Mary was born, raised and educated in Lethbridge, Alberta. She received her nursing education at the Holy Cross Hospital. Graduating as a egistered nurse, Mary was employed throughout Alberta and Winnipeg. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Mary is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Maurice Moser; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan and Diane Lewicki, and Henry and Phyllis Lewicki, all of Lethbridge; as well as other cousins, nieces and nephews. LAWSON -- Eunice, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home January 14, 1998 following a courageous battle with cancer. Besides her loving husband Henry, she is survived by three sons, Tim (Lois) of Calgary, Wayne (Barb) of Rolling Hills and Robin(Nora) of Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. Eunice is also survived by six grandchildren, Mike (Roxanne), Jane, Lucas, Tessa, Judith, Kirsten; and one sister Merle (Ralph) of Red Deer. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Annie Hamilton, her brothers, Vernon, Wilbur, Ronald, and sisters, Zena and Hazel. For the last twelve years Eunice was a dedicated cancer volunteer at the Foothills and Rockyview Hospitals and she was the president of the Lost Chord Club. McKELLAR -- Hector Alexander "Alex". Born at Glencoe, Ont., December 17, 1912, passed away January 13, 1998 at the Forest Grove Care Centre, Calgary. Alex is survived by his loving wife Edna. They would have celebrated their Sixty-Fifth Wedding Annivrsary later this year. He is also survived by his two daughters, Florence Denning and Irene (Allen) McClelland, all of Turner Valley; and son Jack (Linda) McKellar of Fort Assiniboine, AB; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. O'CONNELL -- Joanne passed away suddenly January 14, 1998 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital with her family at her side. Born March 11, 1939, she is survived by her husband Bob; daughters, Lori, Robyn and Karen; son-in-law Steve Verdi; grandchildren, Grnt and Kyla Verdi; her mother Mima David; two sisters, Rhona Craig and Glenda Zohner; and several nieces and nephews. A longtime employee of the C.R.H.A., she also leaves behind numerous friends at the Rockyview Hospital and Foothills Hospital. Joanne touched the lives of many people. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life and her outgoing personality. Joanne will also be remembered for her very special gift of expressing herself through her poetry. PARKER -- Audrey Isobel passed away in Calgary on Monday, January 12, 1998. Dearly loved Mom of Joanne (John), Ted (Myrna); beloved Nana to Jemma; loving sister to Sue Lyon; and "special mom" to Keith Bailey. Audrey was a lifelong and devoted friend o countless others. She was born in Calgary and raised in Millarville. Upon her marriage to Ray who predeceased her in March 1997, Audrey and Ray lived in different areas of Canada and Europe, prior to making Calgary their permanent residence in 1970. Audrey was a dedicated volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, and served until her passing. Margaret moved to Penticton, BC in 1968 where she lived until she returned to High River in 1986. SULLIVAN -- John Michael (Mike). Born July 2, 1942, Hazelwood Castle, Yorkshire, England. After a long and courageous battle, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 14, 1998, at home with his family. He will be greatly missed by his best friend an loving wife Linda; his daughter Dawn (Richard) and grandchildren, Chase and Carly; daughter Julie (Steven) Dean; and daughter Karen and grandson Kyle; also Pagan and Sweetie. He will be missed by his father John (Jack) Sullivan of England; his sister Pat Franklin of England; his Aunt Pat, cousins, Chrisanne, Greg, Rodney and their families, whom Michael found in California only a few short years ago. Remembered also by his nieces, Victoria and Catherine and family, and mother-in-law Kathleen Gilbert. In May 1972, Mike left his native England to move to Canada in hopes of a better life for his wife and daughters. He lived in Nova Scotia until 1976 when he moved his family to Calgary where he settled. His career in the construction industry in and around Calgary and Alberta has left his mark as a true craftsman. His dream of operating his own business came true in 1991 when he began Hazelwood Development Ltd., a business specializing in Hockey Rinks. His successes with Hazelwood Hockey Rinks continued into 1997 until his illness prevented him from having an active role. Hazelwood