HOLLAND - Stuart Anthony Holland, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Joan Holland of Calgary, died suddenly on September 30, 1997 at the age of 32 years. Stuart was born February 1, 1965 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was educated in Calgary and at the Grenville Christian College in Brockville, Ontario. Stuart graduated from SAIT receiving his hotel management and accounting diplomas and was working towards his C.G.A. He enjoyed hockey, biking, hiking, and playing rugby with the Saracens Rugby Club, as well, he was a member of Toastmasters. Stuart was a true animal lover. He enjoyed travelling and made adventures of his travels. He is survived by his loving parents, Gordon and Joan, and his brother David, all of Calgary. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, and cousins; and is lovingly remembered by his uncle John and aunty Joyce Kelly of Calgary. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Friday, October 3, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (4716 Worcester Drive S.W.), on Saturday, October 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Rev. Leonard J. Hagel, VF Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society (S.P.C.A.), 1323 - 36 Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta T2E 6T6. HOLMES - Mr. Francis (Frank) Holmes of Calgary, passed away at the Glamorgan Nursing Home on November 12, 1997 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver Hilda of Calgary; two children, Dale Holmes of Terrace, B.C. and Debbie and her husband Doug Hardy of Airdrie; seven grandchildren, Scott, Tracey, Gillian, Blake, Mark, Chad and Kevin; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Jaimie, Steven and Eric; two sisters, Phyllis Elvin and Ethel Allen; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1009 East Lake Boulevard, Airdrie on Saturday, November 15, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Grant Galpin officiating. HOLT - Jason Peter Holt, beloved only son of Peter and Linda Holt of Calgary, passed away tragically on October 30, 1997, at the tender age of 19 years. He was born and raised in the Renfrew area of Calgary, graduating from Crescent Heights High School in 1995. From a very young age, Jason loved hockey and excelled as a Goaltender. Most recently, Jason worked alongside his Dad learning the family business. Jason touched the lives of many and will lovingly be remembered as a true friend that you could always count on. Jason is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shannon and Allan, Twila and Dustin, all of Calgary, and Tammy and Reggie of Vancouver; a niece Ashley; and four nephews, Skyler, Reggin, Matthew and Isiah. He is also survived by his maternal Nana, Thelma Jackson and his paternal Grandmother Mary Holt, both of Calgary; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jason is predeceased by his grandfathers. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on November 2, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Scruggs of Bow Valley Christian Church officiating. Graveside Service at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens to follow at a later date. HOLTE - Mr. Melvin (Mel) Edwin Holte, beloved husband of Mrs. Blanche Holte of Airdrie, passed away at the George Boyack Nursing Home on November 28, 1997 after a lengthy illness at the age of 69 years. Mel was born July 3, 1928 in Amisk, Alberta and took up employment with C.P. Rail in 1944 as a fireman, retiring for health reasons thirty-four years later as a locomotive engineer. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and especially Saturday Night Hockey. Besides his loving wife, Mel is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jackie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ken Pheiffer, and Trudy and Ken Bilben; six grandchildren, Rick, Melanie, Michael, Troy, Adam and Ashley, all of Airdrie. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Setter of Spokane, Washington, and Vivian and Bob Sallows of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Terry in 1990. Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Master (216 Main Street South, Airdrie, Alberta) on Thursday, December 4, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Mueller officiating. Graveside Service to follow at the Airdrie Cemetery. The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at the George Boyack Nursing Home for many years of love and care given. HOLTZMAN - Viola Ellen Holtzman, beloved wife of Bill Holtzman, High River, passed away at their home on November 29, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Besides her husband, Vi is survived by her daughters, Rita Shaw, Moose Jaw and Patricia (Brian) Lampkin, Bonnyville, Alta.; her sons, Dave (Marlene) Middagh, Bonnyville and Wesley (Lori) Holtzman, Strathmore and their families. She is also survived by her sisters, Edith Elliott (Bill Athey), Calgary, Alice (Joe) Pruden, Kamsack, Sask., Shirley (Jay) DeMiranda, Los Angeles; her brothers, Bob (Noreen) Styner, Edmonton, Ralph (Edith) Styner, Nisku, Roy (Nora) Styner, Red Deer; and her sister-in-law Marguerite Styner, Androssan, Alta. She was predeceased by her mother Blanche Styner in 1990, her father Louis Styner in 1952, her daughter Irene Kozack in 1974 and twin daughters, Lucille and Yvonne in infancy, her sisters, Dorothy Traverse in 1956, Jean Randall in 1982, Lucille Styner in 1938, her brothers Harold Styner in 1987, Donald in 1991 and Dick in 1995, her brother-in-law Walter Elliott, 1988 and sister-in-law Ethel Styner. Funeral Services will be held at SNODGRASS Funeral Chapel, High River on Thursday, December 4 at 1:30 p.m., The Rev. R.W. Slocombe officiating. Cremation at Parklawn Crematorium, High River. A reception at the Friendship Centre will follow the Chapel Service. HOMOKY - Klara Terrie Staveley-Homoky of Calgary, passed away at home on Friday, September 5, 1997 at the age of 50 years, after a twelve year fierce and lonely battle with cancer. Klara was a dedicated and caring volunteer during the past several years with the Southland Leisure Centre, being the only volunteer to obtain one thousand hours. KIRKPATRICK - Mary E. Kirkpatrick passed away peacefully on June 7, 1997 at the age of 79 years. May was born and raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in the 1960's. She was employed by MacKenzie Jewellers until her retirement, working most of the time in the fine china department. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to a charity of their choice. KIRKVOLD - Charles Fraser Kirkvold, beloved husband of Mrs. Lynn Kirkvold of Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on September 4, 1997 at the age of 72 years. Charlie was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on November 30, 1924. He was employed in the oil industry with Chevron Corporation, traveling throughout Alberta, Manitoba, Texas, Libya, Alaska and Spain. Besides his loving wife, Charlie is survived by a daughter Sherry of Victoria, British Columbia; two sisters, Grace Bullock and Evelyn Iverson; and a brother Ken Kirkvold. In living memory of Charlie Kirkvold, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (9/6/1997).
