MacFarlane and sister to Calvin D. MacFarlane (Patricia and Preston). Melanie was predeceased by her mother Dorothea and brother Dennis. She leaves to mourn, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Melanie had a lasting influence on so many students and staff during her twenty years with the Calgary Public School Board. Graduating from the University of Calgary she started teaching Physical Education for several years, and after completing her Master degree moved into Guidance. Her infectious spirit, patience and energy for her profession go unchallenged. She touched the hearts and minds of so many family, friends, students and colleagues. Her bright smile and kind gestures have generated warmth and friendship for so long. We will truly miss you Melanie, our thoughts will be with you always. Melanie's CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on September 13, 1997 at the Lakeview Community Association, 6110 - 34 Street S.W., Calgary, Alberta from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tributes to Melanie between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. A Melanie MacFarlane Memorial Award has been established at Bowness High School in her honor. MACHON - Olive Mabel is the loving mother of Jeanette (Gerry) Wright of California and John Machon (Cathy) of Calgary; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Glenn McIntosh and Gordon McIntosh, both of Edmonton, AB. Olive was predeceased by her husband J.L. Machon and her son George Machon. RISSLING - Mr. Chester J. Rissling passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, November 12, 1997, to be with our Lord, at the age of 50 years. Chester is survived by his mother Betty; brother Les, nephew Daniel, and sister Shirley (Paul Vanderwood), nephews, Mark and David, and niece Denise; as well as lifelong friend and companion Delphine, her daughter Corinna and family. His kindness and compassion will be greatly missed but remembered eternally in all of our hearts. Chester will be sadly missed by many friends and will be remembered for his contagious smile and his zest for life. RITCHIE - Hannah Ann Ritchie of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Forest Grove Care Centre on June 29, 1997 at the age of 76 years. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving wife, working mother, and a homemaker. Hannah is survived by her three children, Darryl, Kathleen and Marilyn; as well as her special foster granddaughter Leonka; all of Calgary. She is also survived by her brother Dode Minor of Medicine Hat. Hannah was predeceased by her husband Raymond, and her sister Dorothy Oddson of Calgary. ROBINSON - Mr. Joseph James (Jim - Robbie) Robinson, passed away on June 18, 1997 at the age of 80 years, dearly beloved husband of fifty years of Hilda (Jean) Robinson and beloved father of Susan (Brian) Loach, and Brenda (Bill) Demcoe; dear grandfather of Christopher, Neil, Brent and Keith Loach. Robbie served with the RCAF for twenty-three years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Royal Canadian Legion Alberta No. 1 Branch for several years and was also a member of the Oddfellow Rebekah Lodge. VAN HEES - Laetitia van Hees of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on November 4, 1997 at the age of 76 years. Laetitia was born on April 27, 1921 in The Hague, Netherlands. Her life took her to Indonesia and then she immigrated to Canada in 1952. Laetitia did much to help other people throughout her life and loved music, nature and animals. Laetitia is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Derk van Hees and Audrey Sullivan of Calgary; two daughters, Henriette and friend Klaus Huckseldt of Edmonton, and Violet van Hees and Ross Burnett of Whitehorse, Yukon. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael and Kerstin. Laetitia was predeceased by her husband Hendrik in 1993. ROSS - Blanche (DoDo) Hunt Ross (Hutchings), born March 26, 1909 in Calgary, passed away after a lengthy illness on December 29, 1997 at the age of 88 years. She was the devoted wife of Charles Walter Ross for sixty-two years. She is survived by her husband Charles; two daughters, Cynthia Margot Thibault (Freeman Carl) and Alix Brooke Diercks (Dallas Delbert). Blanche was predeceased by one sister Marion Baird and five brothers, Jack, Douglas, Harry, Stuart and George, and one granddaughter Collette Margot Thibault. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 - 8 Street S.W.) on Friday, January 2, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roy Darcus officiating. SHARP - Helma, beloved wife of the late Bill Sharp, passed away suddenly at home December3, 1997 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 75 years. Beloved mother of one daughter Rose (Don) Fox of Vulcan; two sons, Bill (Lynne) of Vulcan and John (Dorothy) of Coleman; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother Les (Marion) Greaves of Calgary; three sisters, Marion Henry, Lela Avery, both of Bassano, and Edith (Harvey) Fuller of Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
