Clarence Benjamin Gammon, of Red Deer, AB. passed away peacefully to be with his Saviour on July 28, 2003 at the age of 52 years. Clarence was born at home in Delhaven, Kings County, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret (Burrell) Gammon of New Minas, Nova Scotia. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends for his kindness and love of life. He was formerly employed with Fletcher's Fine Foods for a number of years until May of 1997. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine (Geri) (nee Meisner), formerly of Cambridge Station, Kings County, Nova Scotia; his two sons, Stephen (Debbie) Gammon, Cochrane, AB. and Adam Gammon of Red Deer; his sisters, Gertrude Pick, New Minas, NS, Mary (Laurie) Mosher, White Rock, NS, Betty (Graham) Green, Jessie (Leonard) Schofield; brother Wayne (Angela) Gammon, all of Bear Lake, B.C.; two grandsons, Cody and Curtis of Cochrane, AB.; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews in NS and B.C. A memorial service will be held at Liberty Christian Assembly, where he faithfully attended, on Taylor Drive and Horn Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 11 a.m., with Pastor George Bradley officiating. Vern Henderson of Eckville passed away peacefully while camping in the mountains on Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the age of 59 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his family. HUGET, Clarence
Mr. Clarence William Huget of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer at the Red Deer Nursing Home, Red Deer, on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the age of 96 years. Clarence was born at Winkler, Manitoba. He moved with his family to Red Deer at the age of six months and lived here all his life. Clarence married Elizabeth in 1941 and six weeks later left for Europe to serve in the Army in World War II, in the Medical Corps. Upon his return, he worked with his father in the Stucco Business. In 1955, he joined the Red Deer Fire Department as one of the original permanent firefighters. Clarence retired from the Department as a Fire Inspector in 1976. Even after his retirement, he always considered himself a part of the Fire Department. He was retired for one day and then he went to work for the Public School Board until his eighties. Clarence was an avid gardener and yard person and loved being outdoors. He lived in his own home until the age of ninety-four, when he was stricken with cancer. Clarence then moved into the Red Deer Nursing Home with his wife, Elizabeth and spent two wonderful years there. He soon became the Mayor of the Home and had many of the staff abiding by Clarence's Rules. One of them was a daily glass or two of wine. Clarence was without a doubt a one of a kind character who will not be forgotten. Being a caregiver his entire life, it was his turn to be cared for. He received fellowship, love and compassion from the caring and wonderful staff and volunteers at the home. Clarence leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Elizabeth and his son, Bill and his wife, Donna. He is also survived by three sisters, Gladys (Thomas) Hoskins, Mildred (Ewart) Shannon of Red Deer and Carole (John) Carson of British Columbia; sister-in-law, Elsie of Innisfail, Alberta and numerous nieces and nephews. Clarence was predeceased by his parents, an infant brother, brothers, Roy, Harold, Walter and Gordon and a sister, Vera and many special people at the Red Deer Nursing Home. A Celebration of Clarence's Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend John Yoos officiating. Olive "Ruth" Huson, beloved wife of Jack Huson, passed away on July 21, 2003 in Rocky Mountain House at the age of 79 years. Ruth was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 13, 1924 to Frank and Lula Cooper. Ruth is survived by her husband of sixty years, Jack, her children, Bob (Sharon) Huson of Rocky, Shirley (Wally) Tanasichuk of Stony Plain and Joe (Carol) Huson of Rocky, her grandchildren, Liane (Rob) Kabatoff, Terry Tanasichuk, Jay Huson, Mark (Lola) Tanasichuk, and great grandchildren Nicholas and Elana Kabatoff and Desire Tanasichuk. She is also survived by her sister May Bixby of Drumheller, brothers Walter (Doris) Cooper of Calgary, and Roy "Mike" (Becky) Cooper of Yuma, Arizona, sisters-in-law Sheila Bruce & Reg, Dot Huson, Anna Fillinger and by her numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a sister who died in early childhood, her grandsons Stephen Huson in 1969, Joey Huson in 1985 and David Huson in 1986. A Funeral Service for the late Ruth Huson will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ron Tiessen officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Shirley Janssen passed away on July 9 at age 55 years after a ten-month battle with cancer. She leaves to mourn her two grandchildren, Natasha and Mitchell as well as her loving husband of 35 years and best friend, Doug; their two daughters, Carmen (Rod) Newsham and grandson Mitchell and Kristie (Jake) Fehr and granddaughter Natasha. Shirley also leaves two sisters, Bobbi Fox (Larry Hansen) and Heather (Doug) Buck and niece Amber. She was predeceased by her parents Mavis and Herman Fox and by her mother-in-law Kay Janssen. Born in Bonnyville Alberta, Shirley lived in northern and central Alberta until her junior-high school years when her family moved to Edmonton. It was in high school that she met her future husband; they were married in 1968 which was mid-way through Shirley's RN training at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. Following Shirley's nursing on the labor & delivery unit at the Royal Alex until Carmen's birth in 1972, Shirley and Doug moved to Vermilion where Kristie was born in 1975. Then the family moved to Medicine Hat where Shirley started with Sears Canada after the girls were in school. And she continued with Sears in Medicine Hat and Camrose before the families move to Innisfail in 1985. She was with Sears Parts & Service where she made many friendships with long-term customers. Shirley's customers often referred to her as the Lady with the white hair. Following her retirement four years ago, Shirley became involved with RCMP Victim Services in Innisfail. This was a most fulfilling role for Shirley and was again a source of numerous friendships. Shirley and Doug have traveled the Caribbean extensively and following Doug's retirement in 2001, they had plans to travel a lot more. Since the birth of her grandchildren, Natasha and Mitchell have been the focus of her life. Amma, as she was known, always had a pocket-full of candies for her grandchildren and for any other child she encountered. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held at the Innisfail Funeral Home, 4415 - 49 St Innisfail on Monday July 14 at 2:00 PM. Cremation. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Innisfail Victim Services, the David Thompson Hospital Foundation (the Parents Pediatric Centre) or to S.T.A.R.S.

Trudy Janssen, born November 20, 1924 passed away peacefully on June 27, 2003 in Olds, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by; her friend and companion, Ernie Slang, her sisters, Frances, Edith, Mildred, Jean and Marian as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members. She was well known in the community and will also be missed by her many friends. She is predeceased by her husband John, parents Carl and Tomina Engebretson, brother Herbert and sisters Myrtle and Evelyn.
