Contois, Randy (Leo) . Randy was born November 28, 1963 in Lac La Biche, Alberta and passed away peacefully on May 27, 2016 at the Royal Alex Hospital. We will say our final good byes to Randy on Monday, June 6, 3pm at Moose Hill Cemetery (Highway 18 and RR 222, 3 miles west of Thorhild and one mile east of Opal Road) , followed by a time of remembering Randy at nearby Kononia Retreat, where Randy worked as a young man.

Helen was born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan on September 15th, 1923. She passed away in Fort Saskatchewan May 28th, 2016. She is survived by her children; Randy Barker, Miles Barker (Carol) , Perry Seymour, Wade (Teena) Seymour, Bob (Heather) Seymour, Lance (Trish) Seymour; daughter Marlene Shank; numerous Grandchildren & great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents Jacob & Sophie, 8 brothers and 1 sister. As per her request there will not be a service. It is with sadness we announce the passing of Everett who quietly went to sleep on May 24th, 2016 at the age of 93 years. He was born in Mellowdale, Alberta. Everett leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Alice; daughter, Marlaine (Jim) Lamarche, sons, Lyle (Donna) Lee, & (L.W.) Bill (Beverly) Lee; 10 grandchildren, Aaron, Jason (Brittany) , Jordan (Martina) , Chelsea (Lee) , Jarrett, Melissa (Ben) , Amy (Derek) , Chris, Melanie (Tanner) , and Deanne; & 10 great grandchildren. It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of TJ (Tjerk) Wartena of Ryley, AB at the age of 55.
TJ is survived by his loving family; his wife Leeanne; two sons Rayner (Dana) and Brandon (Kendal) ; one grandchild Emma; his mother Annie, two brothers Durk (Aeltsje) and Bouke (Bouwine) along with one sister Tsjitske (Jelle) Zonneveld all from the Netherlands; one brother-in-law Harold (Pamela) Albrecht; along with eight nephews and one niece and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Ruurd; his parents-in-law Philip and Mina Albrecht.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Victoria Foisy passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2013 at the age of 24 years. Victoria is survived by her mother Suzanne, step-father Julian Duperron, and by her father Terry Lynch, step-mother Lynda, one step-brother Randy Duperron and by half-brother James Lynch and half-sister Rachael Lynch. Victoria is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and so many very good friends. You were loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 73 years, Nellie; children Audrey (Emil) , Janie (Bill) , Don (Eileen) , Craig (Barb) and Lucille (Ken) ; grandchildren Debbie (Gord) , Blaine (Sherri) , Cam (Sarah) , Stephen, Jeffrey, Brian (Nadine) , Christine (Tony) , Taras (Lorna) , Brent (Christine) ,
Craig Jeff (Kayla) , Curtis and Sean; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Marafta; siblings Bill, Nick, John, Steve, Irene, Odokia, Jennie, Mary and Annie.
A Divine Liturgy and Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir in Vegreville, Alberta with Very Reverend Fr. Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Alberta Cancer Foundation” or “Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta.”

Henry John Rudyk
On Wednesday, December 4, 2019 Mr. Henry Rudyk long time resident of Vermilion, Alberta passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 72 years.
Henry leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Barb of Vermilion; Sister Lenore (Wayne) Miller of Vermilion; Sisters-in-law Donna Rudyk of Vermilion and Shirley (Andy) Charchun of Vermilion; Brothers-in-law Jack (Irene) Rochford of Vermilion and Brian (Ruth) Rochford of Airdrie his Mother-in-law Sadie Rochford of Vermilion as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by his Parents Alex and Bella Rudyk and his Brother Mark Rudyk, Father-in-law Thomas Rochford, Niece Sarah Anne Rochford.
A Celebration of Henry’s Life will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Vermilion Seniors’ Centre at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Anne McGrath officiating.
If so desired donations in memory of Henry may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Lucy is survived by her children, Ronny (Marsha) , Marlane (David) Iwaskow, Randy (Laurel) , Alvin (Patricia) , Carmen Cormier, grandchildren Jodi (Brad) Born, Janise, Danielle, and Amber Cormier, David and Zachary Olchowy, great grandchildren Emma and Logan Born. Lucy was predeceased by her husband Frank, son Allan, infant daughter Linda, and infant grandson Morgan Olchowy.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 10:30 at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Thorhild, Alberta. Interment to take place immediately after the service. The family sincerely thanks the staff at Westlock Continuing Care Centre for their patience and compassion over the last three years as they cared for Lucy.
Grace Fooks

