SMITH -- Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Grace Smith (nee Russell) of Calgary, passed away at her residence on December 20, 1997, at the age of 84 years. Pat was born March 17, 1913, in Greenwood, B.C. She leaves a legacy of love and laughter, so generously shared with family and friends. "Contentedly weary of life, nothing to complain about." She is the loving mother and grandmother, of two daughters and a son-in-law, Pat Hogan and Judy and Greg McCaffrey, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Jeff Scraba and Michelle Sorensen, Brigid Hogan, and Phillip McCaffrey; and her dear dog Meeka. Pat was predeceased by her parents, her brother Frank and her husband Fred. CATT -- Mrs. Olga Catt, beloved wife of Mr. Harold Catt of Calgary, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on Sunday, December 21, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 68 years. She was born on October 20, 1929 in Smoky Lake, Alberta. Olga grew up in Wandering River, moving to Edmonton in her early twenties. She and Harold were married shortly thereafter and have resided in Calgary since 1977. Olga had a genuine love of life and found particular pleasure in gardening, travel, and her close knit family and will be missed by all who knew her. Besides her loving husband of forty-five years, Olga is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Catt and Paul Eaton, and Dana and Kelly McDaniel, all of Calgary. She is also survived by five sisters and a brother-in-law, Dora Rosychuk, Helen Trefenanko, Mary and Mike Karpetz, all of Lac La Biche, Lena Bourque of Fort Smith, NWT, and Kay MacKenzie of Leduc, AB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Steve and Bill. CLENCHY -- Douglas Frederick Clenchy of Calgary, passed away suddenly in Nanaimo, B.C. on December 18, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Doug was born in Calgary on January 7, 1925. He served with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War, seeing active duty aboard a minesweeper off the coast of Halifax. Doug joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1948, where he worked for thirty-two years, retiring in 1980 with the rank of District Chief. He had just celebrated forty-nine years of marriage to his wife and best friend Doris on December 16, 1997. Doug is survived by his wife Doris; his sons, Carey, Kelly (Brooke) and Doug (Carol); and four grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Megan and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother Fred and sister Elsie. Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. We all miss him dearly; his memory will live with us for the rest of our lives. A Memorial Service in celebration of Doug's life was held in Nanaimo on December 22, 1997. DUCHARME -- Raymond, beloved husband of Barb of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49 years. Besides his loving wife, Ray is also survived by his children, two sons, Rod and Chad, both of Calgary, and daughter Keri, also of Calgary; one sister Cecilia Bertetic (Carlo) of Kelowna, B.C.; four brothers, Paul of Toronto, ON, Tony (Dorothy) of Petersfield, MB, Murray (Sherry) of Calgary, Richard of Kelowna, BC; and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Tulman of The Pas, MB; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Mary Ducharme. The family of Ray Ducharme wish to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Unit 57 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their care and compassion during his illness.
