WATSON -- Irene Matilda Watson of Okotoks passed away January 11, 1998 at High River Hospital. Born in Cheadle, November 22, 1918. Irene is survived by four sons, Melvin (Sharon), Earl (MaryAnn), Vernon, Gordon (Kim); and special friend Rose Nikonchu; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1991 and was also predeceased by six brothers. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 16, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. FECH -- Olga Martha Fech passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on January 8, 1998 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Jersey City on January 19, 1907. Olga is survived by her daughter Helene Heier of Gadsby; sons, Erich (Adele) Fech, Leo (Ofala) Fech, and Oscar Fech, all of Calgary. Olga is also survived by twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. Olga was predeceased by husband Emil Fech, daughter Martha Riess and sisters, Sofi Rogoski and Freda Schlickman. HOFFE -- Eric Franklin Hoffe of Calgary, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his family, on his birthday, January 13, 1998 at the age of 64 years. Eric was born January 13, 1934 in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. He joined the Royal Canadian ArmedForces (PPCLI) at the age of seventeen years. Later on in his life he established HOBO Camper Country which he owned until his retirement. Eric will be sadly missed by his family, friends and acquaintances for his sense of humour and caring demeanor. During the last months of celebrating life he touched and was touched by the people of the Rockyview Hospital and Agape Manor Hospice. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Unit 59 at the Rockyview Hospital and the volunteers and staff of the Agape Manor Hospice for their tender, loving care. Eric is survived by two daughters, Rita Carlson (and husband Robert) and Cheryl Rozander, and a son John Hoffe, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Stacey (and husband Keith), Kevin, Jason and Shannon; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mathew and Michael. He is also survived by the children's mother, Mary Hoffe of Calgary. Eric was predeceased by a son Greg in August of 1961 and by his parents. PATTERSON -- Margaret Patterson, beloved wife of Bill Patterson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Monday, January 12, 1998, following a courageous battle with cancer. She will be affectionately remembered as a devoted wie, loving mother and proud grandmother. Besides her loving husband, Margaret is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Jim Malyk of Guelph, Ontario, and Lorraine and Tom Mitchell of Calgary; as well as six grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother Julie Dalke of Leduc; sister Almena Dowling of Sherwood Park; three brothers, Ed Loomis of Caroline, Gerry Loomis of Norman Wells, N.W.T., and Gordon Loomis of Swan Hills; also numerous other relatives and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her father Earl and her brother Stanley. SANTIAGO -- Bienvenido (Bien, Jun) Santiago II, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on January 7, 1998 at the age of 55 years. Bien is survived by his loving wife Sallie, of twenty-four years; three children, Gary, Jerome and Karen. Bien isalso survived by his five brothers, Dr. Romeo (Celia) Santiago, Philippines, Ibarra (Margie) Santiago, Prince Albert, Sask., Willie Santiago, Prince Albert, Sask., Bienvenido (Miriam) Santiago III, San Jose, CA, Moises (Nenet) Santiago, Philippines. He is also survived by five sisters, Sonia (Abe) Corpuz, Prince Albert, Sask., Fe (Rey) Buenaventura, Calgary, Dr. Myrna (Danielo) Lorenzo, Philippines, Nympha (Oscar) Joseph, Philippines, Evelyn (Claudio) Madura, Saudi Arabia. Bien was active for many years with Filipino Christian Fellowship of Calgary as well as Foundation Baptist Church. After completing his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he moved to Canada twenty-six years ago and since then has worked with many oil companies. He was a faithful husband and father who provided for his family. He sought to be a blessing to other people and to serve the Lord he so dearly loved. AIRTH -- Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Airth (nee Barr) died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Thursday, January 8, 1998 at the age of 91 years. She was born in Renfrew, Ontario, on July 19, 1906 and came to Edmonton in 1931 with her beloved husband Douglas wh predeceased her in 1991 after sixty-five years of marriage. She was also predeceased by daughter Dorian Jean in 1937 and by her parents and five of her brothers and sisters. Janet is survived by her son Bryan and daughter-in-law Ruby of Sechelt; daughter The Rev. Carmen and her husband Gerald (Bud) Stansberry of Colorado; sister Jean O'Reilley of Sudbury; and brother David Barr of Renfrew. