Tolmie Hospital, Victoria, B.C. on July 21, 1997. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth MacLennan; dear sister of Marie Cumber, Dorothy Elson, Hilda Good; and her brothers, Edwin and John Broadhead, all of Toronto. She was predeceased by her brother Norman. For many years Lilian worked in the oil industry in Alberta and the North West Territories and later as a freelance writer for the Calgary Albertan. She was a Past President and Honorary Life Member of the Calgary Local Council of Women and active in the First Baptist Church, Calgary. She and her husband were avid gardeners and naturalists. MACMILLAN - Bessie MacMillan of Calgary, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 21, 1997 at the age of 98 years. She is the loving mother of a daughter Peggy and Bill Melynk of Big Valley, Alberta; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Perry and Inez MacMillan of Parker, Colorado, and John and Myrna MacMillan of Calgary, AB; and a daughter-in-law Pat Kary of Chase, British Columbia; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Bessie is predeceased by her husband George in 1975, two sons, Harry and Bob, and her daughter Patsy Ann. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Fish Creek Chapel", (14441 Bannister Road S.E.), today, November 26, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Clarence Strom officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of the donor's choice. MACRAE - Murdock (Mac) MacRae of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 1997 at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; two daughters, Murdeanne (Bob) Mazvry and Ann (Chris) Blackmore; two sons, Jack (Pauline) and David (Sherry); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. RICHARDSON - Florence Richardson passed away at her residence on December 20, 1997 at the age of 99 years. Florence is the loving mother of Doris Holtskog, Rose Lillico and Rosemary Richardson. DeMAERE - Mary Geraldine DeMaere (nee Hanrahan), aged 89 years, of Granum, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital in Claresholm on Monday, July 7, 1997. She is the beloved mother of Doral (Pearl) DeMaere of Calgary, Gerry (Ben) Bieche of Calgary and Larry (Joan) DeMaere of Granum. She will also be missed by her two sisters, Theresa Couillard of Bow Island and Stasia Newcomb of Sydney, B.C.; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband August in 1969, her parents, Austin and Mary Hanrahan, her brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Roch and Walter, and her sister Gertrude Smith. Mary was born on May 2, 1908 in Lakefield, Ontario. She made her journey west to Fort Macleod with her parents at the age of ten. They settled on a farm south of town and later moved into Fort Macleod where she completed her high school. She attended Normal School in Calgary and became a teacher in 1925. She married August DeMaere in 1930. She briefly interrupted her teaching to raise a family, then continued to teach until retiring in 1973. She was a member of the St. Augustine Church, the C.W.L. and was a life member of the O.O.R.P. After her retirement, Mary loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Fort Macleod, on Thursday, July 10, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. G. Peroni, O.M.I. officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery. A Prayer Service was held Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. at Eden's Funeral Chapel, Fort Macleod. DENBURY - Douglas George Edward Denbury, born in Calgary on August 20, 1920, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Margretha (Nell), whom he met and married while serving his country during World War II. He is also survived by his only son Leslie and his wife Karen, and grandsons, Matthew and Michael; his sisters, Betty Piedmont and Ruth (Jim) Quinn; his sister-in-law Ruth Denbury; and many nieces and nephews. DePASS - Doris DePass (nee Henderson) of Calgary, passed away at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital on Wednesday, November 26, 1997. She was born on August 15, 1907 in Oracabessa, Jamaica. She leaves behind Yolanda and Herbert Espeut of Margate, Florida, Neville and Julie DePass of Oakville, Ontario, Clive and Judy DePass of Quatsino, BC, Tony and Cecille DePass and Joan DePass of Calgary; her grandchildren, Susan, Stuart, Kevin, Mark and Ceri; great-grandchildren, Sara, Lindsay, Jordan, Danica and Scott; and her sister Faith Drysdale and family of Hamilton, Ont. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in Calgary, Jamaica and overseas. DESJARLAIS - Mrs. Esther Desjarlais passed away suddenly on September 3, 1997 at the Foothills Hospital. Esther was born on December 8, 1915 in Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask. Esther was predeceased by, and will be laid to rest beside, her beloved husband Mr. Ernest Desjarlais. Having the blessing of her life of eighty-one years and touching so many with her endless smile on life, she leaves to mourn her three children, Mrs. Frieda (Al) Suetta, Mrs. Gail Schutte and her late husband Dick, Mr. Ellery (Linda) Desjarlais; her three grandchildren, Michelle, Linda and Darcy; and her two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her only brother Mr. Cliff Swan of Regina, Sask.