Mrs. Grace Fooks passed away on February 11, 2013 in Stettler, Alberta at the age of 84 years. Grace was born to Sam and Marie Towpich on January 21, 1929 in Vegreville, Alberta. She attended school there and later worked as a telephone operator and then went on to work at a tree farm. Grace married Jim Fooks on June 3, 1951 and to this union five boys were born. As well as the love for her family, Grace also very much enjoyed spending time in the garden growing flowers of all types, she loved the beautiful colors and smells. She was an artist and had a true love for music. She could often be found relaxing enjoying time spent doing crafts or playing the organ. There were many trips with her family that she had taken later in life that she truly treasured and spoke of often with many fond memories. Grace was a loving and dedicated wife, a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother who loved life and the outdoors. She will be truly missed by her family and all that knew her. Grace is survived by her loving sons Doug (Donna) Fooks of Kelowna, Don (Jan) Fooks of Scollard, Gord (Elaine) Fooks of Edmonton and Rob (Sylvia) Fooks of Stettler. Grandchildren Audra (Jeff) , Erin (Curt) , Alexis, Jon (Tanya) , Ben (Candice) , Pete, Jordan (Stephanie) , Alan (Terra) , Brian (Chelsey) , Lynn (Chad) and Steve (Sarah) , great-grandchildren Jackson, Brady, Ryann, Parker, Brandon, Grace, Dustin, Abbigail, Madaline, Jera and Jorja as well as extended family Amanda, Alex, Jory (Nicole) , Jason (Candace) , Victoria, Alexis, Charlie and Jayla. Grace is also survived by sister-in-law Lynn (Eric) Simms and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Marie and Sam Towpich, her husband James, son Jim, brothers Sandy, Steve and John and by sisters Martha, Lucy, Helen and Jeanette. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with close family friend Larry Meyer leading the service. Howard Prescott Row
After 82 years of living life well, Howard Prescott Row of Vermilion AB passed away on December 8, 2019. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Carol; children Colin Row (Rebecca) of Lacombe, Gail Row (Garth) of Kenora ON, Tina Zayac (Wayne) of Vermilion, Tammy (Helen) Crain of Muskoday SK and Jody MacDonald (Rob) of Blackfoot; grandchildren Joel, Patrick, Nekayla (Zane) , Trystyn, Austin, Grayam, Kamryn, Desirae, Autumn and one great grandchild Emberly; siblings John Row and Lucy (Russell) Stewart and a rich assortment of nieces, nephews, cousins whom he all called friends. He is predeceased by his parents May and John Row, sister Verna Kennedy (Bill) , sister-in-law Mary and granddaughter Julie.
Howard grew up at Beaver Meadows, near Weirdale SK. A sense of adventure and work led him to Cabri/Abbey SK, then Alberta - Morin, Shouldice, Mossleigh, Champion, Grande Prairie, back to SK – Weyburn and finally to Vermilion AB where he and Carol have lived for the past 36 ˝ years. He was a proud United Grain Growers grain buyer and district manager for 40 years. He was a golfer, curler, pool player and most importantly a Papa. His vegetable garden and green grass were legendary. His happiest moments were always when he was surrounded by family and friends telling stories and barbecuing some steaks (winter or summer) . Howard contributed to every community he lived in. He was involved in Lions, Masons, Legion, Senior Center, Housing Authority, Handi-van, United Church and others. He was the proud recipient of the Rotary Integrity Award. He and Carol were foster parents for many years.
He was loved by many.
A Funeral Service for Howard will be held at the First United Church, Vermilion on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Kinoti Lairenge officiating. Interment to follow in the Vermilion Public Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Howard may be made tot he Handivan, the Poppy Fund or the Vermilion Valley Lodge.
