SEIFERT - Ms. Cheryl Lynn Seifert of Red Deer passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the age of 57 years. Cheryl will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of Cheryl's life will be conducted from the Theatre at the Roland Michener Recreation Centre, 119 Morley Drive, Red Deer, on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Alto Reste Cemetery. In living memory of Cheryl Lynn Seifert a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
ERICKSON, Verna
ERICKSON, Verna - 1917-2007 - It is with great sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Verna Erickson, on Dec 1 2007, at the age of 90 years. Verna was born February 9 1917, at Tisdale Saskatchewan, the second of five children. She grew up on the family farm in the Eastman District, and attended Eastman School. Verna married Lloyd Erickson on March 12 1936, and they resided in Tisdale, until 1961 when they moved to Red Deer. Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory is her loving family, daughter Margaret (Ralph) Oliver, son Garry (Gail), daughter Darlene (Bob) Wilson, daughter Joan (Gary) Shaw, and daughter Betty. Sister Ialeen Cluff of Lacombe, and brother William McNab of Keremeos, B.C will sadly miss her. Also surviving Verna are, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Her loving husband Lloyd in 1970, sister Jesse Fitzgerald, infant sister Bernice McNab, and infant great grandson Evan Shaw predeceased Verna. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church, 5226-51 Avenue, Lacombe, Alberta. Inurnment to follow at a later date. FELIX Dallas H. - Oct. 5, 1937 - Nov. 29, 2007 - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dal (Pops) on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the age of 70 years. Born October 5, 1937 in Cold Lake and raised in what was known as Felix's Hill on the southwest shore of Cold Lake, he will be remembered for his great kindness, honesty and wit. His involvement throughout the oil industry for over fifty years earned him the respect of many friends and a source of many favourite stories. Besides being a loving husband of forty-nine years to Hilma, Dal was also father to Terri (Myles), Brent (Isabelle), Rhonda (Ross), Dallas (Michele) and Derek (Michele), grandfather of ten and a great-grandfather of four. He is survived by his sisters, Kay (Alfred) of Calgary, Brenda of Edmonton, his aunt Irma of Stony Plain, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Nellie, and his sister Sharon. MEHANEY Kevin - April 26, 1958 - Nov. 30, 2007 - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Kevin Mehaney, who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident south of Fort McMurray on Friday, November 30, 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Corey and Ryan, their Mom Verna, his Mom and Dad, Bernice and Alphaeus, sisters Flo (Alvin) Boyd, Sandra (Gary) Gale, Myrtle (Walter) Burt, Cynthia (Carl) Burt, and brother Derrick (Vanessa), his mother in-law Hilda Earle, sister in-laws Daphne (Cyril) Ings, Maxine (Don) Wheeler, Vera (Paul) O’Keefe, brother in-laws Glenn and Wayne (Wanda) Earle and many loving cousins, friends, and work buddies. Also left to cherish his memory are special friends Rick Miller and Roar Olsen from Fort McMurray, Reg Simms, Harry Stuckless, Don Powell and Bruce Watkins from NL. Kevin worked in Fort McMurray for the majority of his career. He dearly loved his family, had a great passion for life, and was an avid car collector. FIDDLER, Robert "Bob" Lloyd - Robert "Bob" Lloyd Fiddler passed away suddenly in Yuma, Arizona on November 28, 2007. He was born in Maidstone, Saskatchewan on January 21, 1941. Bob is survived by his wife Willi; sons Rory and Gregory; his brothers Vern (Noelene) of South Africa, Don of Ottawa, ON, and Larry (Linda) of Medicine Hat, AB as well as sisters Isabelle Timm of Minnesota, Georgine (Jerry) Bamping of Kelowna, BC and Lynette Fiddler, of Vancouver, BC. Bob spent many years serving for the Canadian Armed Forces before retiring and relocating his family to Fort McMurray, AB to work as an engineer for Syncrude. For those wishing to pay their respects, they may do so at the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on December 6, 2007 from 7:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. O'TOOLE, John (Jack)
