SCHMIDT - Louise May. On Wednesday, November 12, 1997, Louise Schmidt of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta passed away at the age of 59 years following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd; one daughter Robyn (Eric) Baxter of Tottenham, Ontario; one son Dennis at home; two grandsons, Zackary and Quinn; her mother-in-law Margaret Schmidt; one brother, five sisters, also numerous other relatives and friends. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Maria Bergan in 1987, and father-in-law Tony Schmidt in 1993. Those wishing to pay their last respects may do so on Friday, November 14, 1997 at the RIVERVIEW FUNERAL HOME, 10103 - 100 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. or prior to the Funeral Service that will be held on Saturday, November 15, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 9909 - 90 Street, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Pastor Vern Vansteenburg will officiate with Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund. RIVERVIEW FUNERAL SERVICES of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta in care of arrangements. LENNON - Mrs. Evelyn Lindsay Lennon, passed away at Foothills Hospital on June 17, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Robert and Elaine Lewis, Sandra Cornet and Leo; two grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Cornet. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister and best friend, Constance Kent; sisters-in-law, Anne Bannister, Maude Stafford, and Joan Parker; as well a many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lewis in 1995. Evelyn was a private person, at her request no Funeral Services will be held. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6. In living memory of Evelyn Lennon, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (6/19/1997).

LEONG - Fon Kue (nee Gunn), passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on July 21, 1997 at the age of 100 years. She was predeceased by her husband Dick Leong in 1984, and two daughters. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Lai Ha Leong, Frank and May Leong; and a daughter and son-in-law, May and Teddy Mah, all of Calgary; thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Fon Kue was born in Guangdong, China. She came to Canada in 1957 with her son Frank to join her husband who was operating a grocery store in South Calgary. She assisted in operating their business until their retirement. A loving mother and grandmother, she devoted a good portion of her life in raising two sons and three daughters. She was also an avid gardener. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), on Friday, July 25, 1997 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway's "Chapel of the Bells" (2720 Centre Street North), Saturday, July 26, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Hung of the Chinese Pentecostal Church officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. In living memory of Fon Kue Leong, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Chapel of the Bells", 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH. (7/24/1997).

QUENNELL-LARSEN - Boston Allan Quennell, precious son of Ross Quennell and April Larsen, passed away with his parents at his side, at the Children's Hospital on July 20, 1997 at the age of 13 1/2 months. Born June 4, 1996, Boston touched the lives of many, many people and truly was an angel. Besides his loving parents, Ross and April, Boston will be forever missed by his grandparents, Howard and Ida Quennell of Gleichen, Terry and Nancy Larsen of Strathmore; great-grandparents, Gordon and Kathleen Christensen of Alix; uncles and aunts, Dallas and Heather Larsen of Strathmore, Doug and Gern Pagenkopf of Gleichen; and cousins, Scott and Kirsten Pagenkopf. Boston also leaves to mourn, the staff at the Children's Hospital, including Dr. Prince and the N-Cluster Nurses, and numerous friends and acquaintances who had the opportunity to share in his life, and experience the many lessons he came to teach. Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, July 23, 1997 at Strathmore Alliance Church at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Don Holmes of Milo United Church officiating. Interment Strathmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Children's Wish Foundation (106, 223 - 12 Avenue S.W., Calgary, T2R 0G9) in Boston's name so another child can experience the many joys Boston had. REID - Wray Hugh James Reid of Nanton, passed away at the High River Hospital on Thursday, December 11, 1997, at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife Fern; son Dirk and his wife Lori and grandchildren, Jeff and Shannon; son Roy and his wife Eva and grandchildren, Michael and Daniel; son Lance and his wife Kathy and grandchildren, Megan and Erica; stepdaughters, Colleen Albert and Brenda Stinson and her husband Philip and granddaughters, Tauney and Sierra; stepson Dale Albert and his wife Michelle and grandchildren, Kasha and Jace. He was predeceased by his father James Reid and mother Jane Reid. Wray came to Alberta from Souris, Manitoba in 1954 settling in Calgary. He worked for the City of Calgary Electric Department until his retirement in 1982. The family lived at DeWinton from 1968 to 1933 and retired to Nanton in March of 1993 where he resided until his death. During his retirement