SINCLAIR, 1933 - 2007 - Mr. Hugh Alexander "Hugh" Sinclair a long time resident of Red Deer, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer, at the Red Deer Hospice Society, on August 12, 2007, at the age of 74 years. At Hugh's request there will be no funeral but he wanted Sandy his son to have some friends gather at the Post Time Race Room, on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. for a remembrance get together. HARRISON
HARRISON - It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Dawn Anne Harrison (nee Holloway) of St. Albert suddenly in Clarinville, Nfld. on October 19, 2006. Dawn leaves to mourn her husband Kevin Harrison and daughters Rachel and Elissa, Elissa's fiance Wade Stoochnoff; her mother Henrietta Thompson of Red Deer; her father Don Holloway, his wife Sylvia of Red Deer; her brother Darryl Holloway, his wife Rhonda and children Ben and Erica of Edmonton; her sister Denise Holloway her husband Emil and daughter Nuria, of Dubai, UAE; and her brother Douglas Holloway of Red Deer. Dawn also leaves to mourn in-laws Dell and Barb Harrison and Shauna and Craig Wright both of Red Deer. Dawn was a passionate advocate of providing care for adults with mental and physical challenges through her 14 years of work at the Lo-Se-Ca Foundation. HALPENNY, Margaret
HALPENNY - Margaret Wilma Halpenny (nee Coe) passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre on October 18, 2006 at the age of 82 years. She was born at New Brigden, Alberta on May 18, 1924. On November 20, 1946 she married John Herbert Halpenny and they resided in Cereal, Alberta. Margaret moved to Innisfail, Alberta in 1994 following John's passing in 1990. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Barry Halpenny of Kelowna, BC and Linda (Cliff) Oak of Red Deer, Alberta; grandchildren Carli Halpenny, Jeffrey Halpenny, Patricia Hawksworth, Wendy Larson, John (Ann) Jones, Danitra (Travis) Robertson, Curtis (Katrina) Oak and Kyle Oak; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Weir, Hilda Symes, Nora Newton, sister-in-law, Eva Coe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, John; sister, Kathleen; brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Mary; brother-in-laws, Harry, Henry, Bill, Fred and George; granddaughter, Janice and niece, Margaret. SCOTT - John Munro - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful, passing of John Munro Scott of Redwater at the age of 64 years. John is lovingly remembered by his children, Allison (Cory), Jordan, and their mother Marie, his brother Alan (Donna) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was predeceased by his mother, Lillian Scott, of Red Deer, Alberta. John was born in Red Deer on May 3, 1942. He had a thirst for knowledge and many interests including music, cars, trains, astronomy and community service. He enjoyed a long career in television with the CBC. He will be most remembered as a loving father. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2006 at Moore United Church in Redwater, Rev. Sparks presiding, 5111-51 Street. MARR - Deral Clifton Marr of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at the age of 77 years. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Bonnie (Gordon) Smith and Donna Hames (Charlie Costello) all of Calgary and Sue (Cal) Hart of Fort Saskatchewan, their mother Jean (Mitch) McLean of Calgary. He had a long 43 year career with A.G.T./Telus in Medicine Hat, Drumheller and Red Deer. PETURSON - Johannes Eugene "Joe" Peturson of Red Deer passed away at the Harmony Homes Care Centre on October 15, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by daughters; Linda Ross (Dwayne Anhorn) of Red Deer, Karen (Dean) Taylor of Saskatoon, Kim Peturson of High River and son, Alan (Bev) Peturson of Red Deer. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Joel Ross of Olds, Brendon Ross of Red Deer, Shelby Ross of Hanna, Sara (Kevin) Snodgrass of Saskatoon, Dallacye Taylor of Calgary, Candice Taylor of Saskatoon, Kaelyn and Nadia Kowalchuck of High River, and Jennifer, Ann-Marie and MacKenzie Peturson of Red Deer. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Maxine in 2005. PRICE - 1952 - 2006 - Geoff Price passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Friday, September 22, 2006, four days before his 54th birthday. He chose to have his remains donated to medical training and research in the hope that something might be learned from his condition. SPURRELL
SPURRELL - Mrs. Ruth Cecilia Spurrell of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, October 16, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Ruth was born on October 28, 1932 and raised in Montreal, Quebec where she met Doug. The two were married on October 2, 1954. While they resided in Montreal, Ruth worked in the banking industry. In 1975, Ruth and Doug moved to Calgary where Ruth took employment at Woodwards. She worked there until her retirement in the late 80's. In the late 90's, Ruth and Doug moved to Olds and then again to Red Deer to be closer to their family. Ruth will be lovingly remembered as a kind, caring person who loved children and animals; especially all the very special dogs she has had over the years. Ruth will be forever missed by her devoted husband, Douglas Spurrell, her loving son, Gary (Candace) Spurrell, and beloved grandson, Vincent Spurrell all of Red Deer. Ruth will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Terry Desnarais of Winnipeg, Manitoba as well as by her three brothers; Leslie (Deanna) Tooke of Chateauguay, Quebec, Joe (June) Tooke of Calgary and Paul Tooke of Vancouver, British Columbia. Her memory will also be cherished by many dear nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude, her father, George and sister, Marion Anderson. A celebration of life to honor Ruth Spurrell will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67A Street on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with Sister Lynn Rouleau officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Ruth Spurrell may be directed to the Palliative Care Unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, care of the David Thompson Health Region Foundation, P. McCRAE
McCRAE - Charles Hugh McCrae was born on February 25, 1924 in Tabor, Alberta passed away October 17, 2006 Charles was predeceased by his wife, Laura, of 43 yrs., in 2004. He will be sadly missed by his surviving stepchildren Dennis McCrae of Whitehorse, Yukon; Diane Bye of Red Deer, Marion Gunzel of Victoria, B.C.; Burlette Boyce, Penhold; Alvin Schumacher, Grande Prairie and Mervin Schumacher of Fergus, Ontario and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at the Red Deer Hospital who have given him such wonderful care over the past few years and the staff at the Assisted Living in Pine Lodge. A graveside service will be held by the family at a later date.
