ANDRUCHOW, Alicia Ann
1992-2001

Alicia was taken to be with her Lord suddenly on July 26. 2001 in Red Deer, AB at the age of 8 years 11 months. Alicia attended St. Teresa of Avila, she enjoyed swimming, crafts, fishing, dancing, singing, drawing and playing with her sister and friends. She was a very spiritual child. Her loving, outgoing, bubbly personality attracted many friends. She was well loved by everyone she touched. Although we may not understand why God took you so suddenly away from us, we know in our hearts that you are well loved, happy and dancing with the angels in heaven. May God love you and keep you safe in the house of the Lord until we meet again. Alicia will be dearly missed by her parents Sharon and Dwayne Andruchow and her sister April. Her grandparents Donna and Adolph Andruchow, Bernice and Bill Urwin, Carmine Urwin. Her aunts and uncles Lisa and Blaine Barteski, Tammy Andruchow and Clint McClean, Laurie Urwin and Bruce Grant, William and Stacey Urwin, Craig Urwin and Lisa Allinson, Mark Urwin and Tracy Fowell, Karen and Greg Bergsten. Her cousins Sarah, Blake, Kyle, Candice, Shantell, Danielle, Bradley, Colin and Jillian. She will be sadly missed by other family and friends. Prayer services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48 Ave, Red Deer, AB on Tuesday July 31, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday August 1, 2001 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, AB. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Catholic Social Services.

BUDD

Mr. Dell D. Budd passed away into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre, Red Deer. Dell was born on the family farm near Rimbey, Alberta on December 18, 1927. As a young man he attended Olds College. On April 14, 1948, Dell married Mary White and to this union four daughters were born. The family farmed in the Iola area until 1953 when they moved to Red Deer. Dell studied to become a psychiatric nurse and later worked at Michener Centre as a charge nurse and in administration until his retirement in 1982. Dell's hobbies included traveling, leather tooling, gardening, flying remote-control aircraft, and enjoyed being a true handyman. Dell loved camping, hiking and fishing in the "west country", enjoying the majesty of God's handiwork. He also enjoyed family gatherings and took special delight in attending the many Budd family reunions. Left to mourn Dell's passing are Mary, his loving wife and companion of fifty-three years; his three daughters, Mardel (Delbert) Steeves of Meeting Creek, Evelyn Evans of Red Deer, and Denene (Wes) Schawalder of Red Deer; his nine grandchildren, Brent (Andrea), Michael (Julie), and Bradley Steeves, Nolan and Adam Lamb, Alissa and John Evans, and Trenton and Tara Schawalder, and one great grandchild, Cale Steeves. Also left to mourn are his sister, Bernice (Jim) Morrison, and brothers, George (Joan) Budd and Pastor Ernie (Priscilla) Budd. Dell was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Ruby Budd, a daughter Edie Lamb, son-in-law John Evans, sister-in-law Jean Budd and a brother Orville Budd. A celebration of Dell Budd's life will be held at Oriole Park Evangelical Missionary Church, 98 Oberlin Avenue, Red Deer, on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Grant Sikstrom officiating. Private interment was held at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Rimbey. The family would like to thank Dr. Thiessen and the staff at Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre for their kindness and excellent care during Dell's long and valiant eight year struggle with Alzheimers. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Red Deer, Box 1134, Red Deer, T4N 6S6. BURKIN

Dennis George Burkin, longtime resident of Fox Creek, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2001 at the age of 54 years. Dennis was born in Hendon, England on September 14, 1946. Dennis is survived by; his loving wife Linda; son Denis Burkin and his family; daughter Deborah and her family; daughter Holly and her family; parents William and Beryl Burkin of Red Deer; mother-in-law Anne Giebelhaus of Red Deer; brothers and sisters; Bill, Bob, Alan, Ray, Brenda and Kathy and their families; brothers-in-law Don and Allan and their families, as well as numerous friends. Funeral service will be held in Fox Creek, Alberta on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the Community Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the M.S. It is with our deepest sorrow to announce the passing of my only son-in-law, Dennis Burkin of Fox Creek at the age of 54. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He touched our hearts in so many ways. We love you Dennis. Until we meet again Love Anne Giebelhaus & Family.

ELLINGSON

Kate Ellingson, beloved daughter of Richard and Annette Ellingson passed away suddenly July 28, 2001 in Calgary from complications of diabetes which she bravely battled for many years. Kate was born in Lethbridge, June 29, 1979. Kate and her family moved to Innisfail from Vulcan, Alberta in 1981. She lived here with her family, attending school at John Wilson Elementary and graduating from Innisfail High School. During those school years, her love for drama earned her roles in "Oliver", "Annie", "Grease" and the highlight was singing and participating in the Red Deer College production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat". Three years ago she left for Calgary to continue taking signing classes for the deaf so she could later teach and work with the deaf. She attended night classes and worked at Canadian Tire. Her cheery and bubbly personality made her many friends. Her smile and good humour were contagious. She held no grudges. Kate was kind to all. She delighted in doing small simple things to make the lives of her family and friends happy. She inspired us all with her honesty, forthrightness, positive attitude and determination. While in Calgary she met her special friend Jason Korec. He introduced her to new and exciting adventures. Together they rollerbladed and bicycled the streets of Calgary, fished and camped. He was a bright light in her life. She knew the Lord and the Lord knew her. She loved the Lord and the Lord loved her. He called her home because her mission was completed here on earth and we are thankful that we did have twenty two years of loving and sharing with Kate. She is survived by her mother and father Richard and Annette Ellingson; her siblings Benjamin Ellingson, Kirsten (Clayton) Hironaka, Lena (Neal) Thompson, Erik Ellingson, Jenny Ellingson, Mark Ellingson and Susan Ellingson. Also Hillary Hironaka, Jorgen Thompson and Berg Thompson will miss their Aunt. Grandparents are Jorgen and Inger Maegaard of Lethbridge and Nellie Ellingson of Taber. Her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins will also miss her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM at the Innisfail Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Thursday August 2, 2001. HERBA

