Lena is survived by her daughter Julia Allan of Calgary; sons, Gerald of Terrace, BC, Michael of Calgary, and Robert of New Zealand; her sister Meta and family in Australia; and by seven grandchildren. Lena will be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends. RYLL - Mr. Ernest Ryll of Calgary, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the George Boyack Nursing Home on December 29, 1997 at the age 89 years. Ernest is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Carol Ryll of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife Hertha in 1995. RYZ - Stanley Vincent Ryz, beloved husband of Jeanette Ryz of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on November 27, 1997 at the age of 59 years. Stan was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on March 11, 1938 and has been married to Jeanette for thirty-three years. He is the loving father of a daughter Shauna; a son Alan and daughter-in-law Roxanne, all of Calgary. He is also survived by many loving brothers and sisters. Stan was predeceased by his mother and father and two brothers. MOSS - Virginia Mary (Ginny) Moss, beloved wife of Mr. Kerry Moss of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Thursday, October 16, 1997 at the age of 44 years. Besides her loving husband Kerry, Ginny is survived by her son Jesse and daughter Emma. She is also survived by her mother Peggy; brothers, Donald and his wife Joanie, and Reg; her sisters, Carole Johnson and her husband Gary, Paula, Jane Ayre, Peggy Mary and her husband Ken; sister-in-law Karen; brother-in-law Jesse; and father-in-law Charles. MOWAT - It is with great sadness the family of Hildegarde Frances Mowat (nee Stang) would like to inform friends of her passing on Friday, December 12, 1997, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Hilda died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Hilda was born on March 8, 1930 in Macklin, Saskatchewan, the third child of Peter and Elizabeth Stang. She leaves behind her loving husband George; children, Dianne (Danny), Betty (Al Lamy), Shirley (Jerry), Bill, Jean (Terry), Lorrie (Brian); and stepchildren, Georgia and Greg (Sandra). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Kerry (Todd), Donna, Jennifer (Jim), Ben, Penny, Andrea, Bobby, Darren, Caroline, Steven, Patrick and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Cody and Jessie. Hilda also leaves behind her sisters, Molly (Gordon), Maryan (Paul), Leona (Mel), Judy (Bruce), Willy (Dave), Louise (Mike), Lorraine (Joe), Sharon (Bob), Betty (Al); and brothers, Bert (Rose), Ron (Lorraine), Ed (Louise), Elmer (Carol), Joe (Norma); and numerous nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her mother and father, a son Robert in 1961, a brother Richard in 1968, and a stepson Ken in 1992. Hilda spent many years as a volunteer for the Interfaith Thrift Store and cherished her many friendships she made there. She enjoyed the time spent at her cabin at Mara Lake, the many hours of fishing and evenings of card games with her longtime friend and sister-in-law Ruth. She loved to spend time working beside George on their many projects. She especially looked forward to her yearly family reunion and the music and fun her family shared. Hilda also took pleasure in the simple things such as sewing for her grandchildren and taking them on outings. She will always be remembered for her unfailing generosity that extended well beyond the boundaries of her family and friends, and for her courage and strength of spirit during her illness. Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. FLAHERTY - Dr. A. Elizabeth Flaherty, beloved wife of Tim Flaherty of Calgary, passed away at the her residence on Tuesday, October 21, 1997 at the age of 46 years. Elizabeth was born February 11, 1951 at Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She received her B.A. and B.Ed. from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S. in 1973; her Master of Arts degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington; and her Ph.D. from the University of Alberta in 1994. Elizabeth and Tim were married in Portland, Maine in 1973. During the same year they moved to Calgary and she joined the Calgary Separate School district and taught at several schools before being appointed Acting Principal at St. Anthony in 1981. Since then she has served as principal of Holy Cross Annex, Father Damien School, St. Bernadette School, St. Rupert School and St. Thomas Aquinas School. Elizabeth was actively involved in the parish community with St. Bonaventure Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved with the Baptismal Preparation Program. Besides her loving husband, Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Mary Beth. She is also survived by her brother Joseph McKinnon of Dartmouth, N.S.; her sisters, Barbara McKinnon of Halifax, N.S., Madelon Mundy of Boston, Massachusetts, and Leone Parkes of Victoria, B.C.; her aunt Sister Mary Norbert of Antigonish, N.S.; as well as by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Veronica McKinnon. FLUET - Owen Michael Fluet of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on June 12, 1997 at the age of 35.
