaves four sisters: Rita, Ccile, Marie-Rose, Lah (Euclide) Brub; predeceased by four brothers-in-law Wilfred Gehrman, Camille LHeureux, Rudolf Brub, John Hellec.

HOLE, June Pamela
On August 11, 2011 June suddenly passed away at the age of 64 at the family’s cottage in the Laurentians, Quebec.
Left to cherish fond memories are her loving husband Jim of 40 years, her eldest son David (Denise), grandchildren Sloan and Griffin, her daughter Joanne (Rob) and her youngest son Patrick (Jacquie). Other family members mourning her loss are her mother Beryl Milne and five brothers Peter, John, Raymond, Michael, Patrick and her sister Hayley.
June was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where she first met her husband in 1967. She moved to Canada in 1969 and was married in Morin Heights, Quebec on September 11, 1971. June received her degree in Physical Education from the University of Alberta.
Always generous with her time, June volunteered in her community and dedicated her expertise in physical fitness to seniors for over 30 years, for which she received the Woman of Distinction Award in 2007.
She was always selflessly helping others, so in lieu of flowers we ask that you perform a random act of kindness to honor June.
A Memorial Service of June’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 24th at 2:00 p.m. at the Citadel, Shoctor Theatre, 9828 — 101a Avenue, Edmonton.
SHOPEAU, Lawrence Victor
Lawrence Victor Shopeau passed away peacefully August 16, 2011 at the Edmonton General Hospital.
Lawrence was born July 9, 1917 in Vancouver, British Columbia and worked as a pipefitter in sites across Canada for most of his working life. Recently Lawrence resided at the Meadowcroft Seniors Residence in the Westmount area where he made many friends.
A Celebration of Lawrences Life will take place on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Serenity Funeral Service, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton. There will be a Viewing at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Service at 2:00 p.m.

SANGSTER, Madeleine P. (nee Valois)
With a very heavy heart I must tell you that my wife and soul mate for 41 years and mother of our three wonderful children has departed our world to seek eternal peace. Maddie passed away at the age of 61 years on August 22, 2011 after a courageous three and a half year struggle with cancer.
Maddie leaves behind husband Richard and their children Jason (Tabatha), Greg (Jill), Michelle (Trent) Koziol; grandchildren Samantha, Jacob, Alyssa, Hanna and Chase; her brothers Gerry (Karen), Roger (Christine), Dan (Janie) and Rene (Jeanette); her sisters Jeanette (Terry) Blair and Deni (John) McCrae.
Madeleine was born in Tisdale, SK and raised in the Valleyview and Grande Prairie area. In 1970 we married and she began her banking career working at the Royal Bank in Fort St. John, Fort St. James, Prince George, Leduc and various branches in Edmonton. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and friendly manner. In recent years she worked in interior design and decorating with winters spent at her favourite place Perla del Mar, Manzanillo, MX.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff on Station 43 Grey Nuns Hospital and the Palliative Care unit at St. Josephs Auxiliary Hospital. You are all a huge credit to your profession, please do not allow the daily tears you see deter you from your work, we need you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 from St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton. Those wishing to pay their last respects may do so on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311 — 91 Street, Edmonton or at the church up to 45 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

PRESTON, Thomas Metro
April 10, 1925 — August 18, 2011
The Preston Family is saddened by the passing of Thomas Preston, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great– grandfather. Thomas was born in Fork River, Manitoba, living much of his life in Alberta.
Remembering him are his wife Beverley Preston; children: Susan, Leslie, Michael (Ann); grandchildren: Hailey, Darren, Edith and Casey; great-grandchild Sebastian as well as son-in-law Charlie. Tom was predeceased by his parents, eight of his siblings as well as his son Kirk.
Thomas worked for CN Railway in Calgary and Edmonton, retiring from his position as area comptroller in 1989. Tom found pleasure in family activities, being a good neighbor, home projects, RVing, cooking and gardening. He enjoyed skiing, volleyball, cycling, fishing and being outdoors.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Edmonton Humane Society or the Salvation Army.

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, Mrs. Pauline Landa of Spruce Grove, Alberta passed away at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her loving husband Jerry, one daughter, two sons, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister.
