SCHROPFER

Kathleen Schropfer, surrounded by her family and resting at home, passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2001 after a lengthly courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 75 years. Born and raised in Montreal. She married her late husband George Schropfer and became on of the original "Navy" wives in Halifax, immediately following the second world war. She moved back to Montreal in 1969, and followed her family to Red Deer in 1978. Known for her strength of character, her love of God and family, "Nanny" will be dearly missed. Kathleen was predeceased by a son, Kenneth in 1980. She is survived by 7 children, Karen (York) of Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Keith (Patricia) Schropfer of Red Deer, Kathy (Allan) Dickie of Calgary, Kerry Schropfer of Tamworth, Ontario, Kevin (Leanne) Schropfer of Red Deer, Kimberlee (Darren) Holmwood of Lacombe, and Kelly (Marsha) Schropfer of Red Deer. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, Janet and Judy York, Micheal Schorpfer, Michelle and Andrew Dickie, Nancy and Patrick Schorpfer, Cindy Ducharme, Matthew, Joseph and Daniel Schropfer, Kristopher and Jeffrey Holmwood, and Bobby and Craig Schropfer; 5 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. A celebration of Kathleen's life to be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church with a reception following a graveside service at Red Deer Cemetery on February 23 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen had requested donations be made to the Stain Glass Window fund at St. Luke's Anglican Church 4929 54 ST. Red Deer, AB T4N 2G7

SCOTT

Philip Barrie Scott, age 61, passed away on January 28, 2001 in Ponoka. He was born in Merrit, British Columbia on October 29, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Elsie Tingle; brother, John Scott; and daughter, Roberta Scott. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Following cremation, his ashes will be taken to Merrit, British Columbia. SIEBEN

Mrs. Dorothy Barbara Sieben (nee Heffner) of Lacombe passed away after a long illness at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on February 14, 2001 at the age of 64 years. Dorothy is survived by her husband Herman; her children Dan (Tina), Don, Debbie (Greg) Pisesky, Doug; seven grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. She'll be missed for her love of family and friends. Family and friends are invited to meet for prayers at St. Stephen's Catholic Church Lacombe, on the evening of Sunday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Stephen's Catholic Church on Monday, February 19, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 2:00 p.m., in the Holy Cross Cemetery St. Albert, Alberta. SIMONSEN

Mr. Regnar "Ray" Simonsen of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, January 29, 2001 at the age of 80 years. Ray was born on April 3, 1920 in Denmark and moved to Standard, Alberta in 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Signal Corp, where he served form 1940 to 1946. Ray was employed by AGT from 1949 to 1980. Ray and his family moved to Red Deer in 1949, where he enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting and curling. He served on the Board of Directors at the Legion and was recently honored with a lifetime Legion membership. Ray is survived by his wife, Mickey; his son Jerry (Ruth) Simonsen; his daughter, Anne (Mike) Mooney and Brenda (Scott) Hucal; his extended family, Jim (Lois) Cramer and John (Lynn) Cramer; his grandchildren Simon, Kris, Jan, Robyn, Kate, Tomas, Perry, Duncan, Haley, Brandon, Dawson, Curtis and great grandson Reigner Simonsen. Predeceased and there to meet Ray are his first wife of thirty-five years, Marg and his grandson Robson Hucal. Memorial Services will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, on Friday, February 2, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Don Lewis officiating. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Legion Bursary Branch #35, Royal Canadian Legion, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer, T4R 1M9. SINCLAIR

