SHELLWICK, Pauline
On Friday, October 11, 2002, Mrs. Pauline Shellwick of Kelowna, B.C. passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 90 years. Pauline is survived by her loving son, John and Ruth Shelwick of Calgary, Alberta; two grandsons, Stanley and Dan; one sister, Jane Patrie of Mundare, Alberta; nieces and nephews. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, John in 1958; one son, Allan in 1976; and three sisters. A Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 18, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Demetro Ukrainian Catholic Church - Seniuk's Farm (Rng Rd 173 & Twp Rd 542) with Basilian Fathers officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's choice. Autumn Rose Funeral Home Ltd. Vegreville, 780-603-5800.

SINOSKI, Nora
On Tuesday, October 15, 2002, Nora (Manchak) Sinoski of Edmonton, born December 23, 1916 passed away. Nora was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Sinoski (1990); son, Randy (1997); daughter, June (2000); her parents, Mary (Onushko) (1944) and Fred Manchak (1951); sisters, Stella Yaremko (1979) and Jean Makowichuk (1998); brothers, Andrew (1981), Lester (1972), Meron (1961), Walter (1988), Allan (1991) and Orest (1998). Nora is survived by her sister, Sophie; brother-in-law, Merton Faulkner; special friend, Loreen Herzberg; daughter-in-law, Linda, all of Edmonton; son-in-law, John Warnock of Australia; sisters-in-law, Stella Manchak of Leduc, Kay Manchak of Edmonton, Adeline Manchak of Calmar, June Manchak of Mesa, Arizona, and Anne Rebus of Edmonton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many dear friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2002 in Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810 - 34 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. Nora requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or, a foundation of your choice. RIEDEL, Anneliese
On February 4, 2003, Anneliese Riedel passed away peacefully in her home at Laurier House Strathcona at the age of 74. She is survived by her two loving daughters and their families, Trudy (Gerry) Riedel and Inge (Charlie) Coates. In addition to her daughters, Anneliese's grandchildren and great-grandchild are also saddened by this loss: Russel (fiance, Lisa), James, and Angela Kercher; and Bryan, Wendy and Justine Bohn. Anneliese will also be missed by her family in Germany, sister Edith (Otto) Heidemeyer as well as sister-in-law Ushi Boesler. Anneliese was predeceased by her husband Guenter in 1986, and brother Siegfried in 1991. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Glenwood Funeral Home south of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. Friends and acquaintances are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Laurier House, Strathcona. Anneliese Riedel will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks go out to the staff at Laurier House Strathcona, whose efforts, kind words and gentle actions comforted Anneliese through the last year of her life. . ROYER (nee Charbonneau), Elizabeth
On February 4, 2003, our beloved mother Elizabeth Royer of Beaumont passed away at the age of 87 years surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was born on October 16th, 1915, in Lebret, Saskatchewan. She was a long time resident of Beaumont before moving to Leduc, where she resided until her passing. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Marcel (Madeleine) Royer, Gerald Royer, Jeannine (Alexandre) Goudreau, Marie (Denis) Hinse, Lucien (Frances) Royer, Jean (Isabelle) Royer, Roger (Madeleine) Royer, Gisele (Gerard) Berube as well as 26 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren and one sister, Rhea (Marcel) Demers. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfrid; one great-grandchild, Janelle Hinse and one sister, Sr. Jeanne Charbonneau. Elizabeth's family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Simard for his tender care. Also, a special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Salem Manor. Prayers will be held at St. Vital Catholic Church in Beaumont on Friday, February 7, 2003, at 8:00 p.m. Reverend Francis Villeneuve will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vital Catholic Church on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Beaumont Church Cemetery. SCHUBERT, Max
