Cook, Ralph Ernest

It is with a heavy heart, the families of Ralph Cook of Hinton, AB announce his sudden passing on April 10, 2015 at the age of 77 years.

Left to treasure his memory and remember all that he was is his loving family; wife of 53 years, Grace and their son, Roger Cook of Edmonton, AB. Ralph is survived by one granddaughter, Jessica Anderson of Alliance, AB, one brother, Danny (Donna) Cook of Hinton, AB and sisters, Bernice (Bob) Drewe of Hinton, AB, Beverly (Gary) Sims of Brampton, ON, Joyce (Wayne) Murray of Toronto, ON and many step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous lifelong friends.

Ralph was predeceased by his father, Albert Cook, mother and step father, Winnifred and Everett McKay, brother and sister in law, Bert and Gail Cook, sister and brother in law, Audrey and Gord Bye.

In keeping with Ralph’s wishes cremation will take place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sorenson, and all the doctors and nurses of the Hinton Hospital for taking such good care of Ralph. The family also wishes to thank all those family and friends who have supported the family during this difficult time.

The family suggests that if desired a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavut, 10985 120 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5M 0H9 or to the Lung Association of Alberta /NWT Division, Box 4700 Stn South, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 6K2 in Ralph Cook’s memory.

Morin, Jean Charles Henri

The families of John Morin regretfully announce his passing on March 29, 2015 at the age of 87 years, in his sleep. John was born in Edmonton on August 6, 1927 and spent most of his life living and working in Jasper.

He will be forever remembered and eternally cherished by his family; son, Charles (Bryon) Morin of Parksville, BC, Gisele (Gilles) Avanthay of St. Georges, MN, Laura Lee Morin of Jasper, AB, Denise (Ron) Morin of Grand Forks, BC as well his beloved 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. John is also survived by his two sisters, Gabrielle (John) Koebel of Jasper, AB, and Antoinette Kinnear of Dawson Creek, BC as well as many other family and a host of many friends.

John was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Isabelle Morin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Jasper Activity Centre, Jasper, Alberta. Light refreshments will be served after the service.

In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has taken place.

The family suggests that if desired, a donation can be made to the donor’s choice in Jean Morin’s memory.

Strutt, Dennis Leroy

It is with deep sadness that family friends announce the sudden passing of Dennis Strutt on March 25, 2015 in Hinton, Alberta at the age of 69 years old.

Dennis is survived by several children in different parts of Canada, a sister in Calgary, Alberta and local close friends; Paul Lindsey, Rodney Brandle, Darcy Stone, Brent Westlund and Karin Wood.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents and other family members.

In keeping with Dennis’s wishes his body will be laid to rest at a graveside interment which will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hinton, Alberta on April 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM.

His wishes suggest that if desired a donation can be made to the Hinton SPCA, 209 Kelley Road, Hinton, Alberta T7V 1H2 in Dennis’s memory.

Beaverbone, Mary

With a heavy heart the families of Mary Beaverbone announce her passing on May 20, 2015 in Hinton, Alberta. Mary was 77 years old.

Left to remember her always and treasure her memory is her loving family; her children, Hank Thompson, Liza Thompson and Louis (Judy Littlejohn) Thompson all of Hinton, Alberta. Mary leaves behind her precious grandchildren, John (Blaine), Ross (Primrose), Jodie (Avery), Derek (Trinity), Jennifer (Shevlin), Eric (Chantal), Aaron (Nikki), Jessica, Christopher, Miranda, Darren, Ty, Eva, as well, her 23 great grandchildren. Mary is survived by her brothers, Johnny Beaverbone, Kelly Beaverbone, Fred Beaverbone, all of Hinton, AB, George Beaverbone of Ochiese, Eddy (Mary) Beaverbone of Hinton, AB and one sister, Linda Beaverbone of Hinton, AB, and sister in law Sarah Thunder.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nancy Beaverbone, husband, James Thompson, son’s Jack Thompson, Gabriel Thompson and one infant daughter, brothers, Mike Beaverbone, Anthony Beaverbone and sister, Raven Beaverbone.

