Dorothy (Dolly) was one of 5 children born to Harry and Jessie Churchill. She was born in Edmonton, AB and attended grade school in Fort Saskatchewan. In 1931 she with her parents moved to the Eureka Valley district to farm. In 1937 she married Ted Lembicz Sr. and they farmed in the Joffree and Eureka Valley district. In 1938 her first child was born and they continued to farm with 3 more children being born until they moved to Lacombe in 1950. In 1953 another family was started and 3 more children were born. In 1970 her husband of 33 years deceased with cancer leaving her a widow with a young family to raise. In 1984 Dorothy married Randy Smithson and moved to Rimbey, AB. where she resided until Randy deceased in 1991. She then took up single residence in the Crestomere area with her daughter Betty Cutforth. She lived in her mobile home until she required supportive care and took up residence in the Eckville Manor in 2007. In 2008 she required continuous care and took residence in the Lacombe Nursing Home until her passing. "Momsie" was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Harry and Jessie Churchill, her 2 brothers, William (Bill) Churchill and Harry Churchill, her first Love Theodore Lembicz and her friend and companion Randy Smithson. She also lost one son James Allan Lembicz in 1993 and a grandson Darin James Brook in 1977. "Momsie" leaves to mourn her step children - Ted Smithson, Gladys Jorgenson, Ken Smithson, Ron Smithson, Lloyd Smithson and Hazel Smithson as well as numerous grand children and great grandchildren. On the "LEMBICZ" family tree she leaves to mourn her children Ted Lembicz (Corrine) , Ron Lembicz (Laverne) , Marie Brook (Fred) , Sharon Walker (John) , Brian Lembicz (Frieda) , Betty Cutforth (Charlie) as well as 12 grand children and 17 great grandchildren. "Momsie" with her positive and sometimes controversial disposition combined with her generosity and willingness to succeed has been an inspiration to all who got to know her. She loved life and all the lifeforms that surrounded her. She epitomized independence and resourcefulness was her strong feature. She will be sorely missed and etched in our memories forever. Funeral Services will be held from Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Lacombe. ANDREW
Albert Cecil Andrew passed away peacefully at his home in Blackfalds on February 14, 2009 following a lengthy illness associated with a genetic condition called “Spinocerebellar Ataxia.” “Cec” was born on November 21, 1930 in Eckville, Alberta, the son of Frank and Clara Andrew. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Bernadine, brother Walter, and grandson Tyler Scoville. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Helen, daughter Diane Scoville of Red Deer, son Darryl (Gail) of Blackfalds and daughter Shelley Wierenga (Dave) of Lacombe, grandchildren; Stacey Scoville (Tony) , Tanner Scoville, Terra Scoville (Shaun) , Jody Metzger (Robin) , Richard Bradford- Andrew (Rebecca) , Shauna Wierenga (Chris) , and Kale Wierenga (Kassie) , great grandchildren’ Chase, Deacon, Phoenix, Maverick, Jesse, Kitt, and Fynn. As well as hios brother Russell (Betty) fo Olds Alberta, Sister Ethel Osberg of Okotoks Alberta, sister-in-law Evelyn Andrew of Eckville and numerous nieces and nephews. Cec’s lifetime work was in the sand and gravel business throughout Alberta and since 1964 operated out of Blackfalds, Alberta with the assistance of his family. He was an avid sports participant and played hockey with several local teams from Nordegg, Eckville, Lacombe and ending with the Oldtimer Hockey teams of Lacombe and Red Deer. In the summer, he was an enthusiastic “first baseman” for teams from Lockhart, Blackfalds, and again with Lacombe and Red Deer Oldtimer Leagues. Many a week-end was spent camping or trail-riding with family and good friends, first in a tent and ending with a motor home. His children and grandchildren have lots of fond memories and stories of those happy times. Funeral Services will be held from St. Andrew’s United Church, 5226-51 Ave., Lacombe on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Fellowship and refreshments will follow in the United Church Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lacombe Minor Hockey, Baseball or Ringette Associations or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

BAKER, MICHELLE JOYCE (nee Van Essen)
1953-2009