Dorothy Kate Sinclair, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother departed this life suddenly on February 5, 2001. Dorothy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 7, 1917. The youngest child of Jack and Rose Deakin, she was predeceased by her mother, Rose, her father, Jack, a sister in infancy, brothers Arthur, Edward and Jack and sister Phyllis. Dorothy was also predeceased by her beloved husband George, in 1987 and a great grandson, Kevin. She is survived by seven children, Patricia Louise (Douglas) Thomson, Carol Lynn (John) Potiuk, George Edward (Karen) Sinclair, Dorothy Joy (Victor) Nykiforuk, Judy Dea (Kent) Dorland, Timothy Michael (Sherry) Sinclair and Tamera Rose Sinclair. She was the loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Dorothy also leaves to mourn her passing her dear friend, Michael Feduschuk. She was kind, loving and gentle. She was an inspiration to all of us. Words could never begin to express how sad we feel to have to tell others of her passing. We will forever miss her and look forward to seeing her again. Mr. Irvin Steeg of Red Deer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Valley Park Manor, Red Deer, on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Irvin was born on March 30, 1921 at Carmel, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing and was fond of his family. He is survived by his son, Kim (Paula) Steeg of Mission, B.C.; his six daughters, Carol (Brian) Stewart of Maidstone, Sask., Bev (Allan) Ward of Red Deer, Pat (Cam) Scott of White Rock, B.C., and Deb (Doug) Der, Kelly (Ron) Stein, and Paula (Doug) Ward all of Red Deer; fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five brothers; seven sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irvin was predeceased by his wife, Agatha in 1997; and an infant daughter, Dawn Marie in 1958. Funeral Mass for Irvin will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508-48th Avenue, Red Deer, on Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Donald Stein Celebrant. Irvin's ashes will join his wife Agatha and daughter, Dawn Marie, in the Humboldt Cemetery. TAYLOR

Jennie Victoria Taylor passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in the Red Deer Nursing Home at the age of 94. Jennie was born October 26, 1906 in Sombra Twp., Lambton Co., Ontario to Chester Armstrong Babcock and Mabel Martha (Fox) Babcock. Predeceased by her husband Alex; daughter Martha and a son James; 3 sisters Dorothy, Madeline and Martha; 3 brothers Ernest, Howard and Thomas. She is survived by her son Alex (Joan) Taylor; 3 sisters-Mildred Chugg, Florence Taylor, Nellie Fleming and sister-in-law Laura Babcock; daughter-in-law Jane and her husband Ron Parker; Son-in-Law Ralph Magee and his wife Geneva; 6 grandsons-Terry (Elaine) Magee, Randy Taylor, Garth Taylor, Greg Taylor, James (Terra) Taylor and Alex Taylor IV; 4 granddaughters-Eleanor Dzus, Charlene (Duane) Bouck, Lorinda (Travis) Waldo and Alexandra Taylor; 15 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service for the late Jennie Taylor will be held at the Northside Church of God, 5911-63 Street, Red Deer, Saturday February 24 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Red Deer Nursing Home.

THOMSON

Mr. Gerald George MacDonald Thomson of Red Deer passed away peacefully with his wife, Marion at his side, on Tuesday, February 13, 2001. Gerry was born on March 28, 1920 at Red Lodge, Alberta. He moved to Red Deer with his parents and sister, to attend school. He then went to technical school in Calgary and received his mechanics license. Following that he was in the Armed Forces and served for six years. At the close of World War II, Gerry was in the demolition squad. In 1943, Gerry was united in marriage to Marion Keast. They made Red Deer their home after war ended and Gerry was employed as an auto mechanic for many years. For a time he bought a truck and hauled grain and flour for local farmers. Gerry returned to auto mechanics and worked until Parkinson's disease forced his early retirement. Gerry was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, and loved hunting, fishing, camping, photography and painting. He was also an expert on birds, and animals and their habitat in Alberta. As well, Gerry was a great horseman and headed the Light Horse Association for several years. He treasured his Scottish ancestry, and enjoyed playing the bagpipes and always looked forward to participating in many parades throughout Central Alberta. Gerry was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. His kind, gentle, and generous, loving nature will be sadly missed by many people. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion of nearly fifty-eight years, who was a constant loving companion and his support; also survived by his sister, Marjorie (Ed Kent) of B.C.; two sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews and their families. Gerry was predeceased by his father, Evan and his mother, Sarah, both in 1977. A private celebration of Gerry's life was held at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on February 20, 2001 with Pastor Richard Duffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Deer Cemetery. If desired, tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
