MORAN

Mr. Eugene Moran, beloved husband of Carrie, of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, July 13, 2001 at the age of 80 years. Eugene was born on November 28, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Detroit Southwestern High School. Eugene served in the United States Army and was a Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge in 1942. He then studied Sociology and graduated from West Virginia State College, with a Bachelor's in Sociology. Eugene married Carrie Lee Dixon and the couple moved to Detroit, in 1946. Eugene was then employed at Wayne County Training School for emotionally handicapped, as well as teaching classes at the Wayne State University. The family then moved to Ontario where Eugene worked as Director of Programs for Cedar Springs Provincial Hospital, Cedar Springs, Ontario and Prince Edward Heights, Picton, Ontario. In 1978 the family made Red Deer home and Eugene worked at Michener Centre until his retirement in 1981. His hobbies include playing a good game of bridge, darts, golfing, classical music, and also enjoyed history, poetry, literature as well as computers. Eugene's greatest joy came from spending time with his dog, Guy who had become his very special friend. As well as his loving wife, Carrie, Eugene is survived by his two daughters, Karen and her husband James Pluger of McBain, Michigan and Julie and her husband Roy Tucker of Tallahassee, Florida; and his five grandchildren, Ian Pluger, Michael Tucker, Syretta Tucker, Jasmine Pluger and Steven Tucker. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Hobert and Cordelia Moran. Relatives and friends are invited to come and share their memories with the family at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Wednesday evening, between the hours of 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Eugene's life will be held at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Nieuwenhuis officiating. If desired, tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Red Deer Unit, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1X2 or to the Alberta Lung Association, 2 4342 50 Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4N 3Z6. MORRISON

Mrs. Annie Ethel Morrison of Ponoka, AB passed away peacefully at the Northcott Care Centre, Ponoka, AB on July 12, 2001 at the age of 82 years. Annie was born Annie Ethel Matthewson April 10, 1919 in Kitscoty, AB. She took her schooling in Red Deer. Annie moved to Calgary, AB where she worked in the laundry industry for many years. She moved back to Tees in 1973 and was employed as a housekeeper by James A. Morris where she remained until his death in 1985. She then moved to Lacombe, AB where she met Johnney Morrison. Johnney and Annie were married on May 29, 1987. Annie had a warm, generous personality. She loved to make those around her happy. Predeceased by her husband Johnney, one sister Martha Stoutenberge, her mother Martha Matthewson, her father Dave Matthewson and five brothers David, Bill, Bob, James and John. She is survived by two sisters Elizabeth (Claude) Hague of Castlegar, AB and Jean Matthewson of Lacombe, AB, one brother Sandy (Ann) Matthewson of Penticton, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews as well as all those who knew her as "Aunty Ann". Funeral Services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel Lacombe on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Tees Cemetery. NEIS

Mr. Garry Allan Neis, passed away suddenly at Calgary on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at the age of 55 years. Garry was born on June 19, 1946 at Lacombe, to Carl and Hazel Neis, of Delburne. Garry grew up in Delburne and graduated from Delburne High School in 1964. He then joined his brother Jim at Western Geophysical, and spent many years overseas with the company. During this time, Garry married the late Wendy Dunstall in August 1972. In 1992, Western Geophysical ceased operations in Canada and Garry decided it was time to retire and took up permanent residence in Calgary. For several years Garry was a volunteer member of the Victim Assistance Unit, Calgary Police Services. He found great pleasure in being able to provide assistance to others, and enjoyed working with his friends of the unit. He is survived by his daughter, Paula (George) Pratt of Edmonton; his two grand daughters, Courtney and Alissa Pratt; his three brothers, Phillip (Mary Anne) of Ft. Saskatchewan, James (Lilly) of Didsbury, and Larry (Darlene) of Sylvan Lake; his sister, Darlene (Ray) McRae of Penticton, British Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews. Garry was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Hazel Neis and his sister, Hester. A celebration of Garry Neis' life will be held at the Delburne Community Hall, Delburne, on Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with Constable Guy Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Delburne Cemetery. If desired, tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta and N.W.T., #101, 5208-53rd Avenue, Red Deer, T4N 5K2, or to the charity of choice. PARKINSON

Evelyn May (nee Grant) born September 4, 1917 in Delia, Alberta, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2001 at the age of 84 years at Kinsmen Retirement Centre in Tsawwassen where she had made her home for the last few years. As a registered nurse Evelyn spent her life caring for others. Family and friends admired her strength, determination and sense of humour. Predeceased by her loving husband Frances (Parkie) in 1985. Survived and loved by her family in Tsawwassen; sister Marjorie Rideout; nieces Sandra (Ken) Taylor, Cheryl (Rob) Roth; grandnephew Douglas (Jacquie) Taylor (Ladner); grandniece Terry Taylor Ritschard (Switzerland); grandniece Lisa (Brian) Hill (Richmond); grandnieces Alana and Melissa Roth (Tsawwassen); great grandniece Carlie Taylor and great grandnephew Lee Taylor (Ladner). Her sisters-in-law Jean May of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Winifred Parkinson of Lethbridge, Alberta, Betty Parkinson of Edmonton, Alberta and their families. Roy A. North of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the age of 73 years. Roy leaves to mourn his loving wife and companion of 45 years, Laura B. North; Roy is survived by his mother, Rita North of Powell River, B.C.; his brother, Robert (Denise) North of Richmond, British Columbia; his two sisters, Yvonne (Frank) McCloskey of Powell River and Beverly (Con) Macht of Richmond, B.C.; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Lowry of Barrie, Ontario; his two aunts, Cleta (Doug) Murray of Camrose and Bea Hughes of Kelowna, B.C.; special nephew, Brian (Cathy) McCloskey of Calgary; special niece, Marie (Rob) Brown of Morningside, numerous other nieces and nephews; and special "pal" Adolf (Tena) OpdenDries of Red Deer. Roy was predeceased by his father, Floyd North of Powell River in 1975. Roy was formerly employed as an instructor of Political Science at Red Deer College until his retirement in 1989. Funeral Mass for Mr. Roy North will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Street, Red Deer, on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with The Reverend Erik Riechers Celebrant. Brian Palm, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2001 at the age of 40 years. Relatives and friends are invited to join in for an outside service at Coronation Park in Red Deer at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2001.

PARENT

Adelard Parent passed away quietly at the Valley Park Manor on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at the age of 85. His tender soul will be missed by his wife Bertha, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Gentle men of substance pass through this world far too seldom." The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Park Manor for their thoughtful care of our dear father. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary's Church on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