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Michelle lost her courageous battle with cancer on February 7th, 2009 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Lacombe Hospital. Michelle was born on April 17, 1953 in the community of Vernon BC to proud parents Fred and Flo Van Essen. She was educated in both Prince George and Smithers BC. Her early career found her working at various banks and credit agencies. In 1982 Michelle married her sweetheart Jim and a year later their daughter Tiffany was born. Beginning in 1991 Michelle began volunteering as a parent aid at the College Heights Christian School. It wasn’t long before her ability with numbers shone through and she started working as the bookkeeper/accountant there. While Michelle was a natural with numbers her true passion was her church, her family, the College Heights Christian School and the many children that she touched there each day. Michelle was predeceased by her father Frederick Van Essen in 2007 which was a huge loss for her. She is survived by her loving family: husband Jim of Lacombe, AB; daughter Tiffany Reeves (Ryan) of Edmonton, AB; mother Florence Van Essen of Penticton, BC; three sisters Angelique Powell (Dave) of Salmon Arm, BC; Lisa Sanders (Stan) of Smithers, BC; Robyn Wettstein (Les) of Abbotsford, BC; numerous nieces and nephews and her many dear friends. A Celebration of Michelle’s life will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 3 pm at the College Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church, 6915 Maple Drive Lacombe AB. Arnold Beaton French has gone to be with his wife of 50 years, Margaret, who passed away January 23, 2009. He followed February 8, 2009 at 11:30 pm in Bashaw. He is Survived by his daughter, Heather (Friend Kevin) Hicks, son Rick (Crystal) French, grandchildren Jason (Jen Hicks, Shayla Hicks, Bailey French, Paige French, and Benjamin French. As well as Four sisters, one brother and their families.

Gwendoline Edith Blackmore born Oct. 8, 1920 at Erskine, AB, passed away at Lacombe Extended Care Centre on Feb. 5, 2009. Gwen was predeceased by husband Dale and son Ralph. She is survived by 3 daughters Phyllis Richter (Ed) of Blackfalds, Arlene Ochremchuk of Edmonton and Dixie Blackmore of Edmonton. Seven grandchildren, numerous great, great-great, & great-great- great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, Freda, Georgia, & Lois as well as numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held from Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe on Wednesday, Feb.11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Lacombe. It is with heavy hearts that we announce Frank W Lacey passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and children, on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera, and his children, Marilyn Taylor (Mike) , Myrna Gill (Brian) , Debbie Williams (Brian) , Ken Lacey (Carmen) , Keith Lacey (Marian) and Brian Lacey (Mindy) , 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Kathleen “Mabel” Sargent (nee Tarzwell)
January 29, 1922 - February 5, 2009
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Kathleen Mabel Sargent. She passed away peacefully in the early hours on February 5th at the Salem Manor Nursing Home in Leduc, Alberta. Mabel was born on her parent’s farm near Lousana, Alberta. In 1946 she moved to Alix, Alberta where she met and later married Earl Francis Sargent. She was predeceased by Earl on January 26, 1954, by her mother Daisy Tarzwell in May of 1989, her father Robert Tarzwell in December of 1991, by her younger brother Lyle Tarzwell in 2008 and her daughter in law Kathleen Sargent in December of 2008. Mom leaves to mourn her son Charles Sargent of Lacombe, her daughter Sharon (Gerald) McCaughey, of Red Deer, her son Bradley (Wyona) Sargent of Lacombe, and her daughter Gwen (Donald) Hyndman of Devon. She has 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to morn are her sister, Althea (Gordon) Williams of Alix, and her brother, Melvin (Mabel) Tarzwell of Salmon Arm, B.C. As per Mom’s wishes there will be no funeral, a grave side service will be held in the spring. It is with great sadness that we announce, on Thursday January 29, 2009, Sidney R Pederson quietly passed away. Sidney is survived by his daughter Mavis (Bob Peterson) . Margaret Mary French was born in the Cornwall Township in Ontario on January 12, 1927 and went peacefully on January 23, 2009. She is survived by her loving husband Arnold Beaton French, daughter, Heather Hicks (and her friend Kevin) , son Rick (Crystal) French, Grandchildren Jason Hicks, Shayla Hicks, Bailey French, Paige French and Benjamin French. As well as her brother Garnet Poapst and all her extended grandchildren in the area. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, February 2, 2009, from the Mirror Community Hall, Mirror Alberta.
