LANDRY

Our beloved Henry Landry passed away the morning of Friday, February 21, 2003 at the age of 87 years. Born in New Brunswick in 1915 he moved to Red Deer at the age of 3. After his tour of duty in WWII, he returned home to marry his sweetheart and bought the family farm. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Louise Landry of Red Deer; his sons, Chuck (Jan) Landry, Paul (Karen) Landry; his daughters, Annette Mymko, Jan (Tom) Blunden. Henry is also survived by 10 grand-children and 5 great grand-children. Henry loved to dance, play cards, and his passion was fishing. He will always be with us through our laughter, tears and dreams and will be lovingly remembered for his light hearted stories. Catholic Mass of Celebration will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Evening prayers are Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

LEES, Dorine

Dorine Maude Lees of Red Deer, Alberta passed away suddenly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer, on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at the age of 72 years. Dorine leaves to mourn her beloved companion, Eddie of Red Deer, and many, many friends. A Graveside Service in Dorine's Honour will be held at Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Grant Woodcock of Michener Services officiating. LEISKE

Mrs. Gladys Marie Leiske of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on February 17, 2003 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on September 23, 1921 where she lived with her family on the farm and attended school until the age of sixteen. To help support the family farm, she left to work in Beiseker. Here she met and married Elmer Leiske on April 15, 1946. They settled in Lacombe where she stayed at home to raise her family. She took in boarders and did dress-making for several years. When the children were older she worked at the Lacombe Hospital in cleaning and then in the kitchen where she became the cook. In 1968 she took the position of operator and cook of the cafeteria at the new Lacombe Composite High School where she worked until her retirement. Together, Gladys and Elmer retired to enjoy their grandchildren, motor-homing and the company of all their friends and family. Her legacy to all who knew her was "whatever she could crochet, knit, sew or cook". She was predeceased by her parents; a brother Walter; a sister Viola; and her loving husband Elmer. She is survived by her two children, Pat (Arvid) Hopp and their children Rodney (Yasmin) Hopp and Corey Hopp of Edmonton, Lionel (Chris) Leiske and their children Barry, Reid and Spencer; three brothers, Vern (Dorothy) Sayler, Leo (Bernice) Sayler, Les (Esther) Sayler; three sisters, Goldie (Raymond) Triebwasser, Delores (Allan) Thachuk, Abbie (Arnold) Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society, Box 5576, Lacombe, Alberta, T4L 1X2. LITTLE (nee Lyon)

Peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Portage District General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Allison May Little passed away at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by her husband Keith in August of 2002 and her parents D. Rufus and Ella Mae (nee Cuthbert) Lyon, Allison leaves to cherish her memory her son Neil (Donna) Little of Pincher Creek, Alberta, daughter Barbara (Charles) Savage with grandchildren Michael and Karen, all of Calgary, Alberta and her son Glen Little of Surrey, B.C.; brother and sister-in-law the Honourable Sterling and Barbara Lyon of Winnipeg; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Allison's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ross Taylor officiating. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Allison's memory to Douglas Campbell Lodge Foundation, Ward C, c/o Portage District General Hospital Foundation, 150 9th Street SE, Portage la Prairie, MB. LUOMA, Elmer

Mr. Elmer Ossian Luoma passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2003 at the age of 75 years. Elmer is predeceased by his parents, Erick and Othealia Luoma (Harju), and brothers John, Ray, Eugene (Ralph), Eino, Matt, Eidel, Ernest as well as sisters Marie Gabara and Sylvia Lund. Elmer is survived by his sisters, Elvira (Cliff) Lawrence and Miriam Swartz, three children, Brenda (Rob) Scott, Brian Lund, Randy (Debra) Luoma, their mother Annie Luoma, as well as three grandchildren, Amanda, Travis and Ashley. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at PARKLAND FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM LTD., 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB. LYON, Alvina

Mrs. Alvina Rose Lyon of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, February 7, 2003 at the age of 76 years. Alvina was born to Margaret and Frank Lyon on Wednesday, September 1, 1926 at Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She leaves to cherish her memory, her eight children: Donald (Susan) Tisdale of Rocky Mountain House, Leonard (Carol) Tisdale of Blackfalds, Carolyn (Alain) Benoit of Blackfalds, June (Rick) Walker of Red Deer, Brenda (Barry) Cowie of Red Deer, Kathy (Lyle) Twa of Alix, Terry Jean Holdstock of Red Deer, and David (Dianne) Holdstock of Bentley; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; one sister Gladys Osborne; one brother Leroy Lyon; one brother-in-law Clyde Walker; numerous nieces and nephews and good friend Edna Heighington. MCCRACKEN, Jack

Mr. Jack Brownlee McCracken of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Jack leaves to mourn his two daughters MaryLynne (Piney) of Cochrane, AB., grandchildren Allison and Andrew , and Catherine of Red Deer. Also one sister Florence Ryan of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife Margaret Catherine. Memorial Services will be held in the chapel of the Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67TH Street, Red Deer, on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverend John Yoos. McCURLIE, Susan

Mrs. Susan McCurlie, beloved wife of the late Mr. Frank McCurlie of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Nursing Home, Red Deer on Friday, February 14, 2003 at the age of 85 years. Susan was a wonderful and loving wife and mother, to her family. She also had great talent for gardening and truly loved the outdoors. In her spare time, she also enjoyed quilting. Susan was a devoted and faithful Christian and lived her life by the values she held true in her heart. She was a lovely and inspiring lady and will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Susan is survived by her nieces, Marian Ellis and Anne Schow, both of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sally in 1992 and her husband, Frank in 1989. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, February 20, 2003 between the hours of 1:00 and 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the Funeral Service. MELNYCHUK, Jessica Lyn
(1979 - 2003)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessica Lyn Melnychuk on February 9, 2003. Jessica was taken from us suddenly as a result of an automobile accident. Jessica was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. During her youth, Jessica participated in rhythmic gymnastics, karate, downhill skiing, and general neighborhood fun. She was also an enthusiastic member of Students Against Drinking and Driving. Jessica's love for travel lead her to the Medicine Hat College where she completed her diploma in Travel and Tourism Management with honors. Recently, Jessica and Devin made their home in Red Deer, Alberta, where she worked as a Travel Consultant with AMA. Jessica enjoyed life to the fullest in everyway. She was an honest, caring and passionate person who made a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of her company. Jessica had the genuine gift to make everyone around her feel special. The memories we have will be cherished forever. Jessica will be greatly missed by her best friend and partner, Devin Kuntz; parents, James and Shirley; sisters, Melissa (Martin) Neumeier and Stacy, Grandma Anne Derkach, Aunts Debbie Melnychuk, Paulette Melnychuk and Jane Palmer and their families and Uncle Gerry Derkach. Jessica was predeceased by grandparents, Nick and Dolly Melnychuk, John Derkach and Uncle Vince Derkach.
