- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -SEXSMITH - Mr. Lawrence (Larry) Edward Sexsmith of Calgary, passed away in Kelowna, B.C. on September 4, 1997, at the age of 78 years. Born in Virden, Manitoba on June 15, 1919, Lawrence was Sgt. in the P.P.C.L.I. during the Second World War. After returning from overseas, he worked long and hard in the Oil Patch in many locations, ranging from the North Slope of Alaska to the Birdsville Track of Australia. Larry was a member of the R.C.L. Branch No. 276, and will be remembered by those with whom he bent an elbow. To Lawrence's many friends and colleagues, we hope that you will remember him with the same warmth, respect and caring that he felt for you. Lawrence was a heck of a man and we miss him deeply. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Rose Sexsmith of Kelowna; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Marv Wagner of Kelowna, Linda and Bill Becker of Lethbridge, Barbara and Doug Olesen of Calgary, and Sandra Sexsmith of Onoway, as well as by grandchildren, Paul and Jodie, Adam and Julie Sexsmith, Michael Healy, Ryan and Erin Becker, Brianne and Daniel Olesen; and three great-grandsons, Austin, Jacob and Isaac. Larry is also survived by his brother Norman of Virden, Manitoba. In celebration of Lawrence's life, a Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Wednesday, September 10, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of the donor's choice. SEYMOUR - James Paul Seymour, aged 59 years, of Calgary, passed away June 18, 1997 in Emma Lake, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife Norma L. Trudeau Seymour of Calgary; a daughter Norma Dawn; a son Kevin and grandson David; his mother Ruth (Otto) Kaldor of Prince Albert, Sask.; his sisters, Jacqueline (Jim) Anderson, Lois (Robert) Green; and brother Dale (Kim) Kaldor, all in Saskatchewan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. DEEPROSE - Geoffrey Arnold Deeprose went to the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 10, 1997. Geof was a pilot in the R.C.A.F. for four and a half years, and then continued in business until his retirement in 1984. He was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Bethany Life Line. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Geof leaves to mourn, his loving wife of fifty-three years Betty; his daughter Leanne; his son Brian; and five wonderful grandchildren, Dan (Cindi), Michael (Kirsten), Kendra (Jerry), Leah and David; two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Joseph; three brothers, Dave (Dorthea), Don (Gladys), and Lins (Ruby); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving puppy Pokey. A Celebration of Geof's life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel", (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Monday, December 15, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with his grandson, Pastor Dan Thompson of World Wide Church of God officiating. DEERING - Emma Luella, beloved wife of Mr. Reuben Deering of Airdrie, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on July 19, 1997, at the age of 70 years. Luella was born on August 21, 1926 at Ernestown, Ont. and moved to Medicine Hat in 1943 with Reuben and then to Calgary in 1954. Luella is survived by her three daughters, Genny (Larry) of Airdrie, Lorraine (Ron) and Brenda, all of Calgary; her three sons, Edmund (Launa), Gene (Charlotte), all of Calgary, and Dale (Marion) of Airdrie; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and six sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Luella was predeceased by her parents, Edmund and Hilda Peters, and a sister Evelyn Garrah. Funeral Services will be held from the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road) at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. DeLEEUW - Albert DeLeeuw passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on December 21, 1997 at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl DeLeeuw; two grandchildren, Joseph and Jamie DeLeeuw of Calgary; brothers, Art (Elenor) of Drumheller, Ray (Violet) of Chase, B.C., Frank and Marcel (Alice) of Vernon, B.C., Fred of Enderby, B.C.; a sister Odel (Leroy) Ogi; sister-in-law Alvina DeLeeuw of Vernon, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his dearest friend and companion Margaret Kampel. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother John. Albert was born in Kamloops, B.C. on January 26, 1924. He joined the P.P.C.L.I. in 1943, spending much of his military career overseas. After his discharge, he became a constable with the CPR Police in Calgary, retiring in 1984. Albert enjoyed the outdoors, trapping, fishing and hunting. He was a member in good standing of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. He was an avid square dancer for fifteen years with the Swinging Singles and Single Eights clubs and will be remembered for his willingness to help the beginner dancers as a "square angel", and as having travelled to many camp-outs and conventions all over Alberta, B.C., Alaska and the U.S. in his "big yellow school bus". DESJARLAIS - Mr. Joseph William Desjarlais, beloved husband of Louise Marie Desjarlais, passed away in Vancouver, B.C. at his residence on November 26, 1997 at the age of 57 years. Besides his wife, Joseph is survived by his children, Wilma, Albert, William, Tilley and Melissa, all of Calgary, and Melanie of Rocky Mountain House. He is also survived by his sisters, Katherine LaVallee of Vancouver, B.C. and Bertha Egerdeen of Olds, Alberta, Rose (Albert) Lemire and one brother Vern Pratt, all of Calgary. Joseph will be greatly missed by his eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Queen's Own Regiment of Victoria, B.C. for thirteen years. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Julia Desjarlais, his sisters, Rita Giroux and Stella Cockriell. Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Monday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m (12/6/1997).

MABIE - Frank W. of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher on December 1, 1997 at the age of 86 years. Frank served overseas with the Calgary Highlanders from 1939 to 1945. As a young man, Frank worked at Ogden Shops, and also at the Currie Barracks and Colonel Belcher as a sign painter. Frank enjoyed gardening and creative arts. Dad will be dearly missed by his children, Phyllis, Don and his wife Wendy, and Tricia; grandchildren, Chad and Leah McPherson, and Chris Mabie. Frank will also be remembered by his many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mollie, his son Stu, and his brothers, Jack and Roy. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel at the Colonel Belcher Hospital (1213 - 14 Street S.W.), on Saturday, December 6, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice.
