On December 10, 2004 Benny Blade of Wetaskiwin, Alberta passed away at the age of 69 years. Benny is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his children, Dustin, Karen (Murray) of Millet, Kathy (Hugh) of Gwynne, Tom, Terry, Ricky, Christine, Charlene, Clifford and Rosie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother, Herbert (Hilda) Blade; sister; Tillie (Ed) Balzer as well as many friends. Benny was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Paulina Blade; wife, Shirley; brothers, Dan, Gilbert and Art and by his sister, Elsie Price. In memory of Benny, a trust fund has been established at the T.D. Canada Trust in Wetaskiwin for Dustin Blade. CALDICOTT, Thomas Edward
Sept. 17, 1912 - Dec. 5, 2004
Ed was born at Tredegar, Monmouthshire, South Wales and emigrated to Canada in January, 1929 at age 16. He married Lila Ethel Reid on March 29, 1938 at Brightview, Alberta. He farmed west of Wetaskiwin in the Lone Ridge area until 1972 when he and Lila retired to Armstrong, B.C. He was very active in the Armstrong Senior Centre, was president for several years and became a Life and Charter member. In 2001, Ed moved to Sicamous, B.C. where he enjoyed living at the Sicamous Lodge for the past three years. Ed served overseas with the Canadian Scottish Regiment during W.W. II. Ed was predeceased by his wife Lila on Sept. 18, 2001, and is survived by one brother, Jack Caldicott of Birmingham, England and three daughters: Carolyn (Richard) Janzen of Sicamous, B.C, Judy (Art ) Merrick of Ardrossan, Alta. and Brenda (Bob) Hill of Golden, B.C., eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in the United Kingdom. Upon Ed's request no funeral service will be held.
KALAU, Bertha
On December 12, 2004 Bertha Kalau of Wetaskiwin, Alberta passed away at the age of 95 years. Bertha is survived by her loving family; sons, Walter (Charlein) of Chilliwack, B.C. and Adolph (Lorraine) of Millet; grandchildren, Karen, Tom (Debbie), Kathleen (Len) and Cheryl (Graham); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mata of Germany as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Gus in 1964; grandson, Ronald in 1986 and by her brothers and sisters, Ottilie, Margaret, Ed, Adolph, Gus, Ewald and Karl. Funeral service was held at Grace Lutheran Church, 4218-56 Avenue, Wetaskiwin on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rita Roste officiating. Interment followed at the Millet Cemetery. William Forth was born December 12, 1913 in Wetaskiwin and entered into rest on January 19, 2005 in Lacombe. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughters, Velma Rau of Calgary, Verna (Rudy) Klarenbach of Kelowna, B.C., Ellen (Wayne) Maygard of Gwynne and Irene (Bernie) Stepanko of Edmonton; his son Clarence (Linda) of Buck Lake; his brother Edwin (Ruth); his sisters, Elsie Feldberg and Lily (Ben) Kreutz; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friends Michael and Fern Decaire. He was predeceased by his daughter Doreen; his parents Julius and Martha; and infant brother Clarence; sister Clara and brother-in-law Fred Kolody; brother Alvin and sister-in-law Pat; brother Henry; sister Margaret and brother-in-law Frank Emmerling; and brother-in-law Ernest Feldberg. A funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Mirror Alliance Church with the interment service following at the Mirror Cemetery. On April 5, 2005 Albert Hoffman of Wetaskiwin, Alberta passed away at the age of 86 years. Albert was born at Stony Plain, Alberta to Rudolf and Emilie Hoffman on January 17, 1919. He is survived by his loving family; wife of 62 years, Emma; daughter, Marilyn (Dennis) Keller and son, Terry (Patricia) Hoffman; four grandchildren, Cari (Shamus) McDonnell, Jay (Lisa) Maygard, Kim Keller and Jonathan Hoffman; four great-grandchildren, Colton, NaKai and Grace McDonnell and Nathan Maygard; son-in-law, Mark Maygard; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hoffman, Elsie Jones and Hilda Dewald. Albert was predeceased by his daughter, Darlene Maygard; brother, Sam and by his sisters, Christine Babwik, Alma Ziebarth and Rosalie Reglin. HUMBKE, Marvalin Catherine Marvalin Humbke of Camrose, Alberta passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the age of 91 years at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose. Marvalin is survived by one daughter, Rose Marie Peters of Calgary; five sons, Roger of China, Harvey (Louise) of Edmonton, Bevan (Carolyn) of New Zealand, Louie of Alix, and Mark of Narmata, B.C./Yemen; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine of Vernon, B.C. and Jeanette (Junie) of Wetaskiwin; one sister-in-law, Vina Jacobsen of Camrose; numerous friends and relatives. Marvalin was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; daughter-in-law Kathy; great-granddaughter Emily; her parents, Fred and Clara Vanouck; and three brothers, Charles, Edward and Orval. MOSTERT, Pieter
On February 7, 2006, Pieter Mostert of Wetaskiwin, Alberta (formerly of Prince George, B.C.) passed away at the age of 92 years. He is lovingly remembered by his family; daughters, Marie (David) Donahue of Millet and Glenis Burke of Millet; grandchildren, Brian Spencer (Shannon), Robyn Spencer, Stacey (Ghislain) Lebrun, Jason Burke; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Savanna, Jocelynne and Christian and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pieter was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen; son, Peter; sister, Janke; brothers, Chris and Nick. Weber: Mrs. Merridy Marlene Weber (nee Clarke), wife of Mr. John Weber of Hillcrest, passed away from complications arising from diabetes, arthritis and heart disease at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the age of 69 years.
Besides her loving husband John, Merridy is survived by her daughter Cynthia Chambers of Lethbridge, her three grandchildren, Kristen Erasmus of Victoria, Che Erasmus of Toronto, Theresa Erasmus of Lethbridge and her great grandson Brandon Erasmus of Victoria.
She is also survived by her brother, George William Clarke of Whitehorse and his children, Leslie and David Clarke of Seattle, Washington. Merridy was predeceased by her father George William Clarke and her mother Alice DeKirby Klucheski (nee Hardy).
Merridy was born February 13, 1932 in Vancouver, BC and lived in Whitehorse, Aklavik, Fort Good Hope, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Stony Plain, Alberta Beach and Kelowna.
Merridy and John resided in Hillcrest Mines, Alberta from 1998 until her death.
Merridy was a courageous, loving and generous woman with a sharp wit and mind, which she retained until the end.
At Merridy’s request she will be cremated. There will be no service.

