On Thursday, May 30, 2002 Tim Shapansky of Sherwood Park passed away at the age of 17 years. Tim is survived by his loving parents, Boyd and Suzanne; two sisters, Lisa and Tracy; as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Reverend James Shortt of Lamont, Alberta on Friday, May 31, 2002 at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris of 63 years; his sons, Wayne (Sharon) Shortt of Stoney Plain and Lyle (Sandra) Shortt of Lloydminster; his daughter, Lynell (Steve) Czekaj of Saskatoon; one sister, Eileen Shortt of Calgary; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Bill, Hugh and Norman. A Celebration of Reverend James Shortt's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Andrew Community Centre in Andrew, Alberta. On Friday, May 31, 2002 Ross Tallman of Andrew passed away following a lengthy illness at the age of 77 years. On May 31st, Mr. Arthur Charles Thom of St. Albert, formerly of Flin Flon, Manitoba, passed away in his home at the age of 60 years. POGUE, Dorothy Isobel
Dorothy Isobel Pogue (nee Cosstick) passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home in Edmonton on September 6, 2002 at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her children, Geoff (Joanne) of Calgary, and Jane (Ross) and Tony (Linda), both of Edmonton; grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Wendy, Heather, Trevor, and Anthony; and a brother, Alex (Ruth) Cosstick of Ottawa. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in Calgary in 1958. Born in the Crowsnest Pass on September 3, 1919, she moved to Calgary and followed her passion of teaching until her retirement in 1986. Dorothy enjoyed all sports when she was young. An accomplished athlete, she was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Calgary Crematorium Chapel, 3219 - 4 Street N.W. On September 6, 2002 Katherine Rawlick passed away after her second courageous battle with cancer. Katherine was born in Stry, Alberta on May 20, 1924, to Agatha and Alexander Tkachyk, she had eleven sisters and three brothers. She is survived by four children, Darlene (Ray) Evanchuk, Laverne (Dave) Holland, Terry (Dora), and Ken (Gina). She leaves nine grandchildren, Darryl (Carla), Kathryn, Colleen, Douglas, Daniel, Vanessa, Robert, Christine (Kevin), and Theresa; one great-grandchild, Courtney. Katherine is also lovingly remembered by three sisters, Agnes Vioncek, Angeline Leskiw, and Pearl (Albert) Moric. She was predeceased by her husband, John; grandson Darcy; her parents, and numerous brothers and sisters. Prayers Monday, September 9 at 8:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709-111 Avenue, Edmonton.
