On January 2, 2004 Percy Russell Fletcher of Edmonton and Leduc passed away at the age of 93 years.
Percy is survived by his loving wife Edythe; two sons and two daughters, Betty (Bruce) Graham, Jerry Fletcher, both of White Rock, B.C. Bonnie Fletcher of Edmonton; Ted (Lorna) Fletcher of Leduc; two grandsons, James and Aaron Fletcher; one brother Kenneth Fletcher of Castor and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. No service will be held.

Hilda Weiss, of Leduc
On Tuesday, January 6, 2004, Hilda Weiss of Leduc passed away.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Richard on November 19, 2003. She is survived by two sons, Marvin of Leduc and Michael (Debby) of Calgary; two grandchildren, Sarah and Mason; one sister, Ella of Leduc; one brother, Erwin of Germany; stepsisters, Toby of Leduc, Ruth of Edmonton and her special friend Margret of Leduc.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church, Leduc (4606 - 48 Street) with Reverend Greg Kern officiating. Interment to the Leduc Cemetery. Donations in memory of Hilda may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church, Leduc or to the charity of one’s choice.

Ida Berg (nee: Madu), of Leduc
She died peacefully in the evening of January 5, 2004 with Ellen and Alma at her side, at the age of 94 years.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters; Ellen (William) Kemp, and Alma (Jacob) Lange, grandchildren; Alvin (Heather) Kemp, Marie ( Michael) Kemp; Douglas (Nadine) Lange, Carol (Lyle) Garstad, five great grandsons; Murray, Jeffrey and Kurt Kemp; and Erik and Alex Garstad.
She is also survived by two sisters; Alma Kneller and Sally ( Paul) Stabel, one brother Ferd ( Myrtle) Madu; sisters-in- laws; Olga, Lucy, Lydia, Eileen and Evelyn, many nieces and nephews, and one uncle Julius Oswald and one Aunt Darlie Oswald.
She was predeceased by her husband William, son Martin, two grandsons; Earl and Louis Lange, brothers; John, Ernest, August, Matthies, Alfred and Edward and one sister-in-law Lucy.
Funeral services will be on Saturday January 10, 2004 at 1:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Leduc. Interment at Leduc Cemetary.
If so desired memorial tributes may be made to Salem Manor nursing Home, Leduc; Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the charity of donors choice.
George Edward Egleston, of Vancouver
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George Edward Egleston. Born in Calgary, AB on December 10, 1922. George died peaceful with family at his side on Monday January 5, 2004. Beloved husband and best friend of Helen for 56 years. Beloved father to Lynda (Tom) Blackstock of Williams Lake, B.C., Jim (Janice) Egleston of Leduc, AB and Helen (Wayne) Huffman of Tsawwassen, B.C. He was “Grouch” to his dearly loved six grandchildren Chris (Tammy) Egleston in Toronto, ON, Heather Egleston in Calgary, AB, Richard Egleston in Edmonton, AB, Megan Huffman in Victoria, B.C., Mike Huffman in Lennoxville, PQ and Lisa Blackstock in Williams Lake, B.C. Survived by his sisters Jane Wood, Calgary, AB and Marion Tully, Vancouver, B.C. and his brother Allen Egleston, Seattle. George was predeceased by his son, George, in 1966, his infant grandson, David, in 1987 and his sister Grace Williamson. A memorial service will be held at the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver on Monday January 12, 2004 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Vancouver Prostate Cancer Group or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Allen Roy Hartfelder, of Calmar
On October 17, 2005 Allen Roy Hartfelder of Calmar, Alberta passed away at the age of 68 years.
Allen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, his loving wife Cecilia of 46 years; one son and three daughters, David (Chris), Sharon (Murray) Hulkovich, Cathy (Dirk) Kelm, Connie (Darryl) Taylor; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Shayla, Brett, Lindsey, Mark, Tyler, Rachel, Tristan; two brothers, Ruben (Gloria), Harvey (Bernice); two sisters, Irene (Ron) Reed, Elaine (Bob) Wagner; brother-in-law Gerald Wagner; the Krawiec family, and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Lydia Hartfelder, sister Dianne Wagner and nephew Andy Hartfelder.

Bessie Hazel Thomas, of Calmar, AB
On October 9, 2005 Bessie Thomas of Calmar passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in the presence of her loving family.
Bessie is remembered by her loving daughter and two sons: Vivian Monaghan, Ray (Carol) Thomas all of Calgary and Gerald (Iona) Thomas of Leduc; seven grandchildren: Lorna, Marion, Heather, Pamela, Jeffrey, Michael and Jenelle; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Annie, Violet all of Thorsby and Helen Kobeluck of Leduc, Nadia Thomas of Calmar; brother in-law Mike Thomas of Vancouver. Bessie was predeceased by her husband Carl (June 1996), parents Sam and Annie; sisters Katie, Annie, Mary; brothers Mike, Bill, Victor, George, Metro, John and son-in-law Bill.
Prayer service will be held on October 14, 2005 at 7:30 pm at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Calmar. Funeral mass officiated by Rev. Frank Laverty will be held at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church on October 15 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Donations in memory of Bessie can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Jens G. Christensen, of Edmonton, Alberta
Jens Christensen passed away suddenly Saturday, April 9, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Linda, children; Danny, Michael (Nicole), Tracy (Troy), Calvin, brothers and sisters, Preben (Eva), Birthe (Kurt), Elsie (Erling), Kirsten (Finn), aunt and uncle Hegelund (Olga), numerous nieces and nephews, Bedste Far to Brendan, “Jordan Jens”, Elizabeth, Jacob, Rachel and Joshua. He is also lovingly remembered by in laws mother Evelyn, sister Kathy (Fred) niece Christy (Jim) and their daughter; Taylor and Sharlene (Chris).
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Ansgar Danish Lutheran Church, 9554-108A Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Society or Ansgar Danish Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

Raymond John Matthews, of Breton, AB
March 25, 1926 to March 18, 2005
Born in Ponoka, Ray grew up and resided in the Breton/Winfield areas where he farmed for 50 years. He also worked in the lumber, water well drilling, road and oilfield construction industries.
He is survived by his loving wife Vi of 59 years; sons Gary (Rita), Stan (Brenda); daughters Diana, Darlene (Wade); daughter-in-law Sue (Ron); sisters Jean Levers and Verna Wall, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Marie and son Harold.
Memorial Service was held March 23, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Breton Community Hall with Pastor Dan Olsen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or Breton Cemetery Fund.

Donovan Hobart Frederick Dowler, of Peterborough, Ontario
On March 11, 2005 Donovan Dowler passed away at the age of 79 surrounded by his family. He was born in Calgary, Alberta to the late Hobart and Sarah Dowler. Don is survived by his wife Kathleen, his five children, Susan Ellis and her husband Don, Sandra Park, Paul Dowler, Patrick Dowler and this wife Norma and Anthony Dowler and his wife Farida, his 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother William Dowler and his sister Betty Holmgren. After a 26 year career with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Don served as co-founder and Vice Chairman of the Fisheries Joint Management Committee for 18 Years. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dowler residence, 813 Norwood Terrace, Peterborough, Ontario. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 4 Reid St. Lakefield, Ontario. Interment to take place at Young’s Point Cemetery, Ontario. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wayside Academy.
