Mary Gertrude Rostron (nee Diercks) passed away at Strathmore, Alberta on January 20, 2005 at the age of 90 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Carol (Craig) Gordon, granddaughters Rachele and Holly Gordon as well as sister-in-law Doris Diercks. Mary was born in Ohrnville, Alberta on August 9, 1914. She was one of four children born to Rosa (nee Moeller) and Herman Diercks. She had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm located along Strawberry Creek in the Fruitland District near Thorsby, Alberta. On December 28, 1937 Mary married Allan T. Rostron, a school teacher at the one-room Fruitland School. They lived in several teacherages in Clan Donald and Derwent then later moved to Mannville, Leduc, Brooks and Strathmore. Where ever they lived, Mary created beautiful flower gardens and was well known for her “Green Thumb”. Developing and improving recipes was a passion carried over from her days on the farm when she and her sisters would cook for threshing crews. Mary also worked in the CIBC Bank in Mannville as well as the County Office in Leduc. Retirement followed with time to enjoy her granddaughters as well as do some traveling. They enjoyed several trips across Canada with nephew Roy Arnold at the wheel of his motor home. Mary was predeceased by her husband on September 9, 1994. They had been happily married for 57 years. Mary will be remembered for her cheerfulness and her selfless concern for others. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at Strathmore United Church at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Murray Etty officiated. Interment followed at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Strathmore Hospital Continuing Care Unit (200 Brent Blvd., Strathmore T1P 1J9). WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD. Reinhold Arndt, of Leduc, AB
With sadness we announce the passing of Reinhold Arndt of Leduc on January 25, 2005 at the age of 95 years.
Reinhold is survived by his loving family, sons: Earnest §(Ethel) of Nova Scotia, Harold of Sherwood Park, Herman of Calgary and Raymond (Elaine) of Sherwood Park, grandchildren; Reinhold, Connie, Pamela, Robert, Kimberly, Cory, Michael and Tina, 8 great-grandchildren also his brothers; David, Evald and Alfred, his sister Alice and nieces and nephews. Reinhold was predeceased by his wife Nellie in 1998.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, January 27, 2005 between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel, 4802 - 47 Avenue, Leduc. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 4606 - 48 Street, Leduc with Reverend Greg Kern officiating, interment will follow in the Leduc Cemetery.

On January 22, 2005 Albert C. J. Gudelot, of Calmar, beloved husband of Lynn passed away at the age of 74 years.

Edna Pederson, of Leduc, AB
Edna Pederson (nee Dixon), our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma, sister and aunt, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the age of 97 years.
Mother is lovingly remembered by her four sons and two daughters: Berwyn (Elma) Pederson of Calmar; Nona (Ed) Corvi of Santa Maria, California; Bobbie (Audrey) Pederson of Red Deer; Nedra (Gerald) Schuler of Westbank, B.C.; Orland (Valerie) Pederson of Westbank, B.C. and Leroy (Patricia) of Grande Prairie, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and 9 step-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elsie Phillips of Leduc and Lillian Bostrom of Calmar and one brother, Ray Dixon of Calmar and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
Edna was predeceased by her husband, Bill Pederson in 1978, an infant son, Ray in 1934, two grandsons, Rowie Weiting in 1983 and Kent McColm (Schuler) in 1985, also five brothers and four sisters.
We have precious memories of her immense love of people, gentle ways, amazing memory, hearty laugh and many warm hugs. The unconditional sacrifices she made will forever be cherished in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Leduc Planeview Manor and Leduc Hospital for their exceptional loving care.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 26 at Telford House, Leduc. Memorial donations may be made to Conjuring Creek Cemetery or directly to donor’s choice. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date.

Ray Oliver Pearson, of Calmar, AB
On Tuesday, January 25, 2005, Ray Pearson of Calmar passed away at his home at the age of 82 years.
Ray is survived by his brothers, Vernon and Lloyd (Angela) of Leduc, 11 nieces and nephews, also many other relatives and friends. Ray was predeceased by his parents, L. Andrew in 1966 and Elin in 1991, brother Clair in 1994 and an infant brother Marvin, two sisters-in-law Avis in 1993 and Gudrun (Goody) in 2000.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calmar Royal Canadian Legion Hall with Reverend Ed Link officiating.
Donations may be made to the Willow Creek Cemetery of the charity of one’s choice.

On Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the age of 81, Peter Borys passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Peter is survived by his loving family; his wife of 55 years, Lavia, daughter Sonja (Murray) Spence of Athabasca; sons, Allen (Carol) Borys of Sherwood Park and Eugene (Rhonda) Borys of Leduc; grandchildren, Roxanne (Dean) Persson, Wade (Dawn) Juknies, Melissa Borys (Darren Myrhaugen), Lisa (Brent) Kelly, Leah Colborne, Lindsay and Loren Borys, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by a son-in-law Herbert Juknies, parents Wasyl and Katherine Borys, his brothers and sisters Harry, Annie, Pearl, Eva, Mary, Nettie, Alex, Theodere, Metro and Andrew.
Prayers were held on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Nisku. Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church with Reverend Igor Kisil, Celebrant. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

With sadness we announce the passing of Sherril Arlene Miller of Warburg on January 9, 2005 at the age of 56 years.
Sherril is survived by her loving family, her husband, Verlyn, son Dale (Tammy) Miller of Warburg and daughter Krista Miller of Edmonton and granddaughter Lori, her mother Rita Dueck of Ryley and stepmother Dorothy Adams of Slave Lake, brothers Dennis (Lorna) Adams, Dave (Carmen) Dueck, Gerald (Diane) Adams and Grant (Brenda) Adams, sisters, Linda (Gary) Sigsworth and Freda Sylvius also nieces and nephews. Sherril was predeceased by her father Waldo Adams and step-father Peter Dueck.

The Funeral Service will be Friday (today), January 14, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Pioneer Community Hall, Warburg with Pastor Bob Voth officiating. Interment will follow in the Warburg Union Cemetery.