Mr. Stanley Herba, beloved husband of the late Joyce VanderWeg, of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the age of 78 years. Stan was proud of his thirty-four year career with the PFRA and Alberta Water Works and retired as Super-intendent of the Bow River Irrigation District, in 1986. He is survived by his children, Patrick (Margaret) Herba of Comox, B.C., Theresa (Clint) Saunders of Red Deer, Michael (Marina) Herba of Lethbridge, Tony Herba of Prince George, B.C. and Michele Herba of Lacombe; his seven grandchildren, Kyle, Alex, Corinne, Maureen, Jill, Jeremy and Bryce; his companion, Viola Parke; and also by his sisters, Nellie Wronski of Abbotsford and Rose Johnson of Lethbridge. Stanley was predeceased by his brothers, Walter, Henry and Adolf. Relatives and friends are invited to come and share their memories with the family at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Thursday morning, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Jan Sobkowicz officiating. SPRECHER

Alfred Walter Sprecher passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2001 after a long illness at the age of 79 years. Al was born in Hatton, Saskatchewan and came to the Rimbey area with his family as a child, where he completed his education. As a young man he served in the Army for 4 years, spending time in England, Holland, Belgium, and Germany, and participating in the Normandy Invasion on D+1 Day. He met and married Lillian Resta in 1946. In their 55 years together they raised four children while working and traveling the world. He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife, Lillian; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Mavis Sprecher of Grande Cache; grandchildren Gary and Christine Robinson of Innisfail, and Delaine Robinson of Edmonton; his daughter Connie MacDonald and Wayne Wiseman of Red Deer; grandchildren Lauren Maris and Andrew Maris of Calgary; David and Rachael Maris and Tyson of Lacombe; his daughter and son-in law Marilyn and Ron Berg and his granddaughters, Cora and Sara, all of Calgary; his daughter Linda Jones and his grandson Ryan of Red Deer. Alfred is also survived by his sisters, Alice and Carol, and his brothers, Don and Bill. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Sophie Sprecher and his brother Herb. Family and friends admired his strength, determination, and wonderful sense of humor. The Family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of Unit 22, Red Deer Regional Hospital, and especially Shelley Davies, Alfred's niece, for their wonderful care. We greatly appreciate your contributions to making Dad's last days as comfortable as possible. Finally, Dad...Thank you for your legacy to us. ALLAN

Gladys M. (Frostad) Allan, 80 of Sylvan Lake, passed away July 26, 2001 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a period of illness. Born at Kincaid, SK., on August 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sigrid (Gunderson) Frostad, and the wife of the late William (Bill) D. Allan. Gladys began school at six years of age having spoken only Norwegian language. She attended high school and Bible School at Outlook, SK., Class of 1942, and graduated from the St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing in Saskatoon, Class of 1946, as a Registered Nurse. It was while in training at Saskatoon that she met Bill who was a patient. They soon discovered their mutual Christian interest and love, and married on November 9, 1946. They lived on the Allan Homestead at Mantario, SK. until they moved in 1950 to Bentley, AB. to farm and raise their family. Gladys was very active in the business as bookkeeper while she and Bill raised their five children. In later years they did much travelling in association with the hog business. Gladys was an avid sports fan. She was faithful in getting her boys to the rink for hockey games and also rooted her grandchildren on in their hockey careers. She and Bill also travelled many miles together in church work. Gladys's desire was to minister the life and love of Jesus Christ to others. In her father's autobiography she wrote, "The spiritual side of my life was shaped from the time I was born, My parents were devoted Christians as far back as I can remember. God's Word was read and we were taught to pray." She is survived by her son, Donald (Helen), son David (Judy), her daughter Margaret (Tom) Kingma, son Robert (Gail), son Brian (Laurel); 15 grandchildren, Lori Mearns of Sylvan Lake, AB., Bonnie Kuyvenhoven of Sidney, B.C., Mary Allan and Michael Allan of Victoria, B.C., Chad Allan and Kari Kloss of Bentley, AB., John Kingma of St. Catherines, ON., Will Kingma and Thomas Kingma of Westlock, AB., Kristi Allan and Brett Allan of Bentley, AB., Brittany, Rebecca, Benjamin and Jonathan Allan of Withrow, AB.; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Boyd, Paul and Joseph; two sisters, Esther and Helen and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, two grandchildren, Kelsey and Kim, her brother Harold and sister Alida. Funeral Services will be held from the Bentley Christian Centre on Monday, July 30, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bentley Cemetery.
