Kenneth Robert Michalezki of Red Deer passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary on February 12, 2001. Ken succumbed to the effects of a stroke he had suffered three weeks previously. Ken was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1946, to parents Michael and Barbara Michalezki. He leaves to mourn him his twin sister Stella Pullock (Calgary) and brothers, Paul (Red Deer), Lloyd (Sandra, Red Cliff), Ronald and Richard (Medicine Hat). Ken is survived by his children, Tina Paananen (Lorne, Fort McMurray), Erin Michalezki Archer and Chad Archer (Calgary), and two grandchildren, Larry and Kathy (Fort McMurray). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his special friend Darlene Jackson and her family. Ken leaves a large extended family and many friends to mourn his passing. Ken was predeceased by his son, Clayton James Archer, and his father, Michael Michalezki. He spent his childhood on the family farm until his family moved to Bow Island, AB. After living and working in Calgary for many years, he settled in Red Deer in 1983, where he was the owner/operator of a taxi and owned a hotshot business with his brother Paul. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at Parkland Christian Church, 5515-43 Street, Red Deer. Those who wish to may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
MILBURN
Kathleen Milburn passed away on February 4, 2001 at the Lacombe Community Health Care Center at the age of 94 years. Kathleen Alta Milburn was born to Lee & Minnie Maddox in Bigheart, Indian Territory (later Oklahoma) on December 15, 1906. The family moved to Alberta in 1913 to the Eureka Valley district. Kathleen married George Miller in 1924 and together had one daughter; Dixie Sisson of Morningside. George passed away in 1965. Kathleen then was united in marriage to Jim Milburn in 1968. They resided in the Lincoln district, later moving to Morningside. Jim passed away in 1986. Kathleen lived in Morningside until she moved to the Lacombe Nursing Home in 1998. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by her daughter Dixie, 3 grandchildren; Irene (Allen), Doug (Vicki) and Mary, 6 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends and the staff at the Nursing home. Funeral Services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Gull Lake Cemetery. MORGAN
Bruce Morgan of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the age of 56 years. Bruce was born at Calgary on May 2, 1944 then came to Red Deer in 1948 to what is now known as Michener Services. He leaves to mourn many friends and care givers at the Michener Services. He was predeceased by his brother William, his father William Henry Morgan in 1972 and his mother Audrey Jean Morgan in 1995. Funeral Services will be held at the North Leisure Centre at Michener Services, Red Deer, on Thursday, March 1, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. conducted by the Venerable Archdeacon Derek Hoskin. MURRAY
Mabel Murray of Delburne, beloved wife of the late John Murray (1988), passed away at the Three Hills General Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2001. Mabel was a very outgoing person and she had a lot of friends. She had a keen eye for jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed putting them together. She also enjoyed going on tours and meeting people and spending time in her rose garden. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and friends. Mabel is survived by two sons, Dwayne (Carol) of Delburne, Ian (Joan) of Condor, four grandsons, Dwayne Jr., Chris, Raymond, Steven (Pam), 1 grand-daughter, Christina (Justin) Wales, and seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Doreen (Vern) Rahoe of Stettler, Margaret (Bob) Doble of Brooks. Besides her loving husband, Mabel was predeceased by her brother Ernie Payne. A family graveside service will be conducted at the Delburne Cemetery at a later date. NEUBAUER
Mr. Delvon Neubauer of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the age of 66 years. Delvon was born on April 20, 1934 at Hanna. Since 1963, he has resided at Michener Centre, and moved into the community in June, 1998 with Sunrise Residential Services. His care givers referred to Delvon as an "Urban Fisherman", as his room was decorated in a fisherman theme. He liked coffee, pizza, watching people around him, books, children, dancing, the "Price Is Right" program and action films. Delvon made friends easily and loved to laugh and giggle. He was a quiet and private person, but when he did speak he would surprise everyone with his deep voice. He is survived by his mother, Lydia of Kelowna, B.C., and will be fondly remembered by his care givers, Marleah, Sharlene, Liz, Beth, Vera, Linda, Joyce, Doreen, Nelita, Lyle, Maria and Michelle; his roommates, Kenny, Richard as well as many other care givers and friends. A celebration of Delvon's life will be held at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Friday, February 23, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Stuart Fraser officiating. Mr. Ronald Allen Niemi of Red Deer passed away on January 31, 2001 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 53 years. Ron was born January 9, 1948 at Eckville, Alberta and spent his early years in Alberta & B.C. He graduated from Red Deer Composite High School and then attended S.A.I.T. Ron worked in Alberta doing sheet metal work, construction and pipeline. Ron is survived by his wife Eleanor of Red Deer, his children Todd Niemi of Calgary, Angela (Darcy) Ouellet of Penhold, granddaughters Hannah & Sadie, his mother Mildred, brother Dale (Sandy) Niemi, sister Barb (Gene) Bednard and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Vester in 1988. NYGAARD
Garnet Dale Nygaard of Sylvan Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the age of 52 years. Garnet was born July 11, 1948 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1957, Garnet moved with his family to Elnora and in 1970, he married Joan Smith of Sylvan Lake. Garnet worked in the oilfield where he will best be remembered as owner/operator of Whipline Crane Service and later, Garnet's Trucking. Garnet always said we're here for a good time not a long time and true to his motto, he worked hard and played hard. Enjoying his Harley's, hot rods and anything else with wheels and an engine. He was the life of the party, always quick with a joke or story to tell. Garnet is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan; one son Damian (Roumiela) of Windsor, ON; one daughter Celest of Edmonton; mother Ella of Sylvan Lake; two sisters Lilian Dahl of Stony Plain, Carol (Joe) Lacey of Sylvan Lake. He was predeceased by his father Walter. A public celebration of Garnet's life will be held Saturday, February 10, 2001 from 3-6 p.m. at Garnet's shop, #11 Erickson Crescent in Sylvan Lake. On Thursday, February 22, 2001 Victor William Owen of Bentley passed away at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his wife Beth, of Edmonton, his son, Keith (Barbara) Owen, his two daughters, Gwen (Vern) Friesen and Vicki (Dan) Livermore, eight grandsons, Darcy and Kory Owen, Rory, Matthew and Cole Friesen and Owen, Peter and Wray Liveremore, his four sisters, Joan Cassells Louise Pickering, Edna Larson, and Alice Fairgray, his two brothers, Philip Owen and Brian Harris as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vic was predeceased by a sister, May and grandson Michael. A celebration of Vic Owen's life will be held at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverand John Yoos officiating.
