VANSTONE -- Margaret Vanstone, of Black Diamond, AB, passed away at her residence on Friday, January 16, 1998 at the age of 92 years. Margaret taught for many years in the Northland and East Smokey School districts before retiring in 1970. WARE -- Geoffrey Windsor passed away peacefully on January 16, 1998 at the age of 70 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Violet and his sister Betty. Geof is survived by his loving wife Melba who he married June 29, 1950. GORMAN -- Susanne Bowie. On January 9, 1998, Susanne went to be with her Lord at the age of 88 years, while being at the Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital. Susanne was predeceased by her husband John Cullen, brother William and sister Mary. She leaves behnd her son J. Ronald (Barbara); grandson J. Drew (Christine); two great-grandchildren, David and Bradley; six nieces, Eileen, Kathleen, Marge, Lorraine, Debbie and Lavone; and three nephews, William, John and Terry. KERR -- Colin Morrison Kerr passed away at his home on January 3, 1998 at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Ogle); and six children, Ralph (Lynn) Kerr, Carol (Barry) Poffenroth, Ken Kerr, Colleen Ruszkowski, Jo-Ann (Troy) Jamieson, Jakie (Marty) Lyle; and thirteen grandchildren. RUMBLE -- Gladys Rumble of Crossfield, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Wednesday, January 7, 1998 at the age of 89 years. Gladys was born in England, May 18, 1908 and came to Canada in 1966. She had resided in Cochrae, Taber and Calgary before moving to Crossfield. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her companion of thirty-two years, Charles Kraus. She is also survived by a daughter Jean, son-in-law Les and grandson Derek, all of England; as well as a brother Lawrence and many cousins, nieces and nephews also all of England. RYAN -- Agnes McGinn Ryan (nee Kilgannon), "Aunt Agnes" passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Care Centre on Wednesday, January 7, 1998 at 91 years. Born in Stirling, Scotland on August 27, 1906, her family immigrated to Coleman, Alberta in 1909. Folowing her graduation from St. Paul's Hospital in 1929, her nursing career took her to Coleman, Calgary, then Rocky Mountain House as Assistant, then Matron until retirement in 1972. She returned to Calgary and lived in Kanerva House from 1978 to 1995, later moving to the Fanning Centre. She was very active in CWL, Kanerva House Social Committee and Greater Forest Lawn Senior Citizens Society. Her family and friends were an important part of her life as well. She was a special lady, enjoying life to its fullest. She was predeceased by her husband Paddy Ryan (1952). She is survived by six nieces and two nephews and their families, June and Jack Sandgathe of Kaleden, Pat and Alf Thompson of Coleman, Sharon and Jack Turner of High River, Mikki and Bill Brown of Whitehorse, Kathy and Dave Hill of Blairmore, Ms. Francine Kilgannon of Coleman, Mrs. Katherine Wagner of Manchester, Missouri, Mr. Bill Jones of Vancouver, and Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kilgannon of England. SANTIAGO -- Bienvenido Santiago Jr., beloved husband of Sallie and father of Gary, Jerome and Karen, went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 1998 at the age of 55 years. Viewing and Funeral dates will be announced on January 14 to allow out-of-contry family members to arrive.
SIDE -- Agnes Elizabeth Side (nee Thomson) passed away at Agape Manor in Calgary, January 8, 1998, at the age of 77 years. Agnes was born in Waterloo, Ontario, June 12, 1920, third child of Thomas and Janet Thomson who emigrated from Scotland in 1910 The family moved in 1921 to Winnipeg where she grew up, cherishing her association with Crescent-Fort Rouge United Church. On June 7, 1941, she married William Murray Side and subsequently had four children, Allan William of Calgary, Barbara Lynne of Delta, BC, Robert Gordon of Kelowna, BC, and Lorraine Frances of Millarville, Alta. Agnes moved from Winnipeg to Calgary in 1979 but lost her husband Bill late that year to a heart attack. She continued to make her home in Northwest Calgary until her passing, enjoying family and friends locally and as they visited Calgary. Agnes is survived by brothers, Thomas of Medicine Hat, Alta., and Andrew of Great Falls, Montana, and by her only sister Edna of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by brothers, Gordon of Abbotsford, BC, and John of Calgary. Agnes was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Allan's youngest children, Amanda and Brady, live with him and wife Deborah in Calgary, and his daughter Jennifer lives in Canmore, Alta. Barbara and husband Ted Foster have three sons, Wes of Lacombe, Alta. (who has two children, Chris and Sherri-Ann), Greg of Ladner, BC (who has three boys, Cody, Curtis and Tyler), and Trevor of Delta, BC. Robert has adult children, Jodi of Inwood, Manitoba (who has two children, Keefe and Liadan), and Kevin of Winnipeg, and he and wife Melora have Crista, Wayne, Rebecca, and Roberta with them in Kelowna. Lorraine and her husband Phil Pearson have daughter Jennifer of Richmond, BC, and Amy and Dan who attend U of C in Calgary. Agnes was "Grandma" to all the children and pictures of each one were always close at hand in her home. Agnes was an accomplished artist in many media, and was President of the Winnipeg Art Club in the mid-1970's and active for many more years. She and husband Bill were honored by the City of Winnipeg for their contribution to the City's Centennial celebrations in 1974 with their ceramic and other art pieces. Agnes was an accredited teacher in the art of painting fine china and porcelain dolls, and produced many commissioned works for private collections. Agnes struggled valiantly with cancer in her final days and was sustained by family and friends at home and finally in Agape Manor. The family extends heartfelt thanks for special support shown to Agnes by Dr. David Todd and the staff at Agape Manor when it meant so much.
