She immigrated to Calgary with her family in 1959. She leaves behind her sister Edith of Germany; two sons, Hans (Jocelyn) of Manilla, Fred (Helen) of Calgary; two daughters, Jutta Woppel and Eva (Peter) Kreiling, both of Calgary. Also five grandchildren, Andrea, Debby, Rick, Patti and Susan; and three great-grandchildren, Nichole, Courtney and Ashlynn. SCHWARZ - Peter F. Schwarz, beloved companion of Sheryll Celmainis, passed away peacefully September 3, 1997 at the age of 43 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sarah and Melissa; his parents, Ingeborg and Joachim; his brother Herbert; sister Rita (Bromma); and four nephews. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched. SCHWENGLER - Mr. Tony Schwengler, beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Schwengler of Beiseker, passed away at the Three Hills Regional Health Care Centre on June 18, 1997 after a lengthy illness, at the age of 87 years. Born in Winnifred, Alberta, Tony moved to the Beiseker area in 1924 and farmed south of Beiseker until his retirement in 1967 when he moved to Beiseker. In 1971 he married Barbara Silbernagel. Besides his loving wife, Tony is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jean of Beiseker; two grandchildren, Murray, and Ron and his wife Mary Anne; two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Danielle; a brother Simon Schwengler; and a sister Katie Kiprick, both of Beiseker. He is also survived by Barbara's family, Delores and Don McGowan of Vancouver, Marilyn and Jack Matthisen of Anchorage, Alaska, Gerry and Joyce Silbernagel of Calgary; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Julia in 1954. HELWIG - Hugh, beloved husband of Alice Helwig of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on November 25, 1997 at the age of 85 years. He is the loving father of Ardith (Joe) Grassl of Calgary. Hugh is also survived by four grandchildren, Blayne Grassl, Adele (Dennis) Motyer, Charlene Westwell, all of Calgary, and Shaun (Connie) Grassl of Abbotsford, B.C.; as well as his sister Ruth (Ed) Zimmerman of Olds and brother Louie (Maggie) of Lodi, California. He was predeceased by his son Milton, three sisters and five brothers. Hugh was an avid fisherman and dearly loved his church where he worked for many years with the seniors. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. HENDERSON - The family of Ella "May" Pearl Henderson (nee Middleton) wish to remember her life which ended on December 12, 1997 at the Forest Grove Care Centre due to complications of breast cancer. May was born on a homestead near Nanton, Alberta on May 10, 1916, fourth daughter of Jack and Pearl Middleton, salt of the earth prairie settlers. She attended rural schools until the family moved to Calgary in 1927, then attending Crescent Heights High School and Calgary Normal School, receiving her B. of Ed. from the U of A and teaching public school until the age of sixty-one years.She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, George and Abey, sister Goldie Frew, cherished husband Fred T. Henderson, and beloved companion Jack Sheppard. Missing her dearly are daughter and best friend Laurie (Dr. Bill) Csokonay of Calgary; son Campbell (Rhonda) Henderson of Grande Prairie; grandchildren, Leah, Bonnie, Cayley, Emmolin Henderson; sisters, Ruth McVeigh of Calgary, LaVerne Ortwein of Olds, Irene (Bill) Oulton of Christina Lake, B.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends remember her diverse interests, enthusiasm for life, travel, art, music, literature, dance, nature and mostly family, which she tried to keep together to the end. The Calgary Doll Club will miss and remember her collecting and artistic talent. Confederation Park Seniors' Centre washer home away from home, with many friends to be thanked for their companionship and support. May enjoyed travel immensely, people of many backgrounds and we acknowledge Laurel and Lola, beloved Australian friends. We miss May, know we will see her again and celebrate a life well lived. SAUCIER - Liane, at the Mayfair Nursing Home on July 22, 1997 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her brother John J. Saucier, Q.C.; and sister Anna Maloney. She is survived by her nieces, Suzanne Colter of Edmonton, Mary (Dover) Saucier, and Carolyn Ray of Calgary; and many grandnieces and nephews. Liane was born December 17, 1907 in the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, the youngest of three children. She attended St. Mary's Separate School transferring to Holy Angels later, when it opened. She attended South Calgary High and took part in musical productions and the Glee Club. Liane attended the University of Alberta, majoring in French. Following university, she furthered her education at Garbutt Business College graduating with honours and winning a gold medal in typing. She then wrote a Civil Service examinations and accepted employment in Ottawa with the British Commonwealth Flying-Training Scheme where she became a Stenographic Pool Supervisor. Seven years later, Liane returned to Calgary to live with her mother and sister after the death of her father. She worked during this period for Imperial Oil Limited in the purchasing department. Seven years later, Liane worked as a teacher of Latin and French at Strathcona School for Girls on Vancouver Island. Following a breakdown, she was hospitalized in Alberta Hospital in Ponoka and Claresholm for fifteen years or more. Following hospitalization, Liane lived joyfully at the old Beverley Nursing Home in Calgary before taking up residence with her sister Anna. Following Anna's death, Liane lived alone with the help of a Homemaker who took her shopping and cleaned her house for her one day a week. She continued to play bridge with the 35th Avenue bridge club and enjoyed attending Al-Anon luncheons and meetings until shortly before her death. SAUNDERS - Mrs. Louise Saunders of Calgary, passed away on December 2, 1997 at the age of92 years. Born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, she came to Calgary in 1949 and has sincere sided here. She is the loving mother of Betty Runnie of Calgary, Jerry and Dolley Williams of Armstrong, B.C., Barry and Sharon Williams of Calgary, Lois and Ray Parkins of Granum, Alberta, and Donna and Fritz Blackwell of Pullman, Washington; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. SAWATSKY - Gladys Genevieve passed away suddenly at the Glenmore Auxiliary Hospital on December 7, 1997 at the age of 71 years. Gladys is survived by two sons, Dale and Derald (Karin); one granddaughter Tracy; two grandsons, Derald and Daniel; two sisters, Mae and Selma; and one brother Elmer. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1991.
