GALAY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bridget Dawn Galay. She passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital with her family by her side, she has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior. Bridget will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Diana and Hank McArthur of Trochu, her twin sister, Crystal Galay of Red Deer, special friend and caregiver, Precy DeLeon, her father, Louis Galay of Dauphin, Manitoba, step grandmother, Anne McArthur of Trochu as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all of the many friends and acquaintances that touched Bridget's life. She was predeceased by her grandparents. "B" continuously amazed everyone around her with her strength and spirit for life as she struggled courageously with Cerebral Palsy. Bridget was a unique young lady with a warm heart and a smile for everyone. She had a pleasant personality hidden within her, only to be discovered and shared with those who spent quality time with her. She was good natured and had a real sense of humour about her, an outgoing and happy-go-lucky gal. She was a social butterfly, enjoying time spent with family and friends. "B" enjoyed most of all, her time and cuddles with her "favourite" sister, Crystal. She developed close bonds with her friend, Randilee, and a special love for adopted grandma, Filomena. Those wishing to pay their respects to Bridget can do so at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 Street) on Friday, May 25, 2007 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bridget Galay can do so to the Cerebral Palsy Association (3688 - 48 Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta, T3J 5C8).

GATHERCOLE

Debra Ann Debra Ann Gathercole of Sylvan Lake, born on December 7, 1962, passed away at the age of 44 years in the Red Deer Regional Hospital after a long struggle with C.O.P.D. Debbie was best known to her family and friends as "the Duck". She will be remembered as a person who loved to laugh and share a good joke. Debbie was a free spirit with the love of travel. Her favorite memories were her travels to the Mediterranean. Debbie also enjoyed her travels to the mountains to do some fishing. Debbie was a good friend to many people who were considered by herself as an extension of her family. Debbie is loved and will be missed by many people. Our "Ducky" has now gone to heaven to be with her father Roy Gathercole of Sylvan Lake as well as her infant son Tanner Levi Gathercole. Debbie is survived by her two sons Tyler James Roy Gathercole and Levi James Gathercole both of Sylvan Lake. She is also survived by her mothers Vera Murray of Grande Prairie and Linda Sawatzky of Calgary; her aunts and uncles Walter and Bette Gathercole of Sylvan Lake, Inez Gathercole of Sylvan Lake, Mary Darlington of Eckville, Gwen and Earl Beck of Red Deer, Gordon and Nonie Vincent of North Battleford, Saskatchewan; cousins Steve and Laurie Gathercole of Sylvan Lake, and Karen and Doug Hope of Rocky Mountain House; her half brother and sister David (Susan) Sawatzky and 2 children of Calgary and Tamara Rouppt and 3 children of Calgary; sister Brenda Haslim and 2 children; family friend George Collins of Calgary; and special life long friends Cindy and Stephen Mason of Clive, Lorraine Hawkes of Ponoka, and Kathy Harron of Medicine Hat as well as many cousins, family and friends to numerous to mention. A Funeral Service for the Late Debbie Gathercole will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Lake on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. GREEN (ARNOLD) Simonne Marie

Simonne Arnold Green of Sylvan Lake passed away in the Red Deer Hospital on June 4, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Simonne is survived by her children, Larry (Bonnie) Arnold, Dale (Marilyn) Arnold, Sandy (Eugene) Bosse, Ray (Debbie) Arnold, Kent (Candice) Arnold and Lorne (Dena) Arnold; seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; step- children and step-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Alice) Thibodeau; as well as the children and grandchildren of Roy Green. Simonne was predeceased by her first husband, Clifford Arnold and her second husband, Roy. Family and close friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, AB. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Fran Hare officiating. HENDERSON

Yvonne Henderson of Red Deer passed away in Red Deer on June 2, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Born in Lichfield, England, Yvonne (Dalton) Henderson served with the Women's Royal Army Corps, Military Police in the Western Midlands, Wales and Northern Ireland. She immigrated to Canada in 1956 to marry her beloved husband, David. David's RCAF career took them and their young family to many places in Canada and Europe until they settled in Red Deer in 1977. In Red Deer Yvonne raised her family, worked at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and was a dedicated volunteer with Search and Rescue and St. John's Ambulance performing over 500 hours of public duty. She adored hot ballooning and travelling off the beaten path. This wonderful, adventurous lady will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Yvonne will lovingly be remembered by her husband, David and two sons; James Henderson (Kim O'Brien) of Red Deer and Ivor (Anne) Henderson of Red Deer, four daughters; Dawn (Mike) Upham of Cold Lake, Sherry (Larry) Darling of Penhold, Carol Henderson (Rus Pierce) of Edmonton and Kim (Lyle) Langmaid of Sylvan Lake. She will be missed by her nine grandchildren and five great grand-children. She will always be remembered by her one brother, Ivor Dalton of Wallaceburg, Ontario and two sisters; Mary Herbert of Oakville, Ontario and June Hook of Weston, Ontario. A Memorial Service will be held at Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 - 67 street) on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Yvonne had a great affection for the bears at "Discovery Wildlife Park". 1944-2007

Mrs. Shirley Mae "Bobbie" Hubbard passed away at home on Monday, May 21, 2007 at the age of 63 years from lung cancer. Shirley had a home with an open door. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and always welcomed visitors. She is survived by her mother, Louise Robinson, a son, Don (Patricia) MacLeod, a sister, Maxine (Wayne) Huston, two step-daughters, Danielle (Erik) and Rhonda (Mike), her grandchildren of whom she was very proud of Donald, Kelly and Zach, Dan's mother Grace Hubbard, five sisters-in-law, Pat, Bernice, Muriel, Louise and Heather and their families, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bobbie was predeceased by her father Henry Robinson, her brother, Larry and three husbands, Dan Hubbard, Hank Varga and Don MacLeod. ISBISTER
1918-2007

