GODBERSON - Donald Edward Godberson
1929-2000
Donald Edward Godberson, born July 27, 1929, completed his life's journey on May 4, 2000, when he passed on at the age of 70, in the Fairview Health Complex, Fairview, Alberta. A memorial service to celebrate and honour Don's life was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at St. Luke's United Church in Fort St. John, with the Reverend Bill Unger officiating. This former long term resident first of High Prairie, Alberta, then Fort St. John, British Columbia, and finally Fairview, Alberta, was father to Glen Godberson, Byron Godberson, and Diana Bacso (John), and a proud grandfather to Michael Bacso and Alexandra Bacso. Vi Fox of Fairview, his very special friend and travelling companion for the last ten years of his life, will also fondly remember Don. This second son of Harry and Violet Godberson was also a younger brother of Les Godberson (Irene), and an elder brother of Beryl Meng, Jane Tennant, Roberta (Bob) Douglas, Neil (Lena) Godberson, John (Heather) Godberson, Arthur (Val) Godberson, and Ann (Grant) Simpson. Finishing their own life's journeys before Don, were his mother, Violet Godberson and his brother, David Godberson. Don will also be remembered by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank everyone for the many expressions of sympathy and support, and encourage any further expressions of the same be made in the way of contributions to the Fairview and Area Palliative Care Society, Box 552, Fairview, Alberta TOL 1LO. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd., Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Bullard
Frances Doreen Bullard of Innisfail went to be with her Lord on February 18, 2000 at the age of 69 years. Doreen was born in Fairview, Alta., on May 18, 1930, the daughter of O.H. (Bill) Moore and Annabell Moore (Dawn). At the age of three Doreen lost her mother and lived with her paternal grandmother in Calgary until age twelve, where she attended Stanley Jones School. She then returned to Fairview where she completed her formal schooling. After high school Doreen worked in the Three Hills area where many of her mother's family still reside. In 1951 she enrolled at the Henderson Business College in Calgary and that same year met her husband of 46 years, Garth Bullard. Garth joined the Airforce in Nov. of 1951 and was stationed in Eastern Canada, but in spite of distance the relationship continued and they were married April 6, 1954 in Calgary. The next 11 years were spent in Trenton, Ontario where their four sons and one daughter were born. In 1965 the family returned to Alberta and subsequently lived in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Didsbury. After retirement Doreen and Garth lived for a while in Vancouver before moving to Innisfail in the fall of 1994. Throughout her life Doreen was active in her church and in school/community programs. She was a cub/scout leader for a number of years. Doreen was a member of the Innisfail Baptist Church where she participated in senior's events, bible studies and was a prayer warrior. Doreen enjoyed music and singing and had been involved with a number of church/community choirs throughout her life. She was an avid reader and had taken courses in creative writing. The center of Doreen's life was her family and she will be fondly remembered as a wife, mother and grandmother. Doreen enjoyed travelling and camping and in spite of her disabilities due to arthritis and heart problems, she and Garth travelled extensively throughout North America. Doreen particularly enjoyed camping in the parkland foothills of Alberta and Prince Albert National Park in northern Saskatchewan. Doreen will be remembered for her caring and cheery disposition which never faltered in spite of the many health problems she struggled with throughout her life. She had a strong faith and has gone to her heavenly reward with her Lord Jesus where there is no more pain or struggle.Doreen leaves behind her husband; sons, Lawrence (Marilyn) of Airdrie, Jeffrey of Ottawa, Andrew (Jon) and Jack (Pauline) of Calgary; and daughter, Nora (Ken) Tucker of Olds; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Lawrence and Harold (Jean) Moore of Fairview plus three other sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 26, 2000 at the Innisfail Baptist Church, 5204 Woodland Rd., Innisfail, Alta., at 2 p.m. with Rev. Garry Francis officiating. A time of refreshments and fellowship followed at the church. No interment. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, a donation may be made in Doreen's memory to the Innisfail Baptist Benevolent Fund 5204 - Woodland Rd., Innisfail, Alta., Mercy Ministries, Box 6033, Innisfail, Alta. T4G 1S7 or a charity of your choice.