Hockey Rinks continues to thrive today, still within the family, as Michael had always dreamed it would. Mike was truly a proud Canadian. He had a love for Canada that was endless. His passion for wildlife and the outdoors led him and Linda to their decision to reside in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Mike continues to live on in the hearts of those he loved, of the lives he touched and those who loved him... Until we meet again, with love Linda. WARRACK -- Alexander "Alex", beloved husband of Mrs. Alice Warrack of Strathmore, passed away at the Strathmore Continuing Care Centre on January 14, 1998 at the age of 95 years. He is survived by his children, Shirley (David) Thomas of Langdon, Norm (Douglas) Hilton of Strathmore, Allan (Jean) Warrack of Edmonton, Margaret (Cecil) Graham of Langdon. WEDEL -- Nickolai Johann Wedel passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 1998 in the Foothills Hospital CCU. The last few days of his final illness were awkward, like the first steps of a newborn foal. Despite that, his final passing was peaceful and cntent, as if being carried further on. Nick was born December 25, 1911 in Samara, Russia and immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada with his parents and eleven siblings in 1922. He was raised on the family farm near Osler, SK, and though he loved farming and his horses, he ventured out to establish his own watch repair business in Kerrobert, SK. In 1942, he and his brother George, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and within days of marrying Katharina Wiebe of Saskatoon on December 26, 1942, he was transferred to Great Britain, where he served as an instrument technician for three and a half years. On return from overseas, he and his wife "Kay" settled in Chilliwack, BC and established Wedell's Jewelers. In 1947, they moved their business to Calgary, where they settled to raise their family. Other business endeavors included Wedell's Bridal Boutique, and an Orange Julius/Diary Queen franchise in the North Hill Shopping Centre. Though his body was eighty-six years old, he remained forever young. He loved the outdoors and his animals, and to his last days, he took great pleasure in breeding, training and showing fine Arabian horses and Great Danes. Nick was deeply devoted to his family and his God. He held steadfastly to his humility, gentleness, patience and faithfulness. He served his church as a founding member and ordained Deacon of the First Mennonite Church Calgary, and later in the Foothills Mennonite Church. Nickolai is survived by Kay, his wife of fifty-five years; three children, Candice (Bill) Martynes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Robert (Marilynn) Wedel of Taber, AB, and Deborah (Peter) Brown of Calgary; and eight grandchildren, Sheryl, Krista and Eric Martynes, Gina and Nicholas Wedel, and Robyn, Angeleah and Katherine Brown. He briefly enjoyed his first great-grandchild, Gavyn Martynes. WHITE -- The family of Allen White of Calgary, announces with deep sadness his passing while visiting his son and family in Tracy, California on January 12, 1998. He is survived by Eleanor, his loving wife of fifty-two years; daughter Sandra (Brad) Hghes of Calgary; son Kent (Marie) White of Tracy; and grandsons, Sean, Drew and Kyle. He is also survived by sister Elsie Tomas of Calgary; and brothers, Gordon (Agnes) Weitz of Calgary and Wilfred (Jean) Weitz of Lethbridge. Uncle Allen will be dearly remembered by his many loving nieces and nephews, and "Adopted" son Bob (Roxanne) Cole and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Mary Weitz, sister Mary Hergert and brother John Weitz. Al was born in Calgary in 1922 and resided there until his passing. He served in the RCAF during the Second World War. After many years of service with the City of Calgary Engineering Department, Al retired in 1985 as Urban Development Officer. A devoted and active member currently of Foothills Lutheran Church, and previously a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Allen volunteered his time for the betterment of the community. Papa was often seen supporting his grandsons' sporting and school activities. In his spare time, Al could always be found playing a round of golf with his friends at the Elks Club. His many friends and those whose lives he touched are invited to join his family members in a Celebration of Al's life to be held in Calgary at Foothills Lutheran Church, 3104 - 34 Avenue N.W., on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor L.
