Elizabeth Desjardins beloved wife of the late Gerry Desjardins passed away at the Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre, Friday, November 1, 2002 at the age of 75 years. Liz leaves to mourn her daughters Sharon (Leonard) Spendiff of Penhold, AB. and Shelley (Shane) Damiani of Bluffton, AB.; five grandchildren Larissa, Ryan, Jennifer, Amanda and Tasia; her sisters Margaret Olhierse, Kay Ludwig, Mary Ludwig and Francis (Bill) Muldovan, her brother Robert (Marion) Makellky and sister-in-law Hilda Makellky and numerous nieces and nephews. Liz is also survived by her special friend Jake Wanner. Liz was predeceased by her Father Peter in 1967, Mother Katherine in 1980, Brother Bernard in 1996 and her Husband Gerry in 1987. The Vigil of Prayer will be held in the Chapel of Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67th Street, on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held in St. Mary's R.C. DICKIE, Merwin
Merwin Francis Dickie of Red Deer beloved husband of Irma Dickie passed away at the Dr. Richard Parsons Care Centre, Friday, November 1, 2002 at the age of 68 years. Besides his loving wife Irma, he is survived by his sons Trevor Dickie of Red Deer and Wayne Dickie of Millet, AB. Also by his sisters Norma (Bud) St. Clair of Calgary and Marguerite (John) Armstrong of Olds, AB., many nieces and nephews as well as many friends, especially Brian and Norah Titus of Joffre, AB. Merwin was predeceased by his brother Jim Dickie in 1975, father Merle in 1990 and mother Susan in 1997. He was in the RCMP for twenty years from 1955-1975 and then the hotel business for eight years 1975-1983. According to Merwin's wishes, there will be no funeral service. DICKINSON CHARLOTTE (MURPHY)
passed away on September 30, 2002 at the age of 87 years. Charlotte was a warm and caring person who touched the hearts of many. We have all been blessed by knowing her. A Service of Remembrance was held at Chilliwack, B.C. on October 5, 2002. Should friends so desire, donation in Charlotte's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
FARRAR
Charles John Pentelow Farrar of Innisfail passed away Friday, November 9, 2002 at the Rosefield Care Centre. Charlie was born August 19, 1912 at home in Antler Hill District, the only child of John and Bessie (Taylor) Farrar, one of the pioneer families. Charlie was involved in farming his whole life, and excellent student by the age of 13, he was already in grade 10. But was brought back home to help on the farm, when his mother passed away. He was a director of many farm organizations, U.F.A., Rural Fire Assoc., Rural Electrification, Goldeye Foundation, Unifarm, Rural Telephone Systems, Cattle Commission and was a valued member of the Antler Hill Community Assoc. Charlie always had a keen interest in politics, local and world wide. He was always willing to help anyone who needed help or advice. He was a real handy man, neighbours were forever coming to him to fix this or that. Charlie retired and moved to the Innisfail Country Lodge in 1990 at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy in 1983. Survived by a step-son; Howard Carter, his step-granddaughter; Lori Carter and her son Timmy, as well as several distant relatives and a host of long time friends. Funeral Service for the late Charlie Farrar will be held Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Funeral Chapel, 4200 - 49th Avenue, Innisfail, with the Reverend Everett Hollis officiating. FIELD Mr. Ronald "Ron" Wayne Field of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, November 8, 2002 at the age of 40 years. Ron was born in Rimbey on July 13, 1962. He attended school in Rimbey, Fort St. John, B.C. and Calgary. Ron worked as an Autobody Mechanic in Ponoka, Red Deer and Rimbey, where his dedication to his work was always evident. Ron enjoyed the outdoors; water skiing, downhill skiing, horseback riding and golfing, and he loved introducing these sports to his daughters. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Verna; his two daughters, Christine and Karla Field, both of Red Deer; as well as Josh, Tyler and Catrina Duffy, all of Lacombe. He will also be lovingly remembered by his parents, Bill and Norma Field; one brother, David (Sandra) and children, Eric, Kiera and Sarah; two sisters, Colleen (Bernhard) Troitsky and children, Maren and Brendan; and Brenda Field and husband, John Monteath, all of Calgary; his father-in-law, Andy Anderson of Lacombe; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his grandparents, Wilfred and Lena Marchildon; and Alexander and Edith Field. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Paul Moret, Celebrant. Ralph Howard On November 13, 2002 Mr. Ralph Howard Foster of Ponoka passed away at the age of 70 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters JoAnn Kelly (Allan) of Lethbridge, Sandra Foster of Stettler and Chris Foster of Victoria, British Columbia; and two grandchildren Melissa and Corrie Moore of Lethbridge. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn in 1984 and his parents Howard and Evelyn in 1985. A graveside service will be held in the Field of Honor at Forest Home Cemetery in Ponoka at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19th. HEENAN, Russel Wayne
Mr. Wayne Heenan passed away on November 8, 2002 at the Innisfail Rosefield Centre at the of 89 years. Wayne was the first baby born in Sylvan Lake after it was incorporated as a town. Wayne is survived by his daughter Marwyn (Ed) Fisher and their children Cindy (Rick) Ells, Paddy (Julie) Fisher, Sandi (Michael) Goldie, Jeff (Lisa) Fisher; his son Garry (Joanne) Heenan and their children Shannon, Robyn and Jay. He is also survived by his sister Elsie (Jack) Goody, numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie in December of 1981. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bob Wilson officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House. HILL
William Frederick (Bill) Hill of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital on November 11, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Bill worked on farms outside of Lacombe where he broke horses and did duties as a farm hand. He enlisted in the army in 1939 and served overseas a member of No. 3 platoon A Company of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry. He was married in England to a war bride and had one son, Robert. After World War II he came home and settled in Calgary, AB, where he was an orderly in the Belcher Hospital for several years, he then met and married Myrtle to whom he was wed. Myrtle had a young daughter Deanna. Bill and Myrtle had two daughters of their own, Florence and Lana. After leaving the Belcher Hospital, he was then employed by Stars Ambulance, Associate Ambulance, then opened his own ambulance service, Hill's Ambulance, Hill's Taxi and Hill's Nursing Home in Forest Lawn. After leaving the nursing home he became employed as a Safety Officer in Heavy Construction sites, SAIT, University of Calgary and Calgary Airport. He was united in marriage to Roberta in Calgary. After leaving Calgary, Bill retired to Lacombe, where he was called upon again to work at several Gas Plants in the area as Safety Officer. During his retirement he enjoyed travelling and vacationing all over. Bill had knee surgery in May of this year and his health slowly deteriorated from there. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a Pilgrim of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Bentley Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, dancing, photography and listening to old time dance music. Bill is survived by his wife, Roberta, one son Robert in England, three daughters, Deanna of B.C., Lana of Grande Prairie, Florence of Tees, son-in-law Peter Duek, five granddaughters, six grandsons, 16 great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, two grandsons that the Hill name lives on. Funeral services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 14th, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Field of Honour Lacombe Fairview Cemetery.
