MARTIN, Dolores
Surrounded by her family, Mrs. Dolores Burnett Martin peacefully went home to be with her Lord & Savior, March 20, 2003, after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 69 years. Dolores was born November 2, 1933 in Eatonia, Saskatchewan and grew up in LaPorte, Saskatchewan. She continued her education, becoming an Elementary School Teacher and shortly thereafter married her husband of 48 years, K. Duane Martin of Kindersley, Sask. on July 15, 1954. With Duane's employment in the oil business, they lived in a number of communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta, settling in Red Deer with a family of three children. Dolores loved the Lord and cherished her family with all her heart and was an inspiration as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was happiest when she was sharing her time, efforts, laughter, and stories with others. Her passion for music started early and she was playing the organ and piano for church services at the age of 14. She blessed others through her music up until her last months. She attended Deer Park Alliance Church and embraced every opportunity to share her faith with others. She felt it a privilege to be a Prayer Chain Coordinator in the church for many years. Her genuine love and kindness for others was a comfort to all who knew her. Although we grieve her loss, we rejoice that she now dwells in the house of the Lord. Dolores leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and best friend, Duane, sons, Jeff (Loretta) Martin of Edmonton, Jim (Lynn) Martin of Red Deer and daughter, Jana (Scott) Erichson of Red Deer, four grandchildren, Tanya, Robert, Dayna and Jilaine, all of Red Deer, her parents Fred and Molly Kool of Kindersley, Sask.; one brother Blair (Gertie) Kool of Saskatoon and sister Faye (Murray) DalRymple of Salmon Arm, B.C. as well as numerous nephews and nieces. PEIGAN, Steven
A gentle spirit walked among us. Mr. Steven Frederick Peigan passed away suddenly in Calgary, Alberta on March 12, 2003 at the age of 40. Steve's journey began on September 28, 1962 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Steve's sole motivation in life was for family and most importantly for his son Jeremy McNeill. He felt enormous gratitude, friendship and loyalty to the mother of their son Jeremy, Dawn McNeill and to Jeremy's half-brothers, Zac and Dallas. Also dear to Steve's heart were his mother, Sara Rattray, sisters Toni (Scott) Hahn and Vicki Kokol (Garnet Smeal), nephew Coleman Jarvis and niece, Lisa Kokol, all of Red Deer. He leaves to mourn his grandmother, Elizabeth Driedger of Saskatoon, seven aunts, three uncles and many cousins across Canada. Steve was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Henry Driedger, Uncle Vernon Driedger and cousin Venita Mowery. Steve left an indelible imprint upon anyone who took the time to know him. He had a gentle, quiet intensity about him. Steve judged no one for their flaws and imperfections. It was his gift to humanity. His strength of character as a human being was astounding. He traveled, so very many miles on his journey, always extending courtesy, respect and dignity to others he met along the way. He had a natural giving way with people, never giving any false pretense of who he was. Steve loved so many things in life. His first love was the quest for knowledge. His knowledge of books, music (contemporary rock) and sports (hockey, baseball and footfall) was simply amazing. The first books he read as a child were encyclopedias and the Guinness book of world records. The facts and stats which Steve knew about hockey players and the game of hockey were surpassed only by his vast collection of hockey cards. None of these pursuits and interests could ever compare to the dedication and love he left for Jeremy. He would talk to his son openly and honestly, always showing love and respect. Steve seldom displayed anger, and if he ever did, he had all the facts and stats to back it up! Steve felt such pride and joy for Jeremy and all of his family. Steve's loving spirit lives on in Jeremy, in his mother and sisters, brothers-in-laws, in the many friends and lives he touched in Grace House. The long restless journey is now over for Steve. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Grace House, Box 1785, Drumheller, AB TOJ OYO c/o Kath Hoffman. In living memory of Steven Peigan a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
