Mrs. Loletta May (Leta) Webb passed away in the Alexander Wing of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Leta was born in Lacombe, Alberta and was a resident there for many years. She had lived in Vernon since 1980 and was an active member of the Shamrock Square Dance Club at Killiney Beach. She will be lovingly remembered by a nephew David Webb of Ponoka; a niece and her husband Sheila and George Wilkie of Bashaw; a God-daughter and her husband Lynette and Tom Cameron and their son Caleb of Red Deer; as well as various extended family members and many friends. Leta was predeceased by her husband E. James (Jim) Webb on March 14, 1994. Funeral Services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. on Friday, March 2, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe. WEISENBURGER
Norma Jean Weisenburger wife of Gordon Weisenburger, passed away quietly at her home in Red Deer, AB on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 after a battle with cancer at the age of 57 years. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon Weisenburger of Red Deer, mother Margaret Cameron of Red Deer, three brothers; Dale (Sue) Cameron of Trochu, Neil (Cindy) Cameron of Huxley and Bruce (Sharon) Cameron of Elnora. Brothers-in-law Ray (Shirley) Weisenburger of Spruce Grove and Norm Weisenburger of Cleardale and sister-in-law Linda Weisenburger of Papua, New Guinea. Norma Jean began her education at Lakeview School not far from the family farm. After graduating from High School in Delburne, she entered the University of Alberta Nursing School. After receiving her R.N., she worked in hospitals for a year. She then returned to the University of Alberta to complete a Diploma in Public Health and began her career in Community Health. This was a field she loved and found great satisfaction in working with families. She worked in Red Deer, Edson, Lac La Biche and Stettler. Upon moving to Stettler, she held various leadership roles in Community Health. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Red Deer. Norma Jean loved to travel and loved the outdoors and no year was complete without several trips to the mountains to hike and ski. Norma Jean's family would like to thank the staff of the Red Deer Regional Hospital and Red Deer Home Care for their caring support and excellent care they have provided. WESTGARD
Kenneth Leroy Westgard passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his loving family, wife Mary of 60 years; ten children, Darlene of Calgary, Ann (Ron) of Penhold, Joyce of Ponoka, Barb of Calgary, Jim (Georgine) of Sibbald, Trudy (Ed) of Okotoks, Murray (Sandy) of Penhold, Dennis of Red Deer, Cheryl (Keith) of Calgary and Robin of Red Deer; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn, Lillian and Violet. Kenneth was predeceased by his son, Bill in 1999 and son-in-law, Jack in 1987. Kenneth was born at Rugby, North Dakota and moved with his family to White Bear, Saskatchewan when he was 3 years old. In 1940 he married Mary Ryland. In 1966 the family moved to the Red Deer area. Mr. Percy Williams of Rocky Mountain House passed away on January 29, 2001 at the age of 60 years. Mrs. Lily Evangeline Winslow of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on February 2nd, 2001 at the age of 96 years. Predeceased by her husband Ray Winslow in 1983; son Jim Winslow in 1993, she is survived by her daughter Beth Dunlop of Lacombe; son Dr. Walter Winslow of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter-in-law Rose Winslow of Lacombe; brother Stanley Palmer of Abbotsford, B.C.; sister Elsie Heath of Lennoxville, Quebec; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. WOOD
Louise Wood of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Monday, February 19, 2001 at the age of 82 years. Louise was born at Morse, Saskatchewan and grew up at Hodgeville, Saskatchewan. She was a veteran of the RCAF and served during WWII. She did domestic work after the war until her retirement and will be remembered as a kind and generous person who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Louise is survived by her sister Mary (Robert) Kraus of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, nieces Carol (Robert) Trembley and their children Jana, Erin and Mark of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Maxine (Allan) MacLeod and their son Michael of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Brenda (Randy) Lear and their daughters Janelle and Michelle all of Regina, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her sister Nellie "Helen" (Henry) Storbakken and here brother William Wood. To honour Louise's request, a graveside service will take place at a later date in Saskatchewan. Pamela Kay (Meharry) Zado of Lacombe passed away tragically in an automobile accident on February 14, 2001 at the age of 44 years. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband John and daughters Mayegan and Marlayna, all of Lacombe; as well as her parents, Melvin and Colleen Meharry of Red Deer; two brothers, Steve and Mike; three sisters, Jackie, Trisha and Debbie; and by all the members of her large and loving family. A celebration of Pam's life was held on February 19, 2001 at the Red Deer Seventh Day Adventist Church. Elsie Ziegler of Trochu, Alberta, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 12, 2001, at the age of 74 years. She was predeceased by her husband Emil in 1991 and sister Hilda Lippert. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Gladys (Jim) Goodey of Sylvan Lake, AB; son Larry (Carol) Ziegler of Ashmont, AB; and their children Jolene, Jessica and Leo; five sisters, Helen (Ted) Lippert, Adeline (Dave) Guynup both of Delburne, AB; Mary McNeil of Maple Ridge, B.C.; Violet (Bill) Coutts of Spruce View, AB; Lily Burnett of Leduc, AB; two brothers, Henry Bischke of Merrit, B.C.; and Alfred Bischke of Red Deer, AB.
