Mr. Eddie Alan Merasty of Red Deer beloved husband of Pam, passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the age of 51 years. Besides his loving wife Pam, of 32 years, Eddie is also survived by his 2 daughters, Sandra (Roman) Korpus of League City, Texas U.S.A. and Lisa (Kevin) Dunlap of Sylvan Lake; grandchildren, Brianna, Alexa, Darian of League City, Texas, U.S.A. & MacKenzie and Lucas of Sylvan Lake. He is also survived by his parents, Elsie & Ernie of Kelowna, B.C.; and 3 sisters, Debbie of Kelowna, B.C.; Sherry of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Bonnie of Calgary, AB. MILLER, Hilda
Surrounded by her family, Mrs. Hilda Miller passed away peacefully to her home in Heaven on Monday, February 24, 2003 at the age of 83 years. She was born on February 5, 1920 at Alhambra, Alberta. She married Alfred Miller in 1938 and lived in Alhambra, Camrose and Calgary. Hilda moved to Rocky Mountain House in 1976 and later to Red Deer where she lived until her passing. Her family was very important to her and she was a caring, loving, wife, mother and grandmother and a faithful child of God. She will be lovingly remembered by her family; her children, Carol (Norman) Saar, Ron Miller, Deb (Jack) Bexfield, grandchildren; Mike, Cathy and Rob Saar, Tom and Jenny Bexfield, sister, Margaret Cochrane, brothers, Herman (Hildur) von Hollen, Gusty (Gwen) von Hollen, Tony (Jean) von Hollen and brother-in-law George Miller, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Alfred in 1975 and five sisters and one brother predeceased her. A Celebration of Hilda's life will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Boulevard, Red Deer on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend James Schuelke officiating. MOLLAN, Richard
Mr. Richard Milton (Dick) Mollan passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the age of 74 years. Dick was born on December 26, 1928 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Dick was employed at the Locker Plant in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He was the Manager of the Pioneer Exhibition in Saskatoon, owner of the KoKo Club in Kelowna, British Columbia, owner of the Top Hat Grocery in Kelowna and was the Western Canadian Representative for the Knights of Columbus Insurance. Dick was also a Realtor and held different sales positions within Red Deer. Golf was his passion and he greatly enjoyed his employment with the Red Deer Golf and Country Club and the Riverbend Golf Course. While growing up, Dick was very active in all sports. Much of his volunteer time was spent entertaining, tap dancing, directing amateur theatre and performing his comedy routines. Attending Sacred Heart Church, golfing, playing bridge, having coffee and get togethers with his friends took up most of his retirement years. We will remember Dick for his engaging personality, love of life and his great sense of humor. Dick is survived by his daughters, Maureen Mollan, Heather Mollan (Ryan), his son, Richard Mollan (Sandy), sister, Marilyn Potts (Dale), sister-in-law, Nola Arsenault, aunt, Margaret Palmer, grandchildren, Michelle and Angela Mollan, Joel and Jordan Mollan, great grandchildren, Giovanni and Odessa Mollan and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his loving wife, Monica, his mother, Linda, father, R.J. and brother, Don. Mrs. Margurite Mary Murray of Red Deer, Alberta passed away in the care of her family, at Didsbury, Alberta, on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Margurite was born on May 15, 1919 in Vandura, Saskatchewan. Margurite leave to mourn her loss, her children, Dell and her husband, Terry Lloyd of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Bill Murray and his wife Linda of Calgary, Alberta, Barbra and her husband Keith Walker of Didsbury, Alberta, Laurie and her husband Danny West of Tilley, Alberta; daughter-in-law Barbara Capis of Lacombe, Alberta; sixteen grand-children and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Ray Hunt of Calgary, Alberta and Neil and his wife Shirley Hunt of Fort St. John, British Columbia; three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Margurite was predeceased by her husband Robert Allan in 1988; son George Lorne in 1978 and son Bruce Martin in 1987. Gordon Carl Olson, born April 10, 1934 in Glen Leslie, Alberta, passed away peacefully of Alzheimer's at the age of 68 years at the Richard Parson Auxiliary & Care Centre, Red Deer, Alberta on January 24, 2003. Cremation took place in Red Deer at Eventide Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held in Grande Prairie, Oliver's Funeral Chapel, Thursday, January 30, 2003. Reverend Vern Begalke officiating. Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Friend, Mechanic, Partsman, Welder, Fireman, Musician, Photographer, Story Teller and Inventor, there are so many words to describe Gordon. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Glenda of 48 years, five children and their spouses, Janice (Randy) Nielson, Okotoks; Karen (Don) Smith, Grande Prairie, Darlene Olson (Darrell), Red Deer, Brian (Connie) Olson, Edmonton, Rhonda (Rich) Roberts; Three Forks, Montana; 5 sisters, one brother-in-law, eight grandchildren. PATTERSON, Mary Jane
Mrs. Mary Jane Patterson of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Friday, February 28, 2003 at the age of 92 years. Mary Jane was born on June 10, 1910 in England. She moved to Canada with her family at the age of six months. Mary Jane lived in the Medicine Hat area until she moved to Red Deer in 1959. For many years, she was a proud member of the Royal Purple and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Charmaine and her husband, Dan Carritt of Edmonton, granddaughter, Marcia and her husband, Dave Pope of Pine Lake, great granddaughter, Corrie and her husband, Joel Chalifoux, great, great granddaughter, Malia Chalifoux of Calgary, great grandson, Colin Pope of Samoa, grandson, Dave and his wife, Debbie Carritt, granddaughters, Alana and Jody Carritt of Red Deer, sister, Lillian and her husband, Ralph Entzminger of Vernon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marie Angela Pierce of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer, Alberta of Sunday, February 23, 2003 at the age of 74 years. Marie was born on January 31, 1929 at St. John, New Brunswick. Marie was a wonderful and lovely lady with a kind and generous heart. For many years, she was a very involved and long standing member of The Golden Circle in Red Deer. Marie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who loved and knew her. PIERIK, Victor
Victor Pierik passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Feb. 11, 2003 at the age of 49. Victor was born on August 24, 1953 in High River, Alberta and moved with his family to Red Deer Dec. 31, 1955. While living at home with his family, Victor attended the Parkland School until the age of 21, after which Victor worked at Cosmos doing woodwork and janitorial work until February 1994 at which time he moved to a Rehoboth group home in Stony Plain, Alta. Due to failing health and in order to be closer to family and friends Victor returned to live in Red Deer in a group home run by Catholic Social Services. Victor was a very special person to all who knew him. He brightened everyone's day with his loving smile and unconditional love. We were all very blessed to have had Victor in our lives.
