Francis Orville Olson of Stony Plain, formerly of Andrew, Radway and Holden passed away April 23, 2003 in his 94th year. He leaves to mourn one son and two daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Lillian of Ottawa, Virginia of Carvel; four grandchildren, Andrew (Debbie) of Lethbridge, Brenda Reilly (Mike) of Ottawa, Mark (Denise) and David (Kristine) of Carvel; eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Marie Olson of Holden and Gladys Davis of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Violet in 1993 and son, Allan in 1999. Funeral Service to be held on Monday, April 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Howard and McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Road. Cremation will follow at the Edmonton Crematorium. It is with great sadness that the family of William Ralph Pahal (Bill) announce his passing on April 25, 2003 at the age of 94 years. Bill passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital where he and Evon shared their last days together. Our Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad will be forever loved and sadly missed by son, Gerry (Joy), daughter, Pat (Jim) Ewing; his grandchildren, Sheryl Ewing of Calgary, Darlene (Russ) Yeomans of Spruce Grove, Bill (Barb) Pahal of St. Albert, and Shirley Ewing; his great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jocelyn and Christopher Barber; Kelsey and Marisa Yeomans and Ashley Ewing; sister, Emma Bryer, brother, Arthur Pahal; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by "the love of his life", his wife Evon; two grandchildren, Terri-Ann and Bob Ewing; brothers, Herman, Julius, Roland and Clements. PETERSON, Shirley (Pat)
On April 23, 2003, one year to the day of her husband Bill's passing, our mother, Pat, joined him at peace, with her family at her side. She is once more with her husband of 58 years, the lonely days are over. Shirley Patricia Bird (Pat) was born September 12, 1925 in Winnipeg and grew up there and at Winnipeg Beach. She met and married Bill in 1944, and moved to his family farm in Nanton and was a helpmate to Bill for 20 years there. The family subsequently moved to Toronto for five years before returning to Alberta (Edmonton) in 1969. Pat was predeceased by her sister, Alice Weitman and leaves to mourn her passing Joyce (Buddy) Cawston, William (Bill) and Jeanette Bird, Fred Weitman, Loyal, Winnie and Dan Gilbert; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. She will be most dearly missed by her son, Thomas (Tom); daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) and John Holt and her grandsons, Shawn and Chris Holt. PETTIGREW, Dorothy Margaret
On Thursday, April 24, 2003 Mrs. Dorothy Pettigrew of Vermilion, Alberta entered into rest at the Alice Keith Nursing Home, Vermilion at the age of 90 years. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her eldest son, Kenneth Frederick Miller and Frances of High River, Alberta; twin boys, Donald Frank Miller and Verna of Edmonton and Gerald William Miller and Gwen of Calgary; one daughter, Iva Marie (Miller) Giebelhaus and Garry of Wetaskiwin, Alberta; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William John Pettigrew on September 10, 1996; her parents, Fred Firth and Lily Firth and one grandson, Douglas Miller. A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be conducted from St. Saviour's Anglican Church, Vermilion on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Peter Yeung officiating. ROBERTS, John (Jack)
1921 - 2003
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of Jack Roberts on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the age of 81. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Reginald (Elsie); daughter, Helen (Doug) Neil; his grandsons, Bradley Roberts (Joanna Cunsolo) and Cody Woitas; granddaughter, Stacey (Nick) Culo and great-granddaughter, Cassia; a brother, Bill (Barbara) Roberts and sister, Eva Gerdson, both of Truro, NS. Jack is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, Darlene Andrews, Dallas (Russ) McKeever and Dale (Daryl) Springer; eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. To know Jack was to love him. There were no strangers in his life, only friends. Jack loved the outdoors, especially fishing and the time spent with family at Pigeon, Long and Candle Lakes. Jack worked for Hobbs Concrete in Edmonton for many years before venturing into gold mining in B.C. Jack and Helen then moved to Grande Prairie where he worked for Consolidated Concrete for ten years. They retired to Edmonton in 1985. On April 23rd, 2003 Harm W. Sandomir of Edmonton, Alberta and formerly of Hinton, Alberta passed away at the age of 86 years. Harm is survived by his three grandchildren, Stephanie Harris and her children, Casey, Darcy and Lance all of Dawson Creek, BC, Melisa Horner and Lori Horner of Edmonton, Alberta. He will also be missed by his extended family and friends in Germany and Canada. Harm was predeceased by his loving wife, Hilda in 1993, his sons, Wilhelm in 1963 and Martin in 1973, his daughter, Annhild in 1999 as well as his grandson, Erich in 1991. KRISTENSEN, William
On June 21, 2003, William Kristensen of Edmonton passed away at the age of 79 years. William leaves his son, John; daughter-in-law, Sharon; three grandchildren, Sherry, Todd and Kent; two sisters, Ann Nielsen and Ellen Christiansen; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members who reside in Edmonton and Denmark. LAUBER, Harold
On June 21, 2003, at the age of 88, Harold Lauber was called home to his Heavenly Father. Harold's memory will be cherished by Erma, his loving wife of 62 years; by his children, Donna Stauffer of Scotch Creek, B.C., Gail Foshaug (Larry) of Tofield, and Dale (Jo Ann) of New Westminster, B.C.; and by his sister, Kate of Edmonton. Harold was predeceased by six sisters and seven brothers. To remember fondly their beloved and devoted Grandpa, who made a special connection with each one of them, are six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Harold spent his 88 years in the Tofield area, but his many friends and acquaintances are spread across the continent. Passionately interested in his church, in life, and in people, Harold will be lovingly remembered for the magnificence of his friendly spirit and for the innocence and grace that endeared him to everyone who met him.
