CRAWFORD - R. James (Jim) of Sardis, B.C., formerly of Calgary, passed away peacefully in Chilliwack, September 8, 1997. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Frances; his sons, James of Chilliwack, Brent of Calgary; his daughters, Lisa (Lyle) Brown of Sardis, B.C., and Heidi (Dave) Cooke of Duncan, B.C.; and his grandsons, Michael and Stephen. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond, Bud, Gerry and his sister Peggy (Jack) Hollas. Jim was born in Picton, Ontario, May 14, 1929. He lived in Trenton where he met his wife Frances and married in 1961. In 1964, Jim and his family moved to Calgary, where he was a well-respected businessman in the construction industry until moving to British Columbia in 1994. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family. He was a devoted, loving family man that brought joy and laughter into all of their lives. Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 12, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Chilliwack, B.C (9/11/1997).

CRICK - Basil "Budd" Herman Crick, of Nanton passed away after a lengthy illness at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home at the age of 75 years. He leaves his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Mildred Eileen; his daughters, Darlene and Owen Fulton and Echo Paton, all of Vulcan; and his sister Hazel Houlton, Caroline, AB. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Dusty James Crick in 1978, sister Claudia, Howard, son-in-law Bill Charles and one grandson. Funeral Services will be held at the Nanton-Parkland United Church, Nanton on Wednesday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Britt Jessen officiating. Cremation to follow at Parklawn Crematorium. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements in care of SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME, High River. /938-3111 (7/8/1997).

CRIPPS - William Martin (Bill), born December 15, 1959, left us last week at the age of 37. Loving father of Tabitha, husband to Anita, Bill was predeceased by his stepfather, the Rev. Alan Howes. Bill will be sadly missed by his parents, Diane Howes, Ted, and Beatrice; and his mother-in-law Sandy Jackson. He will not be forgotten by his brothers, Brian, Michael, and Kevin, sister Kathleen Howes, stepsister Christine Derksen, their spouses; his nephew Curtis, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, his ingenuity and most important his dedication and commitment to his family and loved ones. For most of his professional life Bill was a trucker, most recently employed by Economy Carriers. As a young man, Bill was a member of Sea Cadets and for several years was a Scout Leader. His many interests included Aikido, boating, motor biking, snowmobiling, camping, as well as beer and wine-making. If it had wheels, Bill could fix it and was always willing to help anyone who asked. We will miss him forever and only wish he could have stayed with us awhile longer. A Memorial Service will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W. (across from North Hill Shopping Centre), on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Canon Douglas H. Skoyles officiating. HAGEL - Mrs. Edna Hagel of Beiseker, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on November 29, 1997 after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 67 years. Edna was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Beiseker on September 20, 1930 where she resided her entire life. A more devoted and loving person could not be found. She was cherished by all who knew her and the Heavens have surely gained a new angel. Edna will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Linda and Cal Shaw of Provost, Michael and Helen Hagel, and Bruce and Sandy Hagel, all of Calgary, Gord Hagel of Lloydminster, Brenda and Joe Prisciak of Marsden, Saskatchewan and Nadine Hagel of Lloydminster; five grandchildren, Mark, Jeff, Cody, Sheldon and Jaime. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Audrey Ternes of Beiseker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank-Joe in 1983, her father Mike Ternes in 1974, her mother Philomena Ternes in 1994, and her sister Annie Den Boer in 1975. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells", (2720 Centre Street North), on Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church (Beiseker, Alberta) on Thursday, December 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. John Petravivius and the Rev. James Hagel, Celebrants. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beiseker. In living memory of Edna Hagel, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (12/1/1997).

MCARTHY - Michael Joseph McCarthy of Calgary, passed away on Friday, June 20, 1997 at the age of 62 years. Michael was born and spent his entire life in the Calgary area. He married Patricia Dolores in 1963, and they took up residence in Southwood, where he resided until the time of his death. He will be remembered as a good neighbour, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Even after moving into Calgary, he never lost his love for the farm, which was evident by his garden. He is survived by a daughter, Michele (William) Montgomery of Lethbridge; a son, Blake (Angella) and their son Charles Patrick, all of Calgary. Michael is also survived by four brothers and six sisters and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Dolores in 1995. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Alexander MacLennan, Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow in "Good Shepherd Cemetery" at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Rockyview Hospital, 7007 - 14 Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2V 1P9. MCCLELLAND - Madge (nee Fairless) passed away at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital at the age of 93, on Tuesday, June 24, 1997. She leaves a legacy of one daughter Noreen; three sons, Raymond, Hugh and Jim; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love for her family, of the mountains, her home and her community, especially her Senior friends. Fiercely independent, she remained in her home on Squirrel Street until her passing, always there to receive visitors. Predeceased by her husband Jack McClelland, sister Isobella Armstrong and brother Wilfred Fairless. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. George's in the Pines on Saturday, June 28, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Carmen Stansberry officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Mineral Springs Hospital. Arrangements in care of JACQUES FUNERAL HOME, 211 Bear Street, Banff. (6/28/1997).

MCCOLL - Richard (Rick) McColl of Calgary, passed away suddenly on November 19, 1997 at the age of 42 years. Rick will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of FIRST MEMORIAL, 1635 - 17 Avenue S.W., on Sunday, November 23, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, or Rick's, The Salvation Army, 200, 1509 Centre Street S.W., Calgary T2G 2E6. MCCONNELL - Teddy Raymond McConnell, beloved husband of Mrs. Mia McConnell of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on November 9, 1997 at the age of 74 years. Besides his loving wife, Ted is survived by his children, Darryl (Marilyn) McConnell of Etobicoke, Ontario, Darlene (Jim) Scott of Calgary, Alberta, Brian McConnell of Calgary, Alberta, Susan (Carl) Nanni of Thornhill, Ontario, Judy (Shane) Coultis of Banff, Alberta, and Ted (Gloria) Patterson of Banff, Alberta. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brent and Colleen McConnell, Victoria and Cynthia Scott, David and Kevin Nanni, Shane, Brandi and Cory Coultis; great-grandchild Bailey; his older brother John McConnell of Moncton, New Brunswick; and his many beloved nieces, nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sarah McConnell, brothers and sisters, Viola, Lorne, Daisy, Nina, Robert and his infant son Gary. Ted was born March 27, 1923 in Moncton, New Brunswick where he was raised and educated. In 1944 he married Doreen (Peggy) Wilson with whom he raised four children. Employed by Eastern Bakeries, he was an active member of the First United Baptist Church. In 1958, he moved to Calgary with his family where he enjoyed a thirty year career with Air Canada. In 1974, he married Mia Patterson and became a loving husband and father to her and her two children. After retiring, he and Mia enjoyed traveling and caring for their many pets. Being an outgoing, friendly person, he had many life-long friends. He was beloved by many and will be dearly missed by all. Those wishing to pay their respects, may do so at the MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, November 12, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, November 13, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Children's Wish Foundation (No. 302, 223 - 12 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2R 0G9), or to the Calgary Humane Society (S.P.C.A.) (1323 - 36 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6T6). Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 AVENUE S.E. at GARDEN ROAD (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.). (11/13/1997).