Cox
Clarence Cecil Cox, long time resident of David Thompson district passed away in Fairview February 6 in the year 2000 at the age of 68. Clarence was born July 17, 1931 at Fairview, Alberta. He was a mixed farmer by trade. He also worked at various sawmills in the area during the winter months. Clarence was a member of the David Thompson Hall Society for many years. Where he also was caretaker there for several of them. For the last few months Clarence resided at the Homesteader Lodge in Hines Creek. Where he enjoyed many activities and made a number of friends.Clarence was predeceased by his father Ernest Cox in 1980, his mother Frances Cox in 1999, his brother Stan Cox in 1996 and his brother Robert Cox in 1999. Clarence was survived by his sister Violet (Jim) Nadeau Fairview, brothers Harold (Mae) Cox Salmon Arm, B.C., and Reginald (Lois) Cox Fairview. Two sister-in-law's, Ruth (Robert) Cox and Dorothy (Stan) Cox. And several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for the late Clarence Cox were held February 12, 2000 at 2:00 pm at the St. Helens Anglican church in Fairview with The Very Reverend Michael Rolph officiating. Music was provided by Val Hagerman. The eulogy was read by Rodney Ewing.Honorary pallbearers: were Len Scarrow, Max Kurtz, Alfie Griep, Leonard Schischikowsky, Elmer Yager, Gerrit Visser, Wilson Pratt, Emil Trautman and Zigmunt Ostaszewski.Active pallbearers: Joe Rombs, Walter Southers, Archie Hayes, Allan Knoepfli, Clifton Gorham Merl Bjornson.Internment followed at Waterhole Cemetary. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Moran Funeral Home, Peace River. Donations were made to the Grande Prairie Cancer Clinic. Lunch was served by the David Thompson Hall Society at the David Thompson Hall.

THORNE
Mr. Selby Mead Thorne of Rimbey, Alberta passed away in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the age of 74 years. Born at Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on October 7, 1926, Selby attended school at the Fort and later serving briefly in the Canadian Military. Selby then went on to graduate from the University of Alberta as a Mining Engineer. Upon graduation Selby joined the petroleum industry and for 35 years was employed at various locations throughout the Western provinces and the United States. At the time of his retirement, Selby was president of the Alberta Research Company. Selby became active in breeding, training and showing Appaloosa horses and served several years as a director of the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada and as president of that organization from 1969 - 1971. Since its formation and throughout the 1990's Selby was very active in the Reform Party of Canada/Canadian Alliance Party, working nationally as well as within his own Wetaskiwin Constituency. Selby loved the North, and he and his wife Kathy took several extended northern trips during his retirement. His favorite volunteer position was with the Medicine River Wildlife Centre relaying injured birds and animals to the Centre at Spruceview. Predeceased by his parents; Selby Sr. and Helen as well as by one brother Robert, Selby is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of Rimbey, his son Patrick and daughter-in-law Cheryl and grandchildren Carson and Leah all of Calgary. Selby also leaves to mourn one sister; Beth and her husband Dr. Ralph Edie of Calgary as well as numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. Funeral services were held at the Rimbey United Church on Friday, October 13, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Brian Roadhouse officiating. Cremation followed. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Acute Care Unit of the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, PO Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0 or to the World Vision, 6630 Turner Valley Road, Mississauga, Ontario L5N 2S4. In memory of the late Mr. Selby Mead Thorne a donation will be made to the new Rimbey Soccer Park. A living memorial presented by Wilson's Funeral Chapel. Charbonneau, Leon
Mr. Leon Charbonneau, a resident of Hinton, Alberta, passed away in Hinton on December 28, 1999 at the age of 51 years. