ROTH

Mr. Lawrence Sidney "Lorne" Roth of Red Deer, passed away following a short stay at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, March 1, 2002. Lorne was born on June 20, 1945 in Red Deer. He grew up on the family farm until he joined the Navy in 1963. In 1964, Lorne started his life long career with Telus (formerly A.G.T.) Also in 1964, he married Jean Elizabeth McDonald, and they had two children, Richard (Tracy) and Tracy (Dion) of Edmonton. Lorne remarried in 1987 to Judy Harreveld and together they raised her three children, Laura-Dawn, Lance and Lenell (Dylan); he will also be sadly missed by his mother, Mrs. Dorothea Roth of Red Deer; his four grandchildren, Justin, Raymond, Tashia and Liam; his three sisters, Marie (Peter) Maracca of Wetaskiwin, Lynn (Keith) Woffindin of Tees, and Judy Young (Jack Darroch) of Sylvan Lake; his five brothers, Frank (Edna) of Pigeon Lake, Phillip, Joseph R. (Jean), Carl (Joan) and Garth (Debbie), all of Red Deer; his good friends, Gary Greggain of Calgary, Norm Gunther of Sherwood Park, and Dennis Tidball and Bill Trathen of Edmonton; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other friends. Lorne was predeceased by his brother Jack, on June 18, 1988; and his father Joseph Peter on June 18, 1992. A celebration of Lorne's life will be held at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Leanne V. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto-Reste Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Hardy and the nurses of Unit 23 and ICU at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their dedicated care. RUZYCKI

In loving memory of Frances (Marcinek) Ruzycki who passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, March 2, 2002 at the age of 86 years. Frances was born at Detroit, Michigan on June 4, 1915. The family had moved from Poland, eventually to Canada residing in Alsask, Saskatchewan. Frances married Alexander Ruzycki on November 15, 1931 and they moved to Humbolt, Saskatchewan where she resided until 1981 and then moved to Calgary and eventually Red Deer. Frances loved to cook and while on holidays visiting family, she would spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. She also loved to crochet. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Katherine Marcinek, her husband Alex, her son Harry and daughter Delores Peddie, her sisters Julia Czerkas and Mary Graham, brothers Joseph and Tony Marcinek. She is dearly loved and survived by her son Alex (Shirley) Ruzycki, grandchildren Anne (Martin) Woodhouse, John (Shirley) Ruzycki, Jim (Jackie) Ruzycki, Leanne MacKenzie, Jodie (Scott) Blasken and her great grandchildren, Diane, Carter, Jackson and Jamison, her sister Helen Franczak, her brothers Stanley (Mary) and John (Esther) Marcinek and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held from the "67th Street Chapel" of the Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150-67th Street, Red Deer, on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverend Father Don Stein. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Calgary. Funeral arrangements in care of the Red Deer Funeral Home & Crematorium (67th Street) Chapel. Telephone 347-3319.

SCHMALE

Mr. Kenneth Earl Schmale of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 2, 2002 at the age of 68 years. Ken was born on February 8, 1934 in Luseland, Saskatchewan and attended school in Maidstone, Saskatchewan. He was married to Arlene in August, 1957. They continued to live in Maidstone until 1969 when they moved to Red Deer. Ken worked at the Chrysler Plant and retired after twenty-six and one half years of employment. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene; a son, Darryl; and three daughters, Pam Nightingale, Lori (Ross) Clauson and Deanna (Randy) Lovig; his loving grandchildren, Blane and Blair Nightingale; Stephanie and Courtney Schmale; Jeff and Ashley Clauson and Jessica and Brandon Lovig. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Albert and Evelyn Schmale; and a brother, Vernon Schmale. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Parkland Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Robert Payne officiating. VERVILLE

Gerry Verville of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Saturday, March 2, 2002 at the age of 79 years. Gerry was born at Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan on May 9, 1922. He is survived by his sisters Alice Dancause of Warburg, Alberta and Yvonne Tupin of Edmonton. Destini Star Cornelssen-Schaber has gone to a better place on Tueday, April 16, 2002 at the age of 151/2 months. HYNES

