- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -HINDE - Ruth Hinde of the Grand Valley District passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane, Alberta on June 25, 1997. Born in the Rhodes Ranchhouse, which is presently owned by Jim Burns, on July 3, 1916. Ruth lived all of her life on her parents' homestead, "Echo Ranch", in the Grand Valley District. She is survived by three generations of cousins and many, many friends. She will be particularly missed by her cousins, Charles Young and Pat Phipps of Cochrane, Bill Walker of Crossfield and Shirley Hughes of Winnipeg and their families and her many friends. She was predeceased by her father Gordon on August 1, 1954 and her mother Dora on November 29, 1976, and many other relatives including Jack Phipps one year ago. HINKLE - Carell passed away suddenly June 5, 1997 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 53 years. Beloved wife of Mr. William Hinkle of Vulcan; loving mother of a daughter Susan Hinkle of Houston, Texas; a son Thomas Hinkle of Kennedy, Texas; her stepfather Don Marshman of Vulcan; brother-in-law Coy (Rene) Hinkle of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister-in-law Oreta (C.D.) HISLOP - Stewart Mitchell Hislop passed away December 12, 1997 at his Calgary home, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. His family and friends were by his side to the end, and he will be dearly missed. Stewart was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan on April 6, 1942 and grew up in Bassano, Alberta, then moved to Calgary as a young adult. Hemarried Mary Anne McCready in February 1962, and began raising a family and started his thirty-three year career with AON Reed Stenhouse Insurance Brokers. Stewart's impact on the business and his dedication grew in increasingly responsible roles at the Calgary office, handling the international business for several years, then managing the Calgary branch. In 1993 he was promoted to Executive Vice President and moved to head office in Toronto. He was devoted to the firm, and was admired for his ability to encourage, motivate and support the people he came in contact with. Stewart is survived by his loving wife Mary; daughter Shelagh (Jay Fitzsimmons) of Parksville, BC; son Stewart (Leah Getty) of Calgary; and granddaughter Victoria. He also leaves to mourn his mother Margaret Hislop of Calgary (formerly of Bassano); sisters, Beverly (Ed) Henderson of Whitehorse, Valerie (Syl) Tateson of Tilley, Alberta, and Jenifer (Barry) Boechler of Edmonton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Clifford in 1969, and brother Craig in 1944. Stewart was a loving husband and father, a caring son and brother, conscientious businessman, and kind friend to many. He also had a great passion for the game of golf. He will be remembered affectionately by those whose lives he touched. The family wishes to thank Home Care Nurses, Sylvi Baillie and Cheryl Whitnack, whose gentle compassion and professionalism allowed them to keep Stewart at home. HOBER - Mr. Albert R. (Al) Hober, beloved husband of Mrs. Doreen Hober of Calgary, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 10, 1997, at the age of 71 years. Besides his loving wife, Al is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Dianne Rawlinson of Calgary; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Robert Assaly of Edmonton, Deborah and Perry Pelletier of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Mary Jayne Assaly, Jill Assaly, Mathew Assaly, Cody Rawlinson, Britt Rawlinson, Blake Rawlinson, Curtis Pelletier, and Kristyn Pelletier. Al is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Emily and Bruce Talbot, and July and Dave Saturley. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Frances Chekaluk. HOGARTH - Mrs. Violet Louise Hogarth of Cochrane, Alberta, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta on June 14, 1997 at the age of 83 years. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Jack (Louise) Laird of Cochrane, Alberta; three sons, Harvey Hogarth of Cochrane, Alberta, Bob (June) Hogarth of Calgary, Alberta and John (Shirley) Hogarth of Canmore, Alberta. Violet is also survived by her dear companion August Graff; four brothers, Albert Buckler and Stan (Pearl) Buckler, both of Calgary, Alberta, Roy (Iris) Buckler, of Cochrane, Alberta and Henry (Ellen) Buckler of Bottrel, Alberta; also nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Violet was predeceased by her husband Harvey on June 14, 1959, and one sister Maggie Blow. KISH - Mrs. Helen Kish (nee Csatary). The Lord took to Him Helen Kish from the Bow Crest Nursing Home in Calgary on July 19, 1997 at the age of 84 years, after a short illness. Born on March 2, 1913 in Hungary, Helen immigrated to Canada in 1931. Her early years were spent in Hamilton, Ontario and later in Waterford, Ontario. In both places she owned and operated grocery-meat stores for many years. In Waterford she was a member of the United Church and the Rebecah Lodge. Her greatest achievements in life were being a loving, caring and compassionate person. She is the loving mother of Sylvia and her husband Casey Vervloet of Surrey, B.C.; step-son Zoltan Kish and family of Hamilton, Ontario; and three grandsons, Kelly Miele of Waterford, Anthony Miele of Toronto, and John Odlum of Burnaby, B.C. She is also survived by her brother Julius Csatary and family of Grimbsy, Ontario. She was predeceased by her spouse Zigmond Kish, daughter Helen Miele, and sister Yolanda Torkas. A Memorial Service will be held in Waterford, Ontario in the near future. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice. KISLANKO - Mr. Donald John (Don) Kislanko, beloved husband of Mrs. Grace Kislanko of Calgary, passed away at his residence on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at the age of 73 years. Don served in the R.C.A.F. from 1939 to 1945. He was married to Grace on April 25, 1958 in Calgary, and has resided here since then. Don worked for several years with Flex-Trac Equipment and Robin Nodwell, serving the Geophysical industry until 1968 when Don and his partner Herman started their own business called All Track Service Ltd. Don and Herman had a very successful business until Don retired in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and cheering on the Calgary Stampeders, his favorite football team. Don will be dearly missed by his family as well as his favorite dogs, Molly and Belle. Besides his loving wife, Don is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Marg Kislanko of Calgary; and a daughter Sandra and her boyfriend Bryan Pierpoint of Lethbridge, Alberta. He is also survived by his mother Mary Kislanko of Kelowna, B.C.; two brothers, James and Bernice Kislanko of Empress, AB, and Ed and Wendy Kislanko of Kelowna, B.C.; two sisters, Ethel and Pat Kalebaba of Scarborough, ON, and Marion and Jim Burtt of Seattle, Washington; as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his father John in 1964.
