- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -SMITH - Oscar Scane Smith passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on December 22, 1997 at the age of 88 years. He is the loving father to Marlene (Don) Brooks of Calgary, Harley (Lois) Smith of Yarker, ON, Karen (Charlie) Jurek of Manotick, ON, and Dennis Smith of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marla, Carolyn, Lisa, Kirk, Kim, Wendy, Janelle; and by his great-grandchildren, Logan and Leah. Predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor on April 28, 1997, and by three brothers and one sister. Oscar was born in Ridgetown, Ontario. In 1931 he joined the Canada Life Insurance Company in Sarnia, Ontario. He worked in Sarnia, Regina and was manager at the Calgary Branch from 1953 until his retirement in 1980. He was for many years a member of the Glencoe Club, the Ranchmans Club, and very active in the Rotary Club of Calgary South. Oscar was loved and admired by all those who knew him, and the memories he has left behind will be treasured forever. The family would like to thank the staff at the Beverly Centre and the Bethany Care Centre for their special care to Oscar. SARGENT - Stuart Leonard Sargent, passed away suddenly on July 12, 1997 at the age of 33 years. Stuart will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Debbie Zinger; sons, Sam, B.J. and Bobby; father Tony; and brothers, Steve, Chris, Dale and their families. Stuart was an employee for the Hub Oil Company Ltd., in Calgary. PETERS - Mr. Robert (Bob) Rankin Peters, beloved husband of Mrs. Sue Peters of Calgary, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 28, 1997 at the age of 83 years. Bob was a renaissance man, artist and craftsman, who lived life to the fullest and inspired the same in others. He shared his own love of nature, especially the mountains, with his family and was an avid gardener, hiker, skier and climber even through last summer. Always gracious, he let his wife win at tennis and lead in dancing. His career included farming, the CPR and instructing electronics at SAIT. Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ron Maskell of Dorset, England; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Gayle Peters of Calgary; five grandchildren, Stephen and Sheila Peters, Kristi Peters, Rob Peters, Katy Peters, and Skye Peters; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Karissa. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Anne Peters of Creston, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel" (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Monday, November 3, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Miller of Westminster United officiating. PERRY - Thomas Albert Perry of Calgary, passed away November 12, 1997 at the age of 39 years. He will be fondly remembered by his father and stepmother, Robert and Gerri Perry; twin brother Rob Perry (Deb); and brother Lloyd Perry (Melinda); eight nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Tom was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Perry in 1985. Tom was born and raised in Calgary. After graduating from Forest Lawn High School he worked for Safeway for sixteen years and for the past three years has worked for CP Rail as a Conductor/Yard Foreman. He was an avid fly-fisherman and sportsman, skilled at taxidermy and loved country and western dancing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 17, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. at Pierson's Funeral Home, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E. with Rev. W. George Chapman officiating. HEYWOOD - Wilma Joyce Heywood of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 8, 1997 at the age of 63 years. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving children, daughters, Shirley, Margaret (Don), Susan (Larry), Selina (Randy); sons, Gary (now residing in Vancouver, B.C.), and George (Shelly). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many good friends. Wilma touched many lives in her time, and will be remembered by all. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1311 - 4 Street S.W., on Friday, September 12, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Lorne Irwin officiating. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Foothills Hospital for their diligent efforts. WILSON - Marjorie Jean Wilson of Drumheller passed away November 16, 1997, in the Drumheller Hospital. She was born on October 3, 1918 in Drumheller and lived her entire life here. She is survived by her son Jim (Hazel) of Edmonton; daughter Beverly (George) Svecla of Peace River; daughter Sharron (Walter) Urichuk of Cochrane; and son Doug (Mary) of Calgary; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Marjorie was predeceased by her father Jim Shanks in 1956, her loving husband Roy in 1988, son Donald, infant daughter Bonita Heather, grandson Michael, and great-granddaughter Jennalee. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller District Palliative Care Unit. WILLIAMS - Frances Elizabeth Williams (nee Neis) passed away on July 19, 1997 at the Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital. Frances was born March 2, 1905 on the family farm near Lamerton, AB (Mirror), the daughter of Valentine and Julia Neis, and sister to Annie. Frances moved to Calgary in 1941, after living in Bashaw for some time, with her husband Bert E. Williams and their four children. They settled in West Calgary on 37 Street S.W., which at that time was little more than open prairie. Frances will be remembered as a loving, caring person, and for her passion of afternoon tea. Frances is survived by her sons, Cliff (Rachel) and Lawrence (Mary); and her daughter Mildred Sherk; as well as her nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and also, by two special nieces, Dory (George) Magnus and Betty (Vern) Leonard, and their children. Frances was predeceased by her parents, sister and husband, as well as her daughter Irene Sauve. The family extends their gratitude to the staff on the Second Floor of the Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital for their kindness given during her long stay.