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Debra (Glen) Underschultz of Edmonton, Tracey (Dan) Edblom of California, Cita Airth of Vancouver, Janet (Todd) Drake of Colorado, and Douglas Stansberry of Colorado; as well as three great-grandchildren, Vicki and Sheri Underschultz of Edmonton, and Callie Edblom of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Airth had been involved pioneer members of Norwood United Church where she remained active until its recent closure. She then attended McDougall United. Janet had been blessed with many artistic and creative gifts, treasured by friends and family. She will be profoundly missed by those who knew her, and her family is grateful to God for the grace made known through her example. Her Memorial Service was held on January 12, 1998 in Edmonton. BERTOLISSI -- Mr. Gino Valentino Bertolissi passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 1998, surrounded by his loved ones, following a long but courageous battle with cancer. Gino was born July 20, 1959 in Calgary where he attended Bishop Granin High School and SAIT. He obtained a Surveying Technologies diploma in 1979, Photogrammetry diploma in 1980, and a Mechanical Engineering Technologies diploma with honours in 1985. Gino enjoyed and took great pride in his work as a photogrammetrist at The Orthoshop in Calgary. A perfectionist, Gino was ideally suited to and excelled in his chosen vocation. He enjoyed biking, exploring the city, working with maps and working on cars with his brother. His other interests included travel, photography, sports and computers. Gino's family and friends are grateful for the care given by Dr. Temple and his staff and the compassion shown by the Home Care nurses who allowed Gino to rest comfortably until he was called into God's arms. His gentle soul will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Gino is survived by his parents, Eno and Ines; his brother Denny; his sister Sonia; and numerous relatives in Italy, Belgium and France. He also will be dearly missed by his many friends and co-workers who admired him greatly. BIRCH -- James Henry "Harry" Birch of High River, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, Calgary on January 13, 1998 at the age of 57 years. He is survived by his wife Marie, High River; his children, Shelley (Bryan) Wasden, Chris (Michelle) Birh, Brent Birch and Blake Birch; and grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Brodie and Geordie. He is also survived by his mother Florence Birch, and sister Vicki (Kerry) Kunzli. He was predeceased by his father James. A private family Interment Service took place at Highwood Cemetery, High River. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 1998 at the High River Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. George Budd officiating. BRYSON -- Mary Florence "Flo" Bryson of Red Deer, beloved wife of the late Warren Ellery Bryson Jr. passed away at the Dr. Richard Parsons Auxiliary Hospital, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, January 13, 1998 at the age of 93 years. Flo was born on Marc 24, 1904 at Halifax, Nova Scotia to Francis and Lillian Mackey. She was very thankful to have survived the Halifax Explosion on December 6, 1917. She was married to Warren Ellery Bryson Jr. in 1937. Following the war she moved with Warren to Edmonton in 1947, then to Red Deer in 1948. Flo was an accomplished stenographer and worked for W. Woods Barrister and Solicitor, the Phelan Hotels Ltd. and later retired from the R.C.A.F Station at Penhold in 1969. Flo was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Royal Purple. She is survived by her son Frank Ellery (Erlene) Bryson of Calgary, and their children, Lisa Chanel Duthie of Rapid City, Manitoba, Tara LeeAnn Beesley of Calgary, Rana Renee (Sean) Pearcy of Richmond, British Columbia, Dana Darlene (Don) Torrance of Calgary, Frank Ellery Bryson Jr. of Balfour, British Columbia; and seven great-grandchildren. Flo was the eldest of six children including sisters, Marjorie Mackey and Mona (Edwin) Holmes of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on October 10, 1974, and three brothers, Ronald, Gerald and Douglas. Funeral Services will be held from the "67th Street Chapel" of the RED DEER FUNERAL HOME, 6150 - 67 Street, Red Deer on Saturday, January 17, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Red Deer Cemetery. FARGO -- Arlene (Sinclair), nee Hlasny, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 14, 1998 at the age