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Paulette, of Hinton, Alberta; his children, Darrin (Nadine) Charbonneau of Edmonton, Alberta; Glenn (Rainia) Charbonneau of Hinton, Alberta; Chantal Charbonneau of Hinton, Alberta; his four grandchildren, Elista, William, Ruth, Brendan. Also left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories is his mother, Rita St. Onge of Hinton, Alberta; his brothers, Fern Charbonneau of Hinton, Alberta; Ken (Brenda) Charbonneau of Hinton, Alberta; Raymond (Fiona) Charbonneau of Whitehorse, Yukon, his sister, Pat (Norman) Carre of Hinton, Alberta; along with other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial Service for the late Mr. Leon Charbonneau was held on Friday, December 31, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Foothills Catholic Church, Hinton, Alberta, with Father Brian Inglis officiating. Mr. George Dueck, a resident of Hinton, Alberta passed away in Hinton General Hospital on December 21, 1999 at the age of 63 years. George will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife, Elvia and their daughter, Hannah of Hinton, Alberta. Also left to mourn his loss, his brothers; Henry (Cherie) Dueck of Medicine Hat, Alberta; David (Virginia) Dueck; his sister, Evea from Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Catherine Dueck. Mr. Paul Landry, a long time resident of Hinton, Alberta, passed away in the Hinton Hospital on December 21, 1999 at the age of 71 years. Paul will be forever missed and loved by his precious little daughter, Maria of Hinton, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife, Digna in August, 1998. LEP, Mrs. Mary
Mrs. Mary Lep, a resident of the Pine Valley Lodge, passed away in the Hinton General Hospital on December 27, 1999 at the age of 78 years. Mary will be sadly missed by her family, her son Don (Denise) from Delta, B.C.; her daughter-in-law Willie Lep from Hinton, Alberta; her five grandchildren. Also left to mourn her loss are her brothers; Alex, Frank and Nick, along with other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1980 and her son Frank Jr. in 1999. In keeping with her request Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held in Regina at a later date. Watson, Ernest (Ernie) C.
Watson, Ernest (Ernie) C. of Kitchener, Ontario passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 12, 1999 at St. Mary's General Hospital in his 84th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine (January 1994). Dear father of Dennis and his wife Trudy, Annette and her husband Keith Kenning, Ernie and his wife Rose-May of Whitecourt, Alberta, Gary and his wife Diane, of Hinton, Alberta, Debbie and her husband John Morgan, Richard and his wife Audrey, Heather Vandyk and her husband Terry Rooymans and Kevin. He will not be forgotten by his grandchildren Gary and Leanne Kenning, Juliane, Kimberley and Erika Watson, also Brett and Stephanie Watson. Survived by four sisters and one brother. Predeceased by his parents James and Martha Watson, daughter Eva (1955) also three brothers and one sister. Veteran of the Second World War, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 Waterloo, retired from UniRoyal in 1979 and was a long time member of Trinity United Church in Kitchener. Family invited relatives and friends to Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, Kitchener for visitation on Tuesday, December 14. Funeral Services were held at the Trinity United Church at 10 o'clock on Wednesday, December 15, 1999. Interment Woodland Cemetery Kitchener.

CARLE, Helen Doreen
On October 17, 2000 Helen Doreen Carle of Leduc, passed away at the age of 66 years. Helen is survived by her loving husband Roger; one son Pierre Carle of Pense, Saskatchewan; two daughters, Carole (Mike) Ernst of Carson City, Nevada; Jocelyne (Glenn) Martell of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; seven grandchildren, Cory, Christopher, Daniel, Alexander, Kenn, Rhianna and Brendan; her mother-in-law Azilda Mercure of Montreal, P.Q; four brothers, Charles and Thomas Palmer, both of Picton, Ontario; Ernest Palmer of Peterborough, Ontario and Hugh Palmer of St. Isidore, Alberta and two sisters, Beatrice Hubbard and Idela Bradshaw, both of Picton, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents Pat and Marjorie Palmer. Memorial Service will be held on Thrusday, October 26, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Leduc (5105 - 45A Street) with Reverend Richard Bednar officiating. If friends and relatives so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (1200 College Plaza, 8215 - 112 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2C8.) MEYERS WALTER AUGUST
On Sunday, October 8, 2000, Walter Meyers of Millet, went to be with his Lord and Savior. Walter is survived by his loving wife Ella, his children, Judy (Roy) Rusaw, Wayne (Linda) Meyers; six grandchildren, Kim (Stephen) Platt, Preston Liske, Sarah, Luke, Susie and Jonathan Meyers, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, August and Olga Meyers, brother Gordon, sisters, Emma Barnett, Arpa Silver, Esther Neuman. A celebration of his life was held on Friday, October 13, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from Wiesenthal Baptist Church with Pastor Herb Radke officiating. Interment Wiesenthal Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Gary Neuman, Dale Neuman, Gordon Silver, Neil Meyers, Dallas Arnholtz, Lorne Arnholtz.
