McTAVISH, Helen
On Thursday, September 9, 2004, Helen McTavish of Edmonton passed away at the age of 94 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Carol; son Allan (Patricia); grandchildren Kelly, Randall, Christina, David and James; brother Arthur; sister Bertha; sister-in-law Jean and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1972; brother Lawrence and sister Bernice. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the Funeral Service which will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Dayspring Presbyterian Church (11445-40 Avenue, Edm.) with Reverend John Dowds officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dayspring Presbyterian Church Building Fund. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at both the Bramel Homes and Westview Continuing Care and to Dr. Boschma. South Side Memorial Chapel. MILLS, Helen Fay
December 21, 1936 - September 08, 2004
On September 8, 2004 Helen Fay Mills passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 67. She leaves to mourn her loss, three children, Debra Ross, Douglas Ross and Delores and Don Longoz of Edmonton. Her four grandchildren, Jason Burns, Travis Ross, Don Matthew and Daniel Longoz; two sisters, Barbara Ohlson of Blind Bay, B.C. and Donna Pich of Edmonton; as well as one uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends. Helen was an extraordinary lady and lived life to the fullest. She was loved, respected and admired by all that knew her. Helen's passing is a major loss for everyone blessed to have had her in their life. She will live on forever in the memories of her loved ones. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace. Thank You to all of the staff at "That's Aroma" for your love and kindness. Cremation has taken place. If so desired the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Angus McGuggan Palliative Care Unit at 10410-111 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5G 3A2.

MURPHY, Jerry F.
1920 - 2004
With great sadness, the family of Jerry Murphy announces his passing on September 7, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen; four children, Judy (Jim), Conrad (Glennis), Jim (Brenda) and Loree (Brad); eight grandchildren, Jill (Marc), Jay (Birute), Cassidy, Kael, Jesse, Jamie, Jake and Meghann; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Mitch. Jerry is also survived by his brothers Scott and Jim; sisters Barbara and Elsie; and special family friend Bobby Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Jack, Keith, Bob, Merritt; and sister Mae. Jerry was born in Evarts, Alberta in 1920. He was raised on the farm and at age 19, volunteered for the armed forces. In 1941 he joined the Calgary Tank Regiment and served overseas during World War II. In 1949, he married Helen Hiller and eventually settled in Edmonton. During his lifetime, Jerry worked at a variety of jobs - lumber camps, as a truck driver in the Leduc oilfields, machinist, real estate salesman and commissionaire. Jerry was always a talented and skilled carpenter. He built furniture for his family and friends, and could repair or fix most things. He was active in the Hazeldean Community League where he formed life long friendships. He was very supportive and proud of his childrens' and grandchildrens' participation in sports and like many parents spent many evenings in hockey arenas. After retirement, Jerry and Helen spent a lot of happy winters in Arizona and made many new friends. At Jerry's request, no funeral will be held and his remains will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute or the Grey Nuns Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff of Nursing Station 54 at the Grey Nuns for the compassionate care they provided for Dad.

L'HEUREUX, Ken
On September 13, 2004 Ken passed away at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Mary; his son Doug (Becky); his daughter Barb (John) Norgard; eight grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his beloved son Bob. "Ken was a devoted family man, successful business man with a lifelong passion for hockey" In keeping with Ken's wishes, there will be no services held.Family or friends, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, 10707 - 29 Avenue Edmonton, T6J 6W1 or the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, T6G 1Z2. Vernon Henry Lindberg of Ardrossan passed away on September 10, 2004 at the age of 62 years. Vernon is survived by his loving wife Shirley Lindberg; son Jared (Kathy) Lindberg; daughter Janna (Mark) Kwasny; four grandchildren, Jeffery, Kendra, Caleb and Cole; mother Dora Lindberg; brother Adrian Lindberg; sister Dian (Howard) Coxworthy. Vernon is predeceased by his father Henry Lindberg; brother Orvald Lindberg. Memorial Service will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail, Edmonton, on Friday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.

MAXFIELD, Nina Marian
On September 10, 2004, Nina Marian Maxfield of the Edmonton General Hospital for three years, formerly of Red Deer, AB, passed away at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her loving children, Bruce of California and Wes (Pat); grandchildren, Penny (Vic), Perry (Tracy), Powell (Lisa) and Peter of New Jersey; great-grandmother "Max" to Tyler and Teddi-Anne Danyluk and Corbin Wesley Maxfield; numerous nieces, nephews and special lifelong "old" friends. PANYLYK, Olga (Olive)
On September 11, 2004, Mrs. Olga (Olive) Panylyk of Edmonton, formerly of Fort Saskatchewan and Radway, passed away at the age of 88 years. She is survived by one daughter Shirley (Ron) Rudnitski of Edmonton; one granddaughter Rhonda of Calgary; two sisters, Roslind Moen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Josephine (Melvin) Breadner of Whiterock, B.C.; one sister-in-law, Mary Kuzik of Radway; and also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Nick in 1988; her parents; two brothers and three sisters. On September 10, 2004 Mrs. Lena Semotiuk of Edmonton passed away at the age of 72 years. She is survived by her husband Metro; children, Irene (Armand), Dora (Bill), Victor (Cheryl), Leo (Cindy), Susan (Paul) and Donald (Michelle); her step-children, Kathie (Donn) and Ernie (Nancy); 15 grandchildren (who were her most precious); brothers, Leo (Lorette), Denis (Margaret); sisters, Florence (John), Ida (Albert), Alice (Mike), Annette, Rita (Karl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her first husband Rodolphe Pelletier, her parents Eugene & Albina Theroux, sister Aurore; brother Bernard. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Royal Alexandra Hospital and also to the staff at Venta Manor for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton with Pastor Evert Potgleter officiating.