Bernard John (Jack) O'Toole passed away at his home in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Monday, November 26, 2007, at the age of 63 years. Jack was born on April 11, 1944 in Bruce, Alberta, the youngest of eight children. He was raised on a farm and developed a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. In 1969 Jack and his wife Shirley were married in Edmonton, Alberta. Together they had two daughters, Rona and Heather. Jack had several jobs over the years, including working as a police officer and working at Alpha Dairy in Red Deer. He also owned a successful glass business in Red Deer for several years. Most recently, Jack was living in Grande Prairie and worked at the local gun range. Everyone who met Jack was immediately drawn to his quick wit and his wonderful sense of humor. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was able to go hunting with his brother Bill and other family members. Jack was immensely proud of his grandson Brady and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with him. Jack will be sadly missed by his daughter Rona (Brian) Sutherland and grandson Brady Sutherland of Pine Lake, Alberta and daughter Heather O'Toole of Edmonton as well as his former wife Shirley O'Toole of Edmonton, brother Bill (Pat) O'Toole of Grande Prairie, nephew Jack (Rita) O'Toole and his family, Sean O'Toole, Ryan (Melanie) O'Toole and great nieces Emma and Hallie and Ashley O'Toole, nephew Garry (Penny) O'Toole and his daughters, Colleen and Keegan of Owen Sound, Ontario, nephew Kevin (Cathy) O'Toole and his family, Alison (Darryl Hiscock) O'Toole, great nephew Michael, Nicole (Matthew) Monnette and great nieces Hailey and Chloe, and Stephen O'Toole, niece Maureen (Robert) Lange and her family Amanda, Andrew and Dailey Lange; brothers Lawrence O'Toole of Grande Prairie, Jim (Jenny) O'Toole, of Strom, Mike (Elsie) O'Toole of Edmonton and sister Florence Christian of Wainwright. Gary was born on February 4, 1947 in Minto, New Brunswick and came with his parents to Alberta in 1951. Gary leaves to mourn his loss, his father, Alton Higgins (Audrey Carleton), daughter, Cydnie, granddaughter, Medea, sisters, Yolanda Celkis (Dave Miller), Jassandra (Jonn) Ryane, his mother and father-in-law, Eileen and Ernie Samuels, sister-in-law, Linda (Jim) Cumisky and his nephew, Aaron (Susan). McLEOD - 1939 - 2006 - Mr. Lorne Harvey McLeod of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the age of 66 years. Lorne was born on December 19, 1939 at Bentley, Alberta. Lorne leaves to mourn his loss, his children, Danny McLeod and Donna McLeod (Blaine), all of Peace River, Alberta, his grandchildren, Wayne Griffith and Janean Griffith, both of Peace River, Alberta and Amanda McLeod and Colten McLeod, both of Edmonton, Alberta. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Ron (Ericka) McLeod and Richard McLeod, all of Calgary, Alberta and his sister, Dianne (John) Sekura of Innisfail, Alberta. KATZELL, Sonja
KATZELL, Sonja Ellen - Sonja Ellen Katzell, of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, October 6, 2006 at the age of 66 years with her family at her side. Sonja was born on March 23, 1940 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. She graduated as an RN from the University of Alberta in 1961 and received her BScN in 1983. Sonja dedicated herself to her work at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and distinguished herself as the 1991 recipient of the Abe W. Miller Memorial Trophy for the Alberta Nurse of the Year. In more recent years, Sonja expressed her creative passion though quilting. The recipients of her quilts will always cherish these enduring reminders of her. Sonja is survived by her two sons William and Robert (Kathy) of Edmonton and her daughter Susan of Red Deer. She is also loved and remembered by her three grandchildren: Alexis, Graham and Sophia; and three brothers: Dennis Heney of Bonnyville, Michael (Doreen) Heney of Calgary, and Brian (Elaine) Heney of Lloydminster. Sonja was predeceased by her husband Clarence "Tad" Katzell; her parents Oliver and Margaret Heney; and her sister Beverley Heney. A funeral service will be held at the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287-67A Street in Red Deer on October 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm.
