Polly Hydomako of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Thursday, March 22, 2001 at the age of 89 years. Polly was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1927 marrying Alex Hydomako in 1928. Alex and Polly farmed in the Biggar, Saskatchewan area for 35 years where they raised their family. Polly loved country living. In 1966 they moved to Red Deer where she still had her big garden and flowers until she moved to Barrett Place in 1991. She spent hours and hours doing cross-stitching and puzzles. Polly was predeceased by her husband Alex in 1981, son Ed in 1992, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Polly's passing will be sadly missed by two sons John (Mary) and Leonard (Dolly) and three daughters Lily (Wilf) Wilkie, Helen (Rod) Wensley and Esther (Gary) Nason; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Donald George, beloved husband of Iris, passed away surrounded by his family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 12, 2001 following a lengthy illness. Donnie was born on April 22, 1932 in Red Deer. He received his education at Antler Hill and Red Deer Composite. Almost 50 years ago, on October 17, 1951 he married Iris Wells. They were not only husband and wife, but were also very best friends. During this time, they raised two loving daughters. For a few years Donnie owned and operated his own construction trucks. This changed, however, as steam engineering was his desire. He studied and acquired his steam engineering certificate and worked 25 years at the Central Alberta Dairy Pool. Besides his loving wife, Donnie is survived by his two daughters: Donna Baker and her husband Ron Polutnik and Bonnie Hemstreet and her husband Brent, three grandsons; Chris Baker, Darryl Hemstreet and Brian Hemstreet, all of Red Deer. He is also survived by his mother, Hazel Inglis of Innisfail, his brother Dennis (Shirley) Inglis of Leduc, his sister Barbara (Jim) Giesbrecht, his aunt Mabel Wright, a special brother-in-law (whom Donnie called his right hand man) Punch (Laurie) Wells, all of Red Deer, two sisters-in-law; Isabell (Lloyd) Adams, and Norma (Jerry) Gosling. Donnie will also be lovingly remembered by his special friends; Earl and Marie Purcell, Art and Marge McAllister, Bob and Edna Schaefer and Bill and Maureen Stevenett, all of Innisfail, Earl and Peggy Scott of Port Coquitlam, B.C., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Walter W. Inglis in 1963. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Alberta Multiple Sclerosis Chapter, 4827-49 Street, Red Deer, AB. T4N 1T8 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, AG. T4N 1X2. Mr. Theodor 'Ted' Marie Insinger (Boes to family and friends) of Sylvan Lake, formerly of Calgary, born in DeBilt, Holland on April 5, 1924, passed away on April 2, 2001 at the age of 76 years, with his loving wife of 56 years, Dorreen at his side. Ted was predeceased by his youngest son, Thomas Richard in 1974; his mother, The Baroness Van Hermet Tot Dingsof Insinger in 1978; and his father, Captain Theodore Marie Insinger of the Calgary High Landers at Dieppe in 1940. Ted worked at Calgary Motor Products in Calgary until retiring to his favorite place and new home at Sylvan Lake. Noted in his younger years as a pioneer and avid stock car racer, his love of car racing remained as a favorite sport. Ted was previously a member of the Masonic Temple, Eastern Star (Edith Cavel Chapter- Past Patron) and in recent years, active in the Legion and Friendship Centre where he called bingo for both. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. His love of golf and sailing with his grandchildren were favorite past times. To all who knew him, Ted was a devoted friend who was always available when needed. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Dorreen; son, Ted and Barbara Insinger; daughters, Lynne and Gary LaMarsh, Susan and Shawn Reeve; grandchildren, Grant, Glen and Debby LaMarsh, Gregory and David Insinger. The Funeral Service for the late Mr. Theodor 'Ted' Insinger will be held from the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home, 5019-47A Avenue, Sylvan Lake on Friday, April 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bob Wilson officiating. Edgar Kirschenman 'steady Eddie' of Red Deer passed away on March 13, 2001 at Red Deer Hospital at the age of 59. He was born on February 24, 1942 in Leniger, Saskatchewan. He grew up in Duchess, AB and eventually moved to Medicine Hat, where he met Gladys and married September 10, 1960. Ed worked in Medicine Hat at the foundry, tried his hand at farming and eventually found his place in the 'oil patch'. In 1975 he started his own company 'Steady Eddie's Oilfield Service' and became a well known figure in the oilpatch community. Ed enjoyed fishing, playing cards and playing with his four legged friend, Yoshi. He leaves to sadly mourn his passing, his loving wife Gladys, his daughter BrendaLee and her husband Norman Wiebe; his sisters Elsie Dieno (Gerry), Matilda Weiss (Herbert), Violet Splitt (Fred), and Pauline Adams (Cliff); his brothers, Herbert (Marion), Edwin (Shirley), Alvin (Elaine), Harold (Sandra) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin daughters, his son Bruce, his parents, two sisters and a brother-in-law. Cremation. Karen Joan Lawrence passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at the age of 38 after a determined battle with cancer. Karen is survived by her loving husband, Cyril Penney and her beautiful eight year old daughter, Kayla; her parents, John and Jean Lawrence; her sisters, Elaine (Jim) Rolston and Lynn (John) Haines; her brothers, Bob (Vera) and Gerald (Sue). She was predeceased by her sister, Carol in 1951. Auntie Karen will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Karen will also be missed by her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Karen spent her life in the Red Deer area. She devoted her life to her family and was a wonderful wife and mother. Karen was a very special person with a warm smile and contagious laugh that will be missed by everyone at family gatherings. Karen you will always be with us in our hearts.
