LOUIE - Jong Yee Louie, beloved wife of Mr. Harry Louie of Calgary, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on November 29, 1997 at the age of 87 years. Jong Yee Louie was born in Toishan, China on September 29, 1911. She immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1954 and reunited with her husband where they ran a family grocery business for many years. She will be remembered as a strong and caring woman who always put the needs of her family before her own. We will all miss her deeply. Besides her loving husband, Jong Yee is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue May and Frank Lau; daughter-in-law Pui Wan Lau; grandchildren, Don (Linda) Louie, Jake (Virginia) Louie, Manuel (Lucinda) Lau, Michael (Wendy) Lau, Laura (Brian) Lowe; and six great-grandchildren, Krista, Mark, Grant, Garry, Jonathon and Brayden, all of Calgary. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), today, December 5, 1997 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway's "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Saturday, December 6, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John W.S. Kong of the Chinese Pentecostal Church officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. In living memory of Jong Yee Louie, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (12/5/1997).

BARTZ - (nee Dobler). Elfriede passed away suddenly on December 24, 1997, at the age of 60 years. She is the loving mother of Rosemarie (Mike) Skrepnick of Okotoks, Alberta. She is also survived by her brothers, Christoph (Helga) Dobler, Gottlieb (Theresa) Dobler, Erwin Dobler (Jane), Emil (Sandra) Dobler, all of Calgary; and also Artur Bartz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME, on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.) (12/28/1997).

BASSIL - On Sunday, July 6, 1997, Walter Reginald (Reg) Bassil of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his loving wife Winona; one daughter Ann (Bob) Anderson of Dorchester, Ontario; one son Richard (Jill) Bassil of Edmonton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Robertson of Roblin, Manitoba, Violet Robertson of Russell, Manitoba, and Winnie Preece of Winnipeg, Manitoba; many loving nieces and nephews. Reg was predeceased by his grandson Steven Anderson in 1995. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre for loving care given to Dad. Thanks also to Dr. Gerald Zetter; the staff at Station 42 Grey Nuns Hospital; the staff at Pleasantview Lodge; and Station 12Y Youville. A Memorial Service will be held July 10, 1997, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111 - 57 Avenue, Edmonton, with The Rev. Barry Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre, 4225 - 107 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T6J 2P1 (7/8/1997).

BASSON - Mrs. Catherine Frances (Kady) Basson of Calgary, passed away at the Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital on July 10, 1997, at the age of 80 years. Kady was born on March 11, 1917 in Port Hood, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She moved west after she was married in the 1940's. Her warmth, kindness and infectious good humor were her strengths, and the reason she was so loved by so many. Kady put up a valiant struggle with her infirmary, and was an inspiration to everyone. Kady is the loving mother of Kathy and her husband Gordon McCormick of Calgary; and wonderful grandmother to Jeff and Tim of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister Peggy MacDonald of Windsor, Ontario; and several nieces, nephews and many very special friends. She was predeceased by her husband and soul-mate Fred in 1988. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, (610 - 2 Avenue N.E.), on Monday, July 14, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Vincent James O.M.I., Celebrant. Special thanks to Dr. D. Ross MacDonald, social worker Peter Massier, and the wonderful staff at the Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital, who were warm and caring to both Kady and her family. She truly loved you all. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road, S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6. In living memory of Kady Basson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Crowfoot Chapel", 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W., CALGARY. (7/13/1997).

FISHER - Jacqueline Carole Fisher, age 26 years, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 18, 1997 in Calgary. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Tony Huber (1965), John (1979) and Annie (July 19, 1997) Fisher; infant sister Karen (August 5, 1972); Jacky's sister's fiance Bob Drake (May, 1997); Aunty Bernie Almassy (July 11, 1990); Aunty Eveline Johnson (November 20, 1993). She is survived by her father Robert Fisher; brother Jerrod (Brenda) Fisher, all of Regina; sister Eloise Fisher and her son Aaron of Faro, Yukon; mother Carole Fisher of Southey, Sask.; grandmother Alice Huber of Bangor, Sask.; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many good friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. in Speer's Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, Sask., with Rev. Patrick Tomalin officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at PIERSON'S FUNERAL HOME, located at 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alta. on Tuesday, July 22, 1997 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Private family interment. Flowers are most gratefully declined. FITZMARTYN - Mrs. Alice Gertrude Fitzmartyn (nee Noble) of Calgary, passed away at the Sarcee Nursing Home on September 17, 1997, at the age of 84 years. Alice was very proud that she was born and educated in Calgary and resided here all of her life. She was a founding member of St. Anthony's Parish and worked at the Credit Union for many years. She will be fondly remembered by her son Dennis and his children, her daughter-in-law JoAnne, JoAnne's husband Tony Pozdin, and her beloved grandson Bob Fitzmartyn. Alice is also survived by her sister Kay Fisher of Toronto, her sisters-in-law, June Fitzmartyn of Calgary and Mary Lane of Victoria; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Alice was predeceased by her husband Jack, her son Greg, her brother George Noble, sisters, Mable Nelson, Ivy Fletcher, Mary Veillieux, and Agnes Galloway. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Friday, September 19, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (5340 - 4 Street S.W.), on Saturday, September 20, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. C. Eric Nelson, Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. MOFFATT - Loretta Evelyn (Ginger) passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on December 25, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Ginger is survived by her sisters, Cecilia (Pat) Aiello and Rita (Arnold) Moen of Calgary; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Glenn (January 5, 1993). Ginger was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on August 3, 1914. She moved to Calgary in 1941 and has resided in Calgary since then. She has been a longtime member of Corpus Christi, C.W.L. Ginger will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend their very special thanks to Barbara George, B. Cadmon, N. Tulp, and the staff on Unit No. 8 at the Bethany Care Centre, Calgary for the care and kindness given to Ginger. Prayer Services will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 404 Northmount Place N.W. on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. William H. Trienekens, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice. MOHAMED - "Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting, The soul that rises with us, our life's star, Hath had elsewhere its setting, And cometh from afar.." William Wordsworth Serena M. Mohamed, beloved daughter of Meb and Jennie Mohamed of Calgary passed away on July 19, 1997 at the tender age of 17 years. She will be dearly missed by her parents, brother, grandparents, family and friends. She touched many hearts by her simplicity, her beauty, her caring, her generosity and her shy smile. The graduating class of 1997 of Strathcona Tweedsmuir School, where she was a prefect, will remember her always for all these attributes and for her leadership qualities. Our hopes, our well wishes and our prayers go with her as she takes her final resting place. May Allah bless and keep her. Funeral Services will be held today, Tuesday, July 22, 1997 at the Ismaili Jamat Khana and Centre (4623 - 11 Street N.E.) at 12:15 p.m. God rest her soul in peace.