Funeral Services for Mary were held on Friday May 22, 2015 at the Hinton Scout Hall with burial to follow at the Muskeg Cemetery in Muskeg, AB. A feast followed on Saturday May 23, 2015.

John Albert Strand

The families of John Strand wish to announce his sudden passing on May 17, 2015 in Hinton, AB at the age of 77 years old.

John will be forever remembered and eternally cherished by his loving family; wife and soul mate of 57 years, Yvonne, and their children, Darryl (Shelly) Strand of Thunder Bay, ON and Brendalee (Shaun) Raketti of Brule, AB. John is survived by his grandchildren, Justin, Weston, John, Michael, Kayla and his great grandchildren, Skylar Rae and two other great grandchildren. John leaves behind his brothers, Dennis Strand and Dave (Lorraine) Strand both of Red Deer, AB and sisters, Lorraine (Paul ) Brazel of Edson, AB and Linda (Ted) Ice of Carrot Creek, AB. John is survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous lifelong friends.

John was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Emma Strand and one brother, Doug Strand.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hinton, Alberta on May 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Doug Heine presiding. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment in Glenwood Cemetery in Edson, AB will take place at a later date.

The family asks that if desired, a donation can be made to the Resident Care Foundation, 114 Brule Street, Hinton, AB T7V-1M9 in John Strand’s memory.

Kellner, Kim Dewanne

With great sadness and deep sorrow the families of Kim Kellner, of Peers, Alberta announces her passing on April 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kim was 50 years old.

Left to mourn her loss and cherish all that she was, is her loving family; lifelong friend and husband, John Robert (JR) Kellner of Peers, Alberta, children, Ted (Kayla) Young and Tony (Samantha Hunt) Young both of Edson, AB and step son Brian (Alyssa Dietz) Kellner of Bakersfield, California. Kim is survived by her father, James Shelton of Kelowna, BC, brother, Ken Shelton of Kelowna, BC, sister, Kelly (Mike) Robbins of Marlboro, AB and so many other beloved family and friends.

Kim was predeceased by her mother, Wendy Shelton.

A Celebration of Life for Kim will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion in Edson, AB. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place.

The family suggests that if desired, a donation can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue N.W., Edmonton, AB, T6G 1Z2 in Kim Kellner’s memory.

Miller, Barbara Helena

Born May 25, 1928.

The families of Barb Miller of Grande Cache, announce her passing on April 5, 2015 at 86 years old.

Barb is survived by one sister, Dorothy Andrews of Boston, Mass and numerous nieces, nephews and many treasured friends. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Smith, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Left to mourn her loss and cherish all that she was, is her loving family; children, James (Ruth) Miller of Grande Cache, AB, Valerie Smith of Grande Cache, AB, Derek (Debbie) Miller of Seba Beach, AB, Colleen (Henry) Miller of Edson, AB. Barb leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jeffery (Michelle) Miller, Stacey (Dan) McDonald, Tawnya Crossman, Trudy (Daniel) Belisle, Carrie (Shannon) Eddy, Christopher (Arthena) Crossman, Carlton (Megan) Miller, Tiffany (Peter) Miller, and her precious 18 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Barbara Helena “Smith” graduated in Florenceville Superior School in June 1946. Following high school she married James (Jamie) Miller in February 1947 and spent many years farming on the family farm in Connell “Carleton County” in New Brunswick.

Barb will be sadly missed by many family and friends both in Grande Cache and abroad. She leaves behind many close friends and neighbors at Whispering Pines Lodge and many friends who had many wonderful times at the family farm in New Brunswick.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be observed at a later date.

The family suggests, that if desired, a donation can be made to the Whispering Pines Seniors Lodge, Bag 9000, Grande Cache, AB T0E 0Y0 for patient equipment in Barbara Miller’s memory.