Wray was very active in the community as well as an avid golfer and curler. He also acted in a number of Windmill Theatre productions in High River. Wray was also a very close friend of Bill W. for nineteen years. Services will be held at the Nanton-Parkland United Church on Tuesday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m., the Reverends, Britt and Dirk Jessen officiating. THOMPSON - JOS. S. Joseph Arthur Scott Thompson, formerly of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at Bethany Care Centre, Calgary, on November 3, 1997, at the age of 96 years. He is survived by daughter Frances (Knut) Vesterdal; grandchildren, Ellen Vesterdal, Kathy (Ray) Darwent, Arthur Vesterdal; twin great-granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley Darwent; brother and sister-in-law, Jack (Beth) Thompson; sister Irene Cable, and their families; his late wife Grace's family in Texas, and many other relatives and friends. Joe was born in Reston, Manitoba, September 23, 1901. He was the son of the Rev. Alfred A. and Julia (nee Mallough) Thompson. Joe came with his parents to the Hayter-Provost area of Alberta in May of 1906. After graduating from Manitoba Agricultural College, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, with the gold medal for Agriculture in 1922, he returned to the family farm. In January of 1929, he married Dorothy Rose Wilkins of Reston, Manitoba. In 1944, they moved to Camrose where he was employed in seed and field inspection work by the Dominion Government. Soon he became fieldman for the Alberta Seed Growers Cooperative, and later acted as public relations representative-at-large. In 1953, he took over their Red Deer operation which in 1957 was bought by the Albert Wheat Pool, and he was appointed manager of their Seed Division at Red Deer. He held this position until 1967, at which time he was appointed fieldman-at-large for the Seed and Fertilizer Division, officially retiring in 1970. He was a member of Waskasoo Lodge No. 16 Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International, and also of Gaetz United Church, where he served on the board for many years. Joe was predeceased by Dorothy in 1982. He married Grace MacGregor in 1985, and became a "winter Texan" until her death in 1995. Sincere thanks and appreciation to all categories of staff and volunteers at Bethany Care Centre. Memorial Services will be held at Northminster United Church (3311 Centre Street North), on Saturday, November 22, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of their choice. TAYLOR - Peter Taylor of Edmonton (formerly of Calgary, Alberta), passed away on December 23, 1997 at the age of 92 years. Peter is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; son Ron (Sandy); and daughter Joan (Craig) Wallace, all of Sherwood Park; six grandchildren, Kendra, Tammy, Sheri, Dan, Kirsti and Kelly; one great-granddaughter Tandia; two sisters, Pearl Bentley of Calgary, and Ruby Evans residing in British Columbia; nieces, Pat Schneider and Doreen Huntington of Edmonton; as well as many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 29, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at West Grove Chapel, 10374 - 147 Street, Edmonton, Alberta. Memorial Donations may be made to charity of one's choice. SMITH - Kaley Jane Smith, beloved daughter of Kerry and Vicki and caring and loving sister of Riley, Samantha, and Karianne, passed away at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre on Monday, November 17, 1997 at the age of 24 years. Kaley loved to travel, she loved art, history and antiques, auctions and the cabin at Crimson Lake. Kaley was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and was presently enrolled in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary. She worked part-time at Trans Canada Energy (Northridge) where the caring and kindness of her co-workers has been greatly appreciated. Kaley's sweetness and her thoughtfulness throughout her whole life has given all who have known her great joy. She has always been very thankful for all her opportunities and she has shown such incredible strength and faith in her struggle with cancer. Her life was a gift to us all and now she has found peace. She leaves to mourn her passing, her parents, Kerry and Vicki; sisters, Riley, Samantha and Karianne; her friend and companion Brad Basarowich; her grandmother Helen Smith of Drumheller; grandparents, George and Polly Freeman of Calgary; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and dear friends. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Fish Creek Chapel" (14441 Bannister Road S.E.), today, November 22, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, No. 106, 223 - 12 Avenue S.W., Calgary, T2P 0W7. During her illness, Kaley received special care from chemotherapy and radiation nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. A special thanks to the nurses on Unit 57 and Unit 101. Kaley's family would also like to thank Dr. Shumsky, Dr. Sisak, Dr. Hagen, Dr. Wasylenko, Dr. Stuart, Dr. Craighead, Dr. Armson, John Robinson and Barb Kearnes. In her memory, a park bench will be placed in Crescent Heights overlooking the city that she loved. In living memory of Kaley Smith, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES "Fish Creek Chapel", 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E., CALGARY. (11/22/1997).
