Doris Lorraine "Dolly" Upton a long time resident of Stettler passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the age of 97 years. Dolly was born to Fred and Rose Upton in Scarborough, Ontario, where she lived and worked as a book binder for a publishing firm. In 1971, she made the decision to move to Stettler and care for her elderly Aunt and Uncle; Elsie and George Upton. Upon their passing, Dolly made Stettler her home and resided here until her passing. Dolly is survived by one sister-in-law Mrs. Doris Upton of London, Ontario, numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Rose Upton, brothers and sisters Len (Charlotte) Upton, Norm (Marian) Upton, Madge (Doug) Hickeson, Edna (Jim) Baird and Jim Upton all of Ontario. As requested by Dolly, there will be no formal funeral service take place. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Dolly, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O. Box 193 Stettler, Alberta T0C 2L0 who have been entrusted with the care and arrangements.
POLOWAY, Carl William
1923 – 2016
On March 25th, 2016 Carl William Poloway of Westlock, Alberta passed away at the age of 93. He is survived by his loving wife Helen of 67 years; son Randall of Red Deer and children Leyton, Kelsey ( Mike Anderson) their Mother Linda; son Carl Junior of Vimy; daughter Carol Heather, son Logan and his father Edgar, great-grandson Benjamin; sisters-in-law, Pauline and Kay Poloway; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents William and Mary; brothers Tony, Walter and John; sisters Anne and Rose; granddaughter Jolene. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:30 PM, Saturday, April 2 at the Westlock and District Community Hall, 10711 - 104 Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations would be gratefully accepted to Westlock Continuing Care Centre, the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
LAWRENCE, Elwood Mahon
March 31, 1931 – February 18, 2016
On Thursday, February 18, 2016, Elwood Mahon Lawrence of Vegreville, Alberta, formerly of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away at the age of 84 years.
Elwood is survived by his loving family, his wife Theresa; two sons and their families: Doug (Debra) of Regina, SK along with their children Brandy (Greg) Fingas and their daughter Olivia; Mathew (Amy) : Ken (Deb) of Vegreville, Alberta along with their children Josh (Daralyn) and their sons Colten and Broden; Jared (Angela) ; Kara (Joel) Cheyne and their daughter Brooklyn; step-daughter Linda Schneider and family of Regina, SK; also survived by numerous relatives and friends. Elwood was predeceased by his first wife Sue; his parents Jim and Catherine Lawrence; one brother Howard (Margaret) .
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration to be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the “Charity of One’s Choice.”

Betty Ernest of Westlock passed away March 30th, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Betty leaves to mourn her loss, her husband of 23 years Ernest Ernst; her son Gerald (Barb) Emsley and their sons Mike and Brian (Donna) all of Edmonton; her daughters Beverly (Don) Zeise of Westlock, Marilynn (Dick) Rogers and their family, John (Tanya) , Donald (Lorena) , Janice (John) and their families all of Grand Prairie, Jeanette Wilson of Edmonton and her family Kari, Cameron, Jessie, Amber, Meghan and Chelsea; several great grandchildren; 3 stepdaughters Roselyn and Joanne of Kelowna B.C. and Loreen of Lacombe and their families; her sister Dorothy Perfetti of Salmon Arm, B.C. and her sister-in-law Frances Short of Edmonton. Sylvia Higgins of Clyde, Alberta passed away March 26th at the age of 63 years. As per her request there will not be a service.
Sterling Silver Remple
On Tuesday, September 29, 2020 Mr. Sterling Remple of Vermilion passed away peacefully with his children by his side at the age of 69 years in Vermilion. Sterling will be forever loved and deeply missed by his Loving Children Tara (Aaron) Nixon of Stettler, Chad Remple (Kristen Berzanski) of Vermilion, Brody (Amber) Remple of Vermilion; Grandchildren Jaden Nixon, Tristen Nixon (Nicole), Milanne and Xander Dubray-Remple, Zoe and Cooper Remple; Great-Granddaughter Harlynn Vader-Nixon.
He was predeceased by his Parents John and Gertrude Remple; Brothers Fred and Ben Remple.
In keeping with Sterling’s wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
If so desired donations in memory of Sterling may be made to Friends of Vermilion Health Care (memo: Home Care) or charity of donor’s choice.
William Kenneth Tennant
On Wednesday, April 20, 2016 Mr. William "Bill" Tennant of of Vermilion passed away at the Vermilion Health Centre at the age of 86 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife Shirley of Vermilion, AB; Daughters Colleen (Brian) Bennett of Lloydminster, AB, and Beth (Curtis) Richardson of Red Deer, AB; Grandchildren Jenny, John (Melanie) , Kelly, and Mikhail (Samantha); Great-Grandchildren Palmer, Hudson, and Indica; and Brother Don (Kathy) Tennant of St. Albert, AB. Bill was predeceased by his son David Tennant.
In keeping with Bill's wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

ZAOZIRNY, Carole

On Monday, May 22, 2017, Carole Zaozirny of Vegreville, Alberta peacefully passed away.
Carole is survived by her loving family, one son Marvin (Donna) and their son Jon (Heather) : one daughter Karen Yaremchuk and her family Jordan (Brad) Daoust along with their family Cohen, Brody and Leah; Kelsey (Colin) Reitveld along with their family Myles and June; and Andrew; four brothers Nestor (Avril) Ludwick, Morris (Olga) Ludwick, Orest (Margaret) Ludwick and Joe Ludwick; two sisters Lil Buga and Ann Tkachuk; sister-in-law Rose Ludwick and brother-in-law Owen McDowell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carole was predeceased by her husband Michael; son-in-law Ron Yaremchuk; parents Frank and Irene Ludwick; one brother Floyd Ludwick and one sister Elizabeth McDowell.
A Parastas (Funeral Service) will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church (5705-51 St.) in Vegreville, Alberta with the Basilian Fathers officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery-Vegreville. Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.
BOUTIN, Eugene Albert
Eugene Boutin of Westlock, AB passed away March 24th, 2016 at the age of 77 years. He is survived by; his children Greg (Linda) of Westlock, Russell of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Brad (Jasmine) of Westlock, Brent (Zenaida) of Surrey, B.C.; Sheila (Marlon) Isaac of Westlock; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings Ben (Phyllis) of Westlock, Betty (Walter) Primeau of Parksville, B.C., Anne of Clyde, Shirley of Barrhead, Julian (Deda) of Sherwood Park, as well as numerous other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Dorothy; siblings Martin, Leona, Marion, and Wilfred.
