LAWSON - Orlee Lawson of Calgary, passed away suddenly on November 19, 1997, at the age of 70 years. Announcements later by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Park Memorial Chapel", 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W., CALGARY. (11/21/1997).

ZENTNER - Mrs. Clara Florence Zentner, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ralph Zentner of Calgary, AB, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at the age of 90 years. Clara is the loving mother of Edward (Ed) and Emilie Zentner, Ronald and Joyce Zentner, Audrey and Bob Swires, and Pat Beiswanger, all of Calgary; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters. Clara was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1974, sons, Denis in 1968, Laurie in 1983 and daughter-in-law Veronica in 1988. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Clarawas raised in Saskatchewan until 1962. Clara then moved to Calgary with her husband Ralph and resided in Calgary until her passing. Clara will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 5340 - 4 Street S.W., Calgary, AB on Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend John Maes officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 5340 - 4Street S.W., Calgary, AB on Thursday, December 4, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend John Maes, Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, memorial tributes may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 3Y6. LAYCRAFT - Stella Margaret Elizabeth Laycraft of High River, formerly of Blackie District, passed away at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on June 9, 1997 at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her sons, Jim and Phyllis Laycraft, Calgary; Darryl and Camille Laycraft, Blackie; her daughter Marlene and Lawrence Herriman, Cochrane and by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Stella is also survived by her brother Walter and Esther Elliott, High River; sister Helen and Wilbur Melendy, Calgary; sisters-in-law Vivian, High River, Bertie, Chilliwack, Sadie, Calgary; and brother-in-law Charles, Calgary; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her husband Willis on February 5, 1989. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at SNODGRASS FUNERAL HOME, High River at 1:30 p.m., Mrs. Sue MacDonald D.M., officiating. Interment of cremains to follow at the Highwood Columbarium. If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Ladies' Auxiliary to the High River Hospital, c/o Mrs. Evelyn Walmark, 21 Pekisko Road, High River, AB. T1V 1C6. CURRIE - Merv Currie, beloved husband of Anne, passed away suddenly and tragically on November 25, 1997 at the age of 60. Merv influenced many and will be remembered as a very gentle and loving man. His care and love for his wife and family was utmost to his being. He had a passion for life and love of people and animals. One of his greatest achievements was his signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Besides his loving wife Anne, Merv is survived by his two sons, Mervin Jr., and Stephen, his wife Tracey and children. Merv is also survived by one sister Gladys; and five brothers, Russel, Bob, Ed, Jerry and Ernie. Merv is predeceased by his father Jim, mother Pearl and two brothers, Ray and Len. A celebration of Merv's life and family gathering was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel" (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at 3:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society (S.P.C.A.), 1323 - 36 Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta T2E 6T6. In living memory of Merv Currie, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E., CALGARY. (11/30/1997).

MURPHY - Esther Valentine (Val), passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 10, 1997 at the age of 75 years. Val will be lovingly remembered by her husband Cecil; her twin sons, Rick and his wife Ruth, and Larry; and her two dear friends, Audrey and Winnie. Val was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Gary Dix and the staff of the Foothills I.C.U. for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Lewkonia and Dr. Morgan for the care they gave to Val over the years. A Service of Remembrance will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., on Monday, December 15, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Val's name may be made to the Arthritis Society, No. 105, 1301 - 8 Street S.W., Calgary T2R 1B7. LUKINSKI - Roman Lukinski, beloved husband of Joanne Lukinski, of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on June 25, 1997 at the age of 82 years. Roman was born at Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 1915. After the First World War he returned with his parents to Poland. When the Second World War started he was drafted by the Russian army to Russia, to prisoner camp. In 1942 Roman left Russia with the Polish Army and went to North Rhodesia, Africa where he spent five years and eight months. In August of 1945 he married Janina Sobolewski and came to Canada in December of 1948, settling in Brandon, Manitoba. In 1989, after raising two children, daughter Jean and son Bernie, he moved to Calgary to be close to his family. Besides his loving wife, Roman is also survived by his daughter Jean, son Bernie, and grandson Matthew. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Our Lady Queen of Peace Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.), today, June 28, 1997 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.), on Monday, June 30, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow in "St. Joseph's Section" at Queen's Park Cemetery. YOUNG - Mr. Leonard (Len) Young, beloved husband of Aurora Young, of Calgary, passed away at Foothills Hospital on June 3, 1997 at the age of 74 years. Len was born in Edmonton in 1922. He was a World War II veteran serving in motor torpedo boats in Europe, and doing convoy duty in Corvettes during the battle of the Atlantic. He worked for many years as an industrial electrician in the Yukon Territory and in Alberta. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 1, and a member of the Golden Age Club. A memorable occasion of Len's was receiving his pilot's licence when he was in his late forties. Besides his loving wife, Len is also survived by his children, from his first marriage, Lynda Taylor of Calgary; from his second marriage, Larry and his wife Dorothy Young of Vancouver, David Young of Whitehorse, Sharon and her husband James Fleury of Brennens Hill, PQ, Allen Young of Ottawa; his son-in-law Ron Watkinson of Thunder Bay; his stepchildren, Sandra, Debbie, Carol, Gerry, Dave and their families; as well as six grandchildren, Jennifer, Lori, Nichole, Deborah, Michelle and Jerry. He is also survived by a sister Evelyne and her husband Lester Faulkner. Len was predeceased by his first wife Pearl, second wife Mary, and his youngest daughter Lenora and granddaughter Danielle Watkinson on March 21, 1997. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel" (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), today, June 7, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at a later date in the Field of Honor at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. In living memory of Leonard Young, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Crowfoot Chapel", 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. (6/7/1997).

HARTWELL - Madge passed away at the Extendicare/Cedars Villa on December 27, 1997 at the age of 76 years. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1962 and her younger sister Velma in 1996. She is survived by her brother Ivor, and sister Lola. Madge will be sadly missed by her two sons, Phillip and Grant, both of Calgary; her grandchildren, Paul, Douglas, Andrew, Michael and Mitchell; her nephews, Craig, Brett, Gregory, Wayne, Rod and Fred; nieces, Tracy, Patricia and Susan. At Madge's request there will be no formal Funeral Services. Funeral and Cremation arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.). A very special thanks to the staff at the Cedars Villa for their smiling faces and the friendly care they provided to Madge during her stay there (12/30/1997).

HARVEY - Mr. Edward Harvey, passed away at Rocky Mountain House on June 1, 1997, at the age of 62 years. He is the loving father of Eric (Dawn) Harvey of Westlock, Alta., and Shawna (Bert) Cunningham of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.; and six grandchildren, Justin, Darcy, Raelynn, Natasha, Brandon, and Amber. Edward is also survived by his three brothers and two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1993, and his parents. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, June 7, 1997 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 7, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Brigadier Sigvard Hagglund of Salvation Army Forest Lawn Corp officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (No. 417, 5920 - 1A Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2H 0G3) or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (No. 238, 2116 - 27 Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta T2E 7A6). Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY and FUNERAL HOME, 17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road (3 km East of 68 Street S.E.). (6/5/97)
