- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -HORNBERGER - Freda Josephina, beloved wife of the late Marcus Hornberger of Calgary, passed away November 11, 1997 at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her nine children, Leon (Lois) of Orem, Utah, Sheila (Mark) Strang of Victoria, B.C., Andrew (Judith) of Vancouver, Washington, Judith (Jack) Castle of Frederick, Maryland, Martin (Sally) of Cassville, Missouri, Stephen (Linda), Mathew (Anne), and Roger, all of Calgary, and May Ellen (Don) Fairbanks of Fort Collins, Colorado; forty-five grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a brother John Svenson. She was predeceased by her husband Marcus in January of 1996, three sisters, a brother, and a grandson. Freda was born and raised in Orton, Alberta. She graduated from Normal School in Calgary and taught in one-room schools for two years. Later, she taught for twelve years at the Alberta Vocational Centre in Calgary. In 1941, she married Marcus and in 1944 they moved to Calgary where they raised their family. Freda always worked hard, serving her family, friends and neighbors. She loved to read and shared that love with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Freda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. The family would like to thank all of the staff of the Bow View Manor for their tender, loving care of Mom. She will be lovingly remembered in our hearts. HOTCHEN - Robert Leslie, born June 13, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away suddenly in Calgary December 11, 1997. Robert will be forever remembered by his loving wife Elva, five daughters, six grandchildren and one brother. HOURIE - Colleen Ann (nee Nicholson), at Calgary, on July 12, 1997, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, left the surly bonds of this earth to join our Lord. Colleen passed away peacefully and with dignity, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her son Darcy Barton, parents, Chas. and Clara Nicholson, and brother Morris. Left to survive are husband Bill; son Darrell; daughter Cheryl, all of Calgary; brother Wayne (Elaine) of Prince Albert; and numerous nieces and nephews. Colleen was born in Regina, obtained her schooling there, then married and moved to Calgary in 1958 to become a Calgarian. She utilized her skills and talents to become a devoted wife, a caring and loving mother and homemaker. Colleen will be sadly missed by her family and the many friends and acquaintances that she made, and whose lives she touched during her short stay on this earth. It is with joyous celebration that a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. The location is HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W. HOY - April 26, 1933 to November 10, 1997. Stanley High passed away on Monday, November 10, 1997 at the age of 64 years. Stanley Hoy formerly of Edmonton, now of Calgary, died after a long courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his death, his loving wife Sau-Lan; and five children, Mary Ann (Chris) Chan of Calgary, AB, and Katherine Hoy, Stephen Hoy, Paul (Patricia) Hoy, Anthony (Natalie) Hoy, all of Edmonton, AB. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Chester and Michael Chan, Taylor, Mariah, Claire, Spencer and Carissa Hoy. He also leaves one sister May Poon and her family; as well as many relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Cremation and Interment to follow on Friday, November 14, 1997 at 12:15 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. HOYME - Shirley Maxine Hoyme (nee Reagh) passed away peacefully on the morning of July 6, 1997 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 64 years. She was born, October 5, 1932 in Fort McLeod, AB and grew up in near by, Cayley. She worked for several years in the oil industry at Can Tex Drilling and Thompson Drilling. In 1977 she returned to school to become an LPN and worked at the Calgary General Hospital for seventeen years. She retired in 1993. She was an active member of the DeWinton Community Association and the Royal Canadian Legion. Shirley was predeceased by her father Egbert Reagh (Hap). She will be forever missed by her mother Sybil Reagh; husband Melford Hoyme; daughter Lynda Wheeler; three sisters, Norma Reagh, Frances Colpitts, and Elizabeth Morton; two grandchildren, Pamela Lyon and T.J. Stewart; as well as all of her many friends. Shirley was a very special person who touched the lives of those who knew and loved her. A special thanks to Dr. Grisdale and Dr. Ainsley and the nursing staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. KIDD - Robert "Lewis" Kidd, of Calgary, passed away suddenly at his residence on July 2, 1997 at the age of 63 years. Lewis was a true child of the Prairies. He was born in Hanna and raised in Byemoor, Morrin, Craigmyle, Gem, Mossleigh, Taber and Calgary. Lewis attended University in Calgary and Edmonton obtaining three degrees. He taught school in Calgary, France and Sarawak, East Malaysia. Always interested in art and antiques, he was a partner in the Ben Lim Art Gallery. Lewis led a very enriched and varied life, traveling all over the world acquiring his treasures. He was also an active founding member of the Marda Loop B.R.Z. Lewis leaves to mourn his passing his family: Ben, Stephen, Kathy-Ann and their families; sister Patricia Cardwell (Bill); brother Leonard (Kay), and their families; as well as aunts, uncles, nephews, a niece, cousins and friends. Rest in peace, Lewis, you will be missed by all. KINGSBURY - Robert "Bob" John Kingsbury, of Calgary, passed away June 12, 1997 at the age of 62 years. He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen Kingsbury (Dan Moline), of Calgary, Kelly Kingsbury, of Calgary, and Bernadine Kingsbury, of St. Catherines, Ontario; two sisters, Therese Roy (George), of Edmonton, and Deanne Barber (Bruce), of Ottawa; a brother George Kingsbury (Heather), of Beausejour, Manitoba; and their families. Bob will by sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