Paul Onesime Hynes, born July 8, 1948 in Port-au-Port, Newfoundland, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 15, 2002 in Red Deer, Alberta. Paul lived in Victoria, BC from 1975 to 1997 when he moved to Red Deer. He will be dearly missed by many friends from coast to coast. He is survived by his parents, Dorothy and Joseph; son Jesse; sisters, Frances Ann, Carolyn, Vicki, Maureen and Debbie; brothers, Tom, Terry, Mike, Christopher and Sean. He was predeceased by his brother Bobby. A service will be held at Middleton Hall, Luxton Fairgrounds, Victoria, BC on Saturday, April 27, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - till the end? KEOUGHAN

Mr. Clarence Michael (Mike) Keoughan passed away at Olds, Alberta on April 17, 2002 at the age of 47 years. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; one son, Nicholas James; a daughter, Chelsea Morphy-Keoughan; one brother, John; and two sisters, Theresa and Mary. He is also survived by Rosemarie's family, Ross and Verna Tomalty and family, and numerous friends and relatives. Mike was born on March 17, 1955 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He came to Alberta in 1972 and worked on the oil rigs for several years. Later he was employed at Michener Centre for a few years and for 13 years at Travelaire Trailers. Special thanks to the staff at the Olds Nursing Home, Long Term Care Centre for their compassionate care for Mike this past year. Funeral Services will be held at the Balmoral Bible Chapel on Monday, April 22, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Lane officiating. Private Family Graveside Services will be held in the Alto-Reste Cemetery prior to the Funeral Service. MORRELL-WILSON

Jennett (Janet) Catharine Morrell-Wilson was born on a farm South of Chauvin on June 3, 1916, and passed away at Northcott Care Center on April 13, 2002 at the age of 85. At the age of 7, her mother died and an Aunt took in Janet and her brothers and sister. At the age of 16 she moved to Provost and worked for the local Doctor. In 1935 she married George Morrell. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Hayter where George became a grain elevator agent, which started a series of moves throughout Central Alberta. In 1949 they moved to Hobbema, taking over the restaurant where Janet became legendary for her delicious pies, sometimes baking up to 30 a day. In 1957 they sold the cafe and bought the General Store and Post Office, which burnt down in 1959. They rebuilt a larger store and continued in business until George's death in 1968. Janet then moved to the house they started building in Ponoka prior to his death. In Ponoka she worked as a clerk in several businesses. In 1978 Jennett started working at Michener Center where she worked in X-ray and as a nursing assistant. After 2 years of commuting she sold her home and moved to Red Deer where she lived for 18 years. She was involved in Square Dancing, the Red Deer Kitchen Band, Meals on Wheels, and the Golden Circle. During this time she was wed to Doran Wilson. In 1995 she returned to Ponoka and bought a Heritage House where she resided until she was hospitalized in July 2001. From there she moved to Northcott Care Center where she resided until her death. Jennett will be lovingly remembered for her great sense of humor, excellent cooking, and beautiful handiwork and for her love of family. She will greatly be missed by her children Peggy (Stan) Pugh of Ponoka and Bob (Arlene) Morrell of Red Deer. Also by her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kathy (Ellis), Shannon, Garritt, Sheena and Leanne Davies, Brad (Rae), Shayna and Curtis Pugh all of Ponoka, Sherry Lynn Morrell of Burnaby, BC, Tom (Kerri), Hailey, Derrick and Ryan Morrell of Red Deer and Tim (Jody), Brandon and Brandon Morrell of Stony Plain. She is also survived by her brother Bud Swan of Edmonton; sister Myrtle Clifford of Ribstone; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jennett was predeceased by her husbands George Morrell and Doran Wilson; her parents James and Myrtle Swan; and her brother Jeff Swan. A service celebrating Jennett's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 5120-49th Avenue in Ponoka. Memorial tributes can be made to Ponoka FCSS, Ponoka Home Care, Ponoka Hospital and Care Center or Northcott Care Center.
