Mrs. Eva Myrtle McColl of Innisfail passed away Monday, June 2, 2003 at the age of 78 years. Eva was born January 31, 1925 at Innisfail, Alberta to Russell and Myrtle Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Wilma (Emil) Michalsky and one son, Len McColl; grandchildren, Stephen (Laura), Blaine (Marie), Coln (Crystal) and Harry (Sherry); and three great grandchildren, Coln, Jessica and Isaac. Eva was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) McColl in 1993; parents, Russell and Myrtle Smith; two brothers, Stan and Harold Smith; and two grandchildren, Michael and Aaron in infancy. Margaret Veronica Nelson of Red Deer, Alberta, born in Monitor, Alberta on October 10, 1913, passed away at the Dr. Richard Parson's Auxiliary Hospital on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Margaret is survived by her sister, Martha Gathercole of Airdrie, Alberta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her good friends, Fred and Nora Dobing of Edmonton. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of the Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67TH Street, Red Deer, on Monday, June 9, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverend Bob Wilson. COOKE
The family of Harry Mc Dermott Cooke sadly announce his peaceful passing at his home in Innisfail on July 30, 2003. Harry was born on January 9, 1934 in Innisfail. He was raised on the farm and at the age of seventeen he enlisted into the R.C.A.F. and faithfully served his country for 25 years. During this time he met and married his loving wife, Muriel Doreen Fidler in 1954. After retiring from the armed forces he became a guard at the Bowden Penitentiary where he fully retired at the age of 55. Harry was a past president and remained an active life member of the Innisfail Legion Branch #104. He drove the handy bus and one of his special times was driving the seniors around to see the Christmas lights. His life long passion was golfing and he played the game to the end. Harry was an active swimmer, bowler and was always ready for a game, especially cards. Between golfing he loved to fish and travel. Family and friends were very important and his loyalty towards each was unprecedented. He thought nothing of jumping in his vehicle to go see his friends all across Canada. He will be sadly missed by all. Harry was predeceased by his wife Muriel and son Robert, his father Perry and his mother Ethel. He is survived by son John (Norma), daughter Patty (Jeff), brother Allan (Sue), sisters Norma (Ivor) Levesconte and Margie Cooke, daughter-in-law Kathy, grandsons Brian and Sean, numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Elizabeth Hall of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Friday, August 1, 2003 at the age of 85 years. Elizabeth was born near Vegreville, Alberta on September 9, 1917 and lived in Alberta her entire life. Elizabeth's main interests in life were her home and her family. She was an energetic and feisty little woman who will be greatly missed by her loved ones. Elizabeth leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Harriet (Frank) Mitchell of Spruceview, Alberta, Ron (Leanne) Hall of Red Deer and Elaine (Harry) Hall of Sylvan Lake; her five grandchildren, Greg Symes (Dana), Theresa Hall, Susan Hall (Alan), Melanie Hall and Debbie Symes (Keith), five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Edwin in March of 1992, two brothers, three sisters, a grandson and a granddaughter. HANNAH, Mary Margaret
Mrs. Mary Hannah of Rocky Mountain House passed away peacefully at the Valley Park Manor on July 31, 2003 at the age of 86. She will be missed by her adult children: Sharon Mathew and her husband Frank, Betty Hackman and her husband Peter, Don Hannah and his wife Sharon; and by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rose Ewing and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her husband Ron and their daughter Patricia. For all the lucky kids that knew her as their grandma, they will surely miss her kind words and generous way. For all the fortunate people that knew her as a friend, they will miss her companionship and loyalty. Of course, Mary's last car ride will be in a Cadillac. HILLMAN, Jesse
Mrs. Jessie C. Hilman, beloved wife of Mr. Art Hilman of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the age of 87 years. Jessie came to Canada as a child at eight years of age from Edinburgh, Scotland along with her mother and father, and two brothers, Tom and Dick Cameron. They first settled in Central Butte, Saskatchewan in 1924. She spent her youth attending to the Family Bakery and then going to Normal School to become a teacher. Jessie moved to Sylvan Lake, Alberta with her family in 1938. She met and married Art Hilman in 1943. Their son, Don was born in Nordegg, Alberta and the Hilman Family established themselves in Red Deer in 1953. Jessie worked joyously at Teaching and School Administration until her retirement in 1974. Her sixty years of marriage to Art was recognized by congratulatory messages from around the world. Jessie will be missed by all she touched during her gracious years on this earth. Jessie leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, Art, her son, Donald of Victoria, British Columbia and two grandchildren, Laura and Jeff, also of Victoria, British Columbia. A Celebration of Jessie's Life will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Fran Hare officiating.
