Mr. Sandy Basaraba of Rocky Mountain House passed away suddenly at Foothills Hospital, Calgary on Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the age of 63 years. Sandy is survived by his loving wife, Helen; his sons, Steven and Kevin; a daughter, Leslie; and his grandchildren. BOGGESS, DESSA GRACE
Mrs. Dessa Grace Boggess of Sherwood Park, AB., formerly of Stettler, AB. passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the age of 96 years. She leaves to mourn, one sister Cora (Stanton) Pooley of Stettler, AB; four daughters, Avis Steiger of Camrose, AB., Shirley (Dale) Jestin of Red Deer, AB., Cora (Ben) Veldkamp of Denver, Colorado and Fern (Ken) Larson of Ardrossen, AB. As well as eighteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; one niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dessa was predeceased by her parents, her husband Edgar Forrest "Frosty" Boggess in April of 1987, daughter Ruby Dennis in May of 1997 and grandson Lonnie Jestin in November of 1957. The funeral services will be held at the Stettler Baptist Church, Stettler, AB. on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Patrick Schoenberger officiating. The internment will follow at the Erskine Cemetery with a reception and fellowship to take place at the Erskine I.O.O.F. Hall with the Erskine UCW serving. Mr. Ronald William Brier, beloved husband of Irene, of Eckville passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Monday, July 16, 2001 at the age of 69 years. As well as his loving wife Irene, Ronald is survived by his children, Kim (John) Dupont of Calgary, Wendy (Mike Dixon) Hager of Calgary, Gordon (Betty) Delbridge in Ontario, Cindy (Bruce) Morison of Bentley, Donna (Don) Sieben of Red Deer, Debby (Don) Racz of Calgary and Monty (Maureen) Delbridge; his fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. BUDD
Mr. Dell D. Budd passed away into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre, Red Deer. Dell was born on the family farm near Rimbey, Alberta on December 18, 1927. As a young man he attended Olds College. On April 14, 1948, Dell married Mary White and to this union four daughters were born. The family farmed in the Iola area until 1953 when they moved to Red Deer. Dell studied to become a psychiatric nurse and later worked at Michener Centre as a charge nurse and in administration until his retirement in 1982. Dell's hobbies included traveling, leather tooling, gardening, flying remote-control aircraft, and enjoyed being a true handyman. Dell loved camping, hiking and fishing in the "west country", enjoying the majesty of God's handiwork. He also enjoyed family gatherings and took special delight in attending the many Budd family reunions. Left to mourn Dell's passing are Mary, his loving wife and companion of fifty-three years; his three daughters, Mardel (Delbert) Steeves of Meeting Creek, Evelyn Evans of Red Deer, and Denene (Wes) Schawalder of Red Deer; his nine grandchildren, Brent (Andrea), Michael (Julie), and Bradley Steeves, Nolan and Adam Lamb, Alissa and John Evans, and Trenton and Tara Schawalder, and one great grandchild, Cale Steeves. Also left to mourn are his sister, Bernice (Jim) Morrison, and brothers, George (Joan) Budd and Pastor Ernie (Priscilla) Budd. Dell was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Ruby Budd, a daughter Edie Lamb, son-in-law John Evans, sister-in-law Jean Budd and a brother Orville Budd. A celebration of Dell Budd's life will be held at Oriole Park Evangelical Missionary Church, 98 Oberlin Avenue, Red Deer, on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. Private interment was held at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Rimbey. The family would like to thank Dr. Thiessen and the staff at Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre for their kindness and excellent care during Dell's long and valiant eight year struggle with Alzheimers. BUNCE
Lorraine Joyce Bunce (Waisman) of Innisfail, former long-time resident of Wimborne, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of July 12, 2001. As a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed. She leaves to mourn her loving children, Sandra (Emil) Gill; Brian; Neil (Beth); Brenda (Cam) Enzie; Roger (Chrystal); companion Al Doty; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Ted in 1993; her parents and 5 brothers. She was born July 17, 1929 in Blue Ridge, Alberta, the youngest child and only daughter of Arthur and Eleanore Waisman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mountain View Funeral Chapels, Olds with Pastor Richard Pahl officiating. BUTLER
Mr. Rodney Allan Butler passed away suddenly at his farm home near Delburne on July 19, 2001 at the age of 59 years. Rod was born on November 12, 1941 in Camrose, Alberta. He grew up on the family farm west of New Norway and received his schooling in New Norway. Rod received his pilot's license at the age of 16 and enjoyed many hours of flying with his dad. He attended the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. Rod started teaching in Eckville in 1964 where he met his wife, Colleen (Carter). They were married in 1967 and relocated to Alix where he was employed as Vice Principal and later became Principal, serving in that school for 25 years. He moved to the Central Office in Lacombe in 1992 in an administrative position before retiring in 1996. In 1973, they moved to farm in the Delburne district where he built a cattle herd that brought him great pride and pleasure. After retiring, Rod enjoyed being able to devote more time for family, farming, the Delburne United Church and many other community organizations. He will always be remembered for his devotion to family, sense of humor and his infectious and distinctive laugh. His gift of being able to touch others with his caring and heartfelt words will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife Colleen; two children, Stephen (Jill) Butler and Kathy (Kevin) Guard, all of Delburne; his very special grandchildren, Kennedy, Kaden and Katana; his mother, Hazel Butler; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Victor Butler in 1980. Funeral Services will be held at the Delburne Community Hall on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at 2:00 pm. CAPEL
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Ray Capel announce his passing on Friday, July 6, 2001 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 86 years. Ray was born on November 30, 1914 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. He was an avid gardener and took pride in keeping his home and yard nice. He worked as a pressman at the Swift Current Sun for many years, was later employed at the Red Deer Advocate and worked at the Waskasoo Press until his retirement. Ray was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #35, in Red Deer. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of 62 years; his devoted family, Priscilla (Kim) Spencely of Kitchener, Ontario, Douglas Edward Capel of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Michelle (Don) Finley of Carstairs, Alberta and Kathy Capel of Calgary, Alberta; and several grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Russell, Marshall and Rodney and two sisters, Joy and Frankie and their families. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Frank and Edna Capel, a brother, Max, and a sister-in-law, Ellen.