of 84 years. She is survived by four daughters, Joan Randell (Clayton Robb), Carole Watkin (Robert), Margaret Rauhaus (Bob)and Dale Sinclair (Gordon Norman); and seven grandchildren, Leslie and Brenda Randell, Brad and David Watkin, Drew and Justin Rauhaus, and Amanda Sinclair; as well as brothers, George and Joe Hlasny; and sisters, Eda Price and Margaret Alldis. She was predeceased by her first husband John Sinclair in 1958, her second husband John Fargo in 1994, and by a sister Carrie Hagglund and a brother Louis Hlasny. Born in Canmore, Arlene grew up in Bellevue in the Crowsnest Pass before getting married and moving to Calgary. She worked and retired from The Bay. HARRISON -- Lloyd Herbert Harrison of Calgary passed away quietly on Wednesday, January 14, 1998 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 75 years. Lloyd was born at Corning, Saskatchewan on May 18, 1922 and spent his early life in the district. Lloydenlisted in the army on October 16, 1942 and served with the Regina Rifles and the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was wounded in action along the French Belgium border and upon discharge in May 1945, he returned to Corning, Saskatchewan where he farmed until 1955. A career change led him to Calgary where he has resided since. Lloyd is a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 264. Lloyd will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria (nee Knowles); and four children, Herbert (Donna) Harrison of Regina, Sask., Sharon (Merv) Casteel of Tofino, B.C., Bill (Terri) Harrison of Nanaimo, B.C., and Jo-Anne (Bob) Golob of Vancouver, B.C.; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived by a brother Grant (Evelyn) Harrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Olof, his parents, Herbert and Sadie, his brother Elmer, and his son Douglas. HESKES -- Franciscus (Frank) Heskes, beloved father of Frank and Monika Heskes, and Fred Heskes, and grandfather of Justin and Reid, passed away peacefully at the Mayfair Care Centre with his sons at his side on January 14, 1998 at the age of 77. Frak was born on June 17, 1920 in Heerlen, Netherlands. He immigrated to Calgary, Alberta with his family in 1960 and was employed in the construction industry until his retirement in 1983. He leaves to mourn, his sister Mien Sterrenberg and family of Hoensbroek, Netherlands; and sister-in-law Alphonsine Heskes and family of Liege, Belgium. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife Betty on November 29, 1979, brother-in-law Piet Sterrenberg of Hoensbroek, Netherlands in 1986, and brother Jan of Liege, Belgium on March 15, 1997. Marshall is survived by his children, James Hoggan (Enid Marion), Joseph Hoggan (Eileen Fitzgerald), Delois (Paul) Cook, Marjorie Hoggan, Anita (Dave) Brown and Marsha Hoggan. HYNDMAN -- Mavis Jean passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 1998. Born in Champion, Alberta, on November 28, 1923. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Orpha Hyndman, brothers, Hilliard (and wife Mavis) and Rae, brother-in-law Bill and nphew Gordon Jones. She is survived by sister Ileen Burchett of Calgary; brother Mack Hyndman of Kelowna; sister-in-law May Hyndman of Richmond, B.C.; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Happiness for Mavis was her lifelong dedication to both the Presbyterian and Korean churches, her desire to help others, her family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest, her stories were fascinating, her adventures unending. Mavis will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Services will be held in Calgary at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1009 - 15 Avenue S.W., on Monday, January 19 at 10:30 a.m., and in Toronto at Gateway Church on Tuesday, January 20, 1998. JORDAN -- Agnes Yvonne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 1998 at the High River Hospital at the age of 76 years. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Jordan in 1987. Agnes was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-gandmother and friend. She is survived by her six children, Lewis (Joan) Jordan, Joanne (Don) McCuaig, MaryLou (Terry) Carleton, Joe Jordan (Teresa), Kate (Carl) Walgren, Annette Jordan (Doug); ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her three surviving sisters, Delphine Lemire, Dora Lemire and Annette Vallieres (Alfred); her brother-in-law Joe (Betty) Jordan; and many nieces and nephews. Agnes touched the lives of many people. Her family, friends and church were her life. She will be greatly missed. Evening Prayers will be said this evening, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. at SNODGRASS Funeral Chapel, High River.