On February 4, 2003 Max Schubert went home to be with his Lord at the age of 71 years after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Ursula, daughter Susan and son-in-law Bruce Stelter, son Michael and his beloved grandchildren Janae and Michael Stelter, sister Hilda and husband Gerhardt Fuellbrandt, brother-in-law and wife Peter and Marj Weber and mother-in-law Lola Weber as well as a host of extended family and friends.Max was predeceased by his father Max and mother Bertha Schubert and brother-in-law Paul Ohlmann. On Thursday, January 30, 2003, Lawrence Joseph Shrum passed away at the age of 64 years. Lawrence will be loved, missed and remembered by his wife, Kathy Anderson; his daughters, Terry Vickery and Donna Shrum and son, Wayne Shrum; grandchildren, Steven and Trevor Vickery and Eleanor Shrum (mother of children), all of Whitecourt; his mother, Bertha Pellerin and brothers, Leo Shrum of Morinville, Albert (Marie) Shrum of Whitecourt, John (Stella) Shrum of St. Albert; Kathy Anderson's son, Jim (Sarah) Rennie and granddaughter, Hannah. Mary Smoole (Oakes) of Edmonton, formerly of Whitecourt, passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Mary leaves to mourn her son, Jim Smoole and his wife, Katie; daughter, Donna-Lee Smoole (Bussche) of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Bobbie-Jo Bussche-Jones and Ross Jones and great-grandchild to be! Grandson, Brad-Lee Bussche; special pet dog and companion "Julio." Predeceased by her parents, father, Fred Oakes (1961) and mother, Kathleen Oakes (1968). SVARICH, Emily Marie (nee Winarski)
September 5, 1917 - February 3, 2003
Emily died suddenly but peacefully of heart failure with no pain or suffering. She passed away enjoying a game of bridge with Bill, her loving companion by her side. Emily is survived by Bill, her partner and soul mate of 30 years; her three children, Ron and his wife Susan Svarich, Pat Dober and Doug Svarich all of Edmonton. She also leaves her treasured grandchildren, Jennifer Dober of Oyama, B.C., Rob and his wife Michelle Svarich of Edmonton, and Bonnie and her husband Steve Woolfenden of Oakville, Ontario; her sister Carol George and her sisters-in-law Viola Svarich and Kay Wynn all of Edmonton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, her many many friends at bridge and bingo, her neighbors and close friends at Riondel on Kootaney Lake and in Edmonton, and her fellow Veteran and Legion Members. Emily was predeceased by her husband Bob (Dr. A.B.) Svarich, her brothers Paul and Alec; and her sisters, Ann, Gene and Betty. Friends and family wishing to pay their respects, may do so on Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue. THOMAS, Susie (Sandulak)
1923 - 2003
Susie, a long time resident of Drumheller, passed away peacefully at the Rockeyview Hospital in Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband David Thomas. Susie is survived by her daughters Susan Jacobsen and April Jutras (Alan), her grandchildren Jenny, Greg, Jordan, Joseph, Shalom, Ryan, Adam; her great-grandchildren Leanna, Elizabeth, and Jack; her sisters Sandy (George) and Shirley (Bob), her brother Sam (Betty) and nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to all who were involved in Mom's care, Dr. Askin, Dr. Basinger, Mabyn, Claire and Jennie. We will greatly miss Mom's gentleness and her beautiful smile. Funeral will be held at Courtney-Winters Funeral Chapel, 2nd Avenue, 2nd Street in Drumheller, Alberta, on February 7th, 2003 at 1:00 pm.

WEIDENHAMER, Thomas C.
Thomas (Tom) C. Weidenhamer, beloved husband of Bernice of Edmonton, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2003 at the age of 89. He was born in Deloraine, Manitoba on March 24, 1913. He later married Bernice Ewing on March 3, 1941 in High River, Alberta. He taught school, farmed and served on numerous committees before moving to Edmonton in 1956 where he worked with the Alberta School Trustees Association, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge, Kirk United Church and a charter member of the Klondike Trailer Club. Besides his loving wife Bernice, he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Pat Caley (Michael), son Ken, daughter-in-law Eileen Kuhl, four granddaughters, Aerin Caley of Toronto, Megan Mill (Geoff) of Alaska, Laurie and Lindsey Weidenhamer both of Edmonton and a nephew Graydon Weidenhamer of Sundre, AB. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Inez. A Memorial Service will be held at Kirk United Church, 13535 - 122 Avenue, on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Mullen officiating. Cremation has taken place.