Mrs. Freda Vander Haeghe of Stony Plain, passed away at the age of 90 years.
Freda is survived by her son Ken(Sharon) of Vernon, B.C. daughter Janet Hansen (Walter) of Spruce Grove; seven grandchildren, Susan, Michael, April, Dawn, Lorna, Wayne and Sandra; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and her sister Alma Strang of Edmonton.
She was predeceased by her husband Alvy “ Bud” and son Neale.
A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. from Parkland Funeral Chapel, 3502-44 Avenue, Stony Plain, with Reverend Walter Schoepp officiating.

Carlson, Jean R.:
Originally of Seba Beach, AB - last 10 years of Victoria, BC, died peacefully on November 8, 2001 in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gustav Erland in 1968 and eldest son, Sven Robert in 1967.
Jean gave much joy to everyone in the special way she participated in and appreciated life.
Our wonderful Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother and Aunt, Jean will be sadly missed by her children (+ spouses) and families: Ann (Lee Hodgson), Eric (Gwen), Jack (Jackie), Jane and Mac (MaryAnn); grandchildren: Alan, Sherry, Brian & Pam Hodgson, John David, Shane, Trent, Leah, Randy, Christine, Cameron, Roy Kelly and Terri Carlson; eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Seba Beach in May 2002.

Shirley Marguerite Haak (nee Hicks)
With a heavy heart and great sorrow we make this announcement.
Following a long hard-fought battle with cancer, Shirley Marguerite Haak (nee Hicks) went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on the 28th day of September 2002 in Edmonton, Alberta.
She was born on the 29th day of March in 1941 in Stratford Ontario.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Marty (soul mate and special friend of 39 years), her son Paul (Sharon) of Grande Prairie, AB and her daughters Wendy (Harold) Ingram of Fort St. John, BC and Laurie Brock of Stony Plain, AB.
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren – Jennifer, Gilda, Jaime, Candis, Kyle, Roger and Mitchell.
They all held a special place in her heart and she wants them to know that they will always be able to talk to her though their own hearts.
Also mourning her loss will be her brother, Gary (Georgette) Hicks of Southhampton, Ontario.
She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws and many, many good and close friends.
She was predeceased by her son Kevin, mother Dorothy Crew and father Victor Hicks.
She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother and grandmother, who always put the needs of others before her own. She touched the lives and hearts of many people through her many selfless acts of love, devotion and commitments. If there were angels here on earth, she would have been one. She was always there with advice, praise, encouragement, assistance, and random acts of kindness and giving.