Mr. Ralph Isbister of Red Deer formerly of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, passed away after a brief illness at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Friday, May 25, 2007, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by two sisters, Marge Shier of Vancouver, British Columbia, Jean Winters and a brother, Tom Gibney both of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, two nephews, Jim and Rob Isbister, both of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, four step-children, Alice Jones of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Elva Fleck of Kelowna, British Columbia, Islay Wise of Red Deer, Alberta and Doug McNaughton of Penhold, Alberta. Ralph was predeceased by his wife Ida, in 1999. Interment will occur at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. JACKSON

Mr. Edgar Lennie Jackson, husband of Patricia of Innisfail passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the age of 85. Ed was born on March 13, 1922 in Innisfail, AB. He received his schooling in Innisfail and spent three years in the Navy, on active convoy duty. After completing service in the Navy, he received his degree of Pharmacy from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and went on to own and operate Jackson's Drugs, serving the area of Innisfail for 42 years. He was very involved in his community, including service on town council, a member of the school board, involved in Boy Scouts, and a director of the Innisfail Ski Hill. He was active in the Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic fraternity. Ed loved being outdoors, hunting with friends, and he always enjoyed the family farm life. Ed spent many happy times traveling and having adventures with his family. He had a passion for reading and reciting poetry, and his kind and gentle nature was appreciated by many around him. Ed and Bill Peters were very instrumental in establishing the George Kemp House in Innisfail. On December 26, 1952, Ed married the love of his life, Pat Parcels. It was on their 54th Wedding anniversary that a grandchild was born. Together Ed and Pat had six children; Tim (Lynn) of Red Deer, Danna (Bryan) Melnyk of Sylvan Lake, Janice (Heikki) Teiniranta of Hyvinkaa, Finland, Brent (Liana) of Innisfail, Sandy (Fred) Brink of Bentley and Mark (Tanya) of Sundre; 15 loving grandchildren: Sara, Amy, Melanie, Lea, Jonie, Annikki, Minna, Matti, Cailyn, Taylor, Tanner, Luke, Kennedy, Tyler and 1 great grandchild Thomas. Ed was predeceased by his brothers Wes and Jack and is survived by his loving sister Betty as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Innisfail Baptist Church on the corner of 52nd Ave and just south of 37th Street, Innisfail. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Clinic at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (P.O. Box 5030, STN Postal Box Ctr, Red Deer, AB. JOHNSTONE

Kenneth "Alvin" Johnstone 1930-2007 It is with great sadness that the family of Alvin Johnstone announces his passing on June 3, 2007 at the Red Deer Hospice. Alvin will be forever loved and sadly missed by Joan, his wife of 49 years, his children Jeff (Loreen) and Nancy, his grandchildren Kerri (Brian), Micah and Michael, and his sister, Mary Ellen (Larry) Olnick. Alvin was predeceased by his parents Ellis & Emma Johnstone, stepmothers, Helen and Olive and by his brother, Bob. Alvin was born on April 24, 1930 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He moved to Calgary with his family in 1935 and then to Red Deer in 1938. A graduate of Red Deer Composite High School in 1948, he continued studies at the University of Alberta and received a Bachelor of Commerce in 1952. Alvin started his distinguished business career with the Royal Bank in the same year. In 1958, he joined Deloitte Plender Haskins and Sells accounting firm and obtained his CA designation. Alvin followed in his father's footsteps when he joined Central Alberta Dairy Pool (Alpha Milk Company) in 1962 and ultimately became the Chief Executive Officer. He was a key figure in the merger that created Agrifoods International in 1992, following which he served as its Executive Vice President until 1995. For the next 3 years, he served as a Commissioner of the Canadian Dairy Commission until Joan finally coaxed him into the joys of full retirement. Alvin has always been a dedicated and involved member of his community, and as such he has received the following recognitions: induction into the Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School Hall of Fame, the Canadian Association of Exhibitions Distinguished Service Award, the Co-operative Council of Alberta Co-operative Merit Award, the Alberta Centennial Medal, and life memberships from the Alberta and National Dairy Assoc., the Westerner Exposition Assoc. and the Kinsmen Club of Red Deer. Most recently, Alvin was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. Alvin was loved by all who met him, and especially by his extended family who relied on his gentle leadership. Their home was open to family and friends, who appreciated the many opportunities to gather and celebrate. Alvin was always behind the camera, capturing these memories forever. He was well known as a resident expert and go-to man for electronic troubleshooting. He could also be found golfing in Red Deer and in Mesa, AZ, where he and Joan wintered along with many great friends. They enjoyed adventures abroad, lending to Alvin's formidable ability at Trivial Pursuit. A celebration of Alvin's life will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross St, Red Deer on Thursday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, a remembrance gift may be made to Red Deer Hospice Society.

KRETZUL KATHLEEN MARGUERITE

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kathy, our loving mother and grandmother, on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the age of 70 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Meadowvale, NS, she moved to Alberta in 1963. Kathy had a long and varied career with the Alberta Provincial Government, partner operating a fabric and drapery shop in Red Deer, and several years ago nursing in various hospitals in Nova Scotia and Alberta. Kathy is survived by her son Michael of Calgary; daughter Kim (Derrick) Richards, and grandchildren Brandon Stennes and Cody Richards, all of Red Deer; sister Hilda Keddy and brother Wayne Ward of Nova Scotia; as well as many other relatives and numerous friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Mcinnis & Holloway's Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E) on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Agape Hospice, 1302-8th Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1B8.
