JOBS

Dean Maxwell Jobs of Eckville passed away peacefully on January 29, 2001 at his home in the presence of his loving family. Dean was born in Red Deer on September 20, 1975. He is survived by his loving parents, Art and Carol Jobs; his sister Deanna (Shane) Matthews, Jensyn, Robbie and Jayleen of Sylvan Lake; his (Twin) brother Devon Jobs of Calgary, and Dana (Derek) Dickson of Alhambra. His grandparents Knut and Alma Sunde of Rocky Mountain House, great aunt Margaret Schmidek of Red Deer, Lorna and Danny Snow of Calgary, Lorill Armstrong, Pennie Wiegand and numerous other family and friends. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Herbert and Anna Jobs. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eckville Community Centre with the Rev. Sandra Franklin-Law officiating.

JOHNSTON

Frank William Johnston of Lacombe passed away in the Dr. Richard Parsons Care Center on February 10, 2001 at the age of 85 years. Frank was born in Vulcan, Alberta on June 17, 1915. He lived in Vulcan and attended the local rural school. In 1938 Frank moved to Lacombe. From Lacombe he moved north to Alaska in 1941 and later that same year was united in marriage to Inez Irving of Leduc. The newly married couple moved to Vancouver where they lived for the next 48 years. Frank worked as a field man for the British Columbia Motor Association. Frank was predeceased by his wife Inez in 1986, his parents, Sam and Alda Johnston, brothers, Buster and Harold and by his sister Ruth. In July 1991, Frank married Pearl Hug. They lived at Gull Lake where Frank enjoyed working in his yard and taking long walks. They moved to Lacombe in 1999. Frank and Pearl enjoyed travelling to Europe and the British Islands. They also travelled to Alaska, where 50 years earlier, Frank had worked for the B.C.M.9 on the construction of the Alaska Highway. Frank was caring and accepting of his newly extended family. "Grandpa Frank" once told his nurse that he had no children, but he had ten grandchildren! He will be lovingly missed by his wife Pearl and her family as well as by his two sisters, Muriel Harriman of Lacombe and Eva Howard of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society, Box 5576, Lacombe, AB, T4L 1X2. Cecelia Ann Kreil beloved wife of Tony Kreil of Spruce View, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 17, 2001 at the age of 57 years. Cecelia is the loving mother of two sons and one daughter Tim and Cameron Kreil and Karen Christiansen. A funeral service will be held at Innisfail United Church on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Innisfail Cemetery. LAYDEN, Elsie Nora Clarke

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Elsie Layden of Olds, Alberta on February 1, 2001 at the Olds General Hospital. She was 73 years of age. Elsie is survived by her loving family, her husband of 55 years, Wilfred; her sons; Reg (Linda) of Thorsby, Richard (Donna) of Trochu and Clarence (Anita) of Drayton Valley, her daughters; Fern (Colin) Kinniburgh of Drayton Valley, Bev (Roger) Quast of Trochu, Heather (Doug) Johnson of Sundre and Angela (Vern) Kuzio of Drayton Valley; and 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren also her sister Pat (Art) Schmidt of Peace River. Elsie was predeceased by an infant daughter, Trudy in 1957 and her parents Walter and Mary Moore. Funeral Services will be held for Elsie at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 105, 5241-46 Street, Olds, Alberta on Monday, February 5, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Canon Lin Westman officiating. LEINWEBER

Mr. Adam Leinweber passed away on February 3, 2001, quietly in his sleep at the Red Deer Extended Care Facility at the age of 83 years. He was born in Calgary on February 17, 1917 and was raised in the Carstairs area, where he met and married his loving wife Christina Flynn. Adam served in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Infantry division. He was an active member of the Red Deer Legion Branch #35 for 28 years and a long standing member for 60 years. Adam and Christina lived in the Carstairs/Cremona area in their early years where he worked in the trucking industry, then on to Caroline where he worked in the lumber and hotel industry. He completed his career in the hotel industry working in Calgary, Carstairs and Red Deer. Adam retired from the hotel industry after a lengthy career at the Arlington Hotel. They resided in Red Deer until his passing. Adam is survived by his loving wife Christina of Red Deer and his seven children, Harvey (Jean) of Rocky Mountain House, Darlene (Merlin) of Lethbridge, Terry (Shelley) of Gull Lake, Ken (Emily) of Stony Plain, Sandy (Dale) of Red Deer, Susan (Dale) of Carstairs, Dale of Calgary, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father John and his mother Mary, three brothers and one sister. LEROUX

Alice "Lottie" Leroux, formerly of Red Deer beloved wife of the late Henry Leroux passed away at the Chinook Nursing Home, Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, February 17, 2001 at the age of 93 years. Lottie has led a very long, happy, healthy and busy life, up until her stroke 4 years ago. She spent her whole life taking care of and worrying about everyone but herself. She is going to be greatly missed by those she left behind. In honour of Lottie's wishes, a private family service will be held. Besides her loving husband, Lottie was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Victoria McKay, her brother Stanley McKay, four cousins, Russell, Wilfred, Ronald and Dorothy. LICHON, Lonnie

Born in Wetaskiwin on March 15, 1957, Lonnie lived at St. Francis for 7 years before moving with his parents to Sandholm. He passed away in Leduc on January 27, 2001. Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Valerie; mother, Lena; three sisters, Elaine (Gary) Albert, Brenda (Gary) Sandercock and Norma (Jim) Tyliszczak; one brother, Mathew; seven nieces and nephews; maternal grand-mother, Hulda Klatt; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Roman; maternal grandfather, Rudolph Klatt; and paternal grandparents, Tofield and Helen Lichon. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 5105 45A Street, Leduc, with Father Richard Bednar, Celebrant. Cremation to follow. MANNING

Mrs. Margaret "Jean" Manning of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Woodlea Cottage, Red Deer, on Thursday, January 25, 2001 at the age of 89 years. Jean was born on February 1, 1911 at Coleman, Alberta. Jean worked with her father in their family garage business in Youngstown and later at Delburne. There she met Jack Manning and the couple were married in 1938. They farmed and operated a feedmill business. Jack and Jean retired to Red Deer in 1974 where Jean was actively involved with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's League. Jean is survived by her three sons, Bob (Helene Hahn) of Delburne, Terry (Priscilla) of Guelph, Ontario, and Doug (Betty) of Red Deer; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Wright; her sister, Barbara (Bernard) Bowlen of Amarillo, Texas; her fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack of forty-four years; sons, Teddy and Michael; and her sister Roberta. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508-48 Avenue, Red Deer, on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Red Deer, on Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with The Reverend Donald Stein Celebrant.